Ewa Agoyin- Agoyin Stew Recipe

  • First of all, I should point out that authentic Ewa Agoyin is made using just dry pepper seeds. However, Dry Tatashe is added to help tone down the heat a bit. The seeds are blended using a special grinder, that way, the seeds are thoroughly blended, thereby making the stew look really smooth. My blender can't grind dry seeds, hence the slightly rough texture.
    Ingredients:
    3 cups Black Eyed Beans
    3 Cups Palm Oil
    8 Pieces Dried Bell Peppers (Tatashe gbigbe)
    2 Onions
    1/2 cup Dried Pepper Seeds
    1 inch Ginger Root
    2 Tablespoons Dried whole crayfish
    1 Crayfish or beef seasoning (optional)
    Salt to taste

      Request granted 😁 You can use just crushed pepper flakes/ seeds. Simply soak in water overnight to reduce the heat..

      @@angelonons lol sis I wish ... couldn't find the dried pepper 😩. What can I substitute for it? They've red chili at Indian/Mexican store, don't know if that would work

      You could probably get red poblano peppers and dry them or roast them... what I was going to do was to dehydrate red bell peppers then roast them to get a better depth of flavor.

      I did this today and simply grilled the fresh peppers I have using my oven. Try that and it wud work too

      I used fresh bell pepper for mine, no water when blending, and fried till it got dark.
