Vancouver 2010 (both DS and Wii versions) as you said are the ones worth playing. They just had two unique story lines that I see as very well done. The DS one had the adventure-like story, whereas with the Wii version, it was like you were a real athlete at the games! They were simple and fun, but the games since 2010 Olympics have slightly gotten worse and worse, depending on who you ask, some will say that they liked 2012, some will say they liked 2014. It's all about opinions in the end, but I can agree with you on your original statement, though.

The Olympic Games thing was because they couldn't figure out how to blend the gameplay styles and Sega happened to have a license to make a Olympics video game, so that's how it came to be.

London Party is actually a good game mode. There are both quizzes and actual events you just got unlucky and got 2 non-olympic events. My friend and I spent hours playing London Party back in 2012

I love this game. Also I love the opening so much. For those who dont know, the opening to this game is done by Marza Animation Planet, the same people who did the Sonic Unleashed CG cutscenes and Night of the Werehog, and I love them so much. It's gorgeous animation and detail

I haven't played this game, but I've played the Beijing 2008 ver. for Wii and found the Track and Field events to be quite fun (Dream version of the track event was nice too); this game probably isn't that much different, from the looks of it.
