This is wonderful. The Pointer Sisters have arguably been the only harmonising vocal group sophisticated and talented enough to be worthy of the Andrews Sisters' legacy, and unquestionably the only sibling group. Marvelous to see them with Patty.
This is legendary, a true passing of the torch. And The Pointer Sisters have not disappointed. They are by far the best "Girl Group" where all sisters sang front and had hits under their lead, No One save En Vogue and TLC and maybe the Spice Girls come close. I'm talking hits and longevity two solid decades of billboard chart topping hits, spanning genres And all members leading the group on hits.
Well said..👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🤎🤎🤎🤎The Pointer Sisters are in a class by themselves! You had to have talent back n the day,and they oozed of it. Singing all genres of music, scatting in harmony, blended into 1 voice!😚🥰🤗got to give Bonnie the props because if it wasn't for her "The Black sheep.." the world would've never known these sisters! And they certainly didn't know what they had on the inside! Singers, songwriters..it was Bonnie's vision and the sisters gravitated to that one by one. 1st June, then Anita and finally Ruth. RIP June and Bonnie 💔🥀💔🥀🎼🎼🎼🎼
This is great!!! I was a young boy when the Pointer Sisters did their 1940s style of music and fashions in the early 1970s. I love them. I love The Andrews Sisters as well. This is a great musical segment. ❤❤
I remember seeing this on TV back in '74. I recall Patti hand slapping the Pointer Sisters in turn on, "Bei mir bist du schön". The Pointers wore costumes that were reminiscent of the early '40's. This was the '70's when there was a heavy interest in the Interwar Era, its music, styles, dances, and surviving personalities. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed when you see those who're no longer here: George Burns, June Pointer, and Patti Andrews -- R.I.P.
I got to say IMO this is the real Pointer Sisters when they were all over the map damn the 1980s...I mean everybody needs to eat but they're extremely progressive at this point just wonderful to the ears. Plus, when they did the funk, they brought it!
fun to see the pointer sisters when they were in their initial retro campy period....I got their autographs on their album at their appearance at Korvette's ...and saw Maxine and Patty on Broadway in Over Here.
When you combine versatility AND talent, among female (and even mixed) vocal groups the Pointer Sisters are truly in a class by themselves. Don't even mention Destiny's Child being remotely in the same league in my hearing. They've performed in the Grand Ole Opry AND the Apollo. I rest my case. This is just fantastic.
@@aarondigby5054 Yep. Pointers were the best girl group of the 70s ANNNNNND the 80s. That's two entire decades they owned. They're the best. Better than the Supremes, even.
Thank you Mr. DiFlorio for uploading this video, I had never seen it until now. America owes a debt of gratitude to African Americans for single handedly inventing the first(s) true, all American Art form(s). The Blues, Ragtime and most of all, JAZZ! The rest of America, knowing a good thing when they heard it, joined in and, all together, ROCKED THE WORLD! We heard The Pointer Sisters back in the 70's and they BLEW me and my rock 'n roll friends away. We started paying more attention to older music, including big band, later and earlier. The Pointers turned us on to The Andrew Sisters and Both versions of "Bugle Boy" Rocked our world. It is so good to see them perform together, it is making me cry for joy how we all can, not just get along, but Shine and Glow. It is a mutual Homage that this represents. If ANYONE doubts that Blacks are highly intelligent, for ONE thing, they can listen to some of the abstract, highly mathematical genres of Jazz, including "Cool" Jazz, blow their little minds AWAY.God bless us and God bless America. BTW I am not Black.
This was a great number. Many thought that Patti would hog too much of the limelight, but she had the strongest voice of the 3 sisters and was arguably the prettiest.
I had an audio cassette of this I made as a kid. So great to see the video and see all these women of incredible harmony. Now we mourn Bonnie Pointer's passing. R.I.P. Bonnie, June and Patty, stay strong Anita and Ruth.
Patty is not young here and she is amazing - In great shape, light as a feather on her feet, and the voice is still there. Integrating her with the Pointer Sisters was sheer genius. Delightful segment.
I was watching RUclips when the song Fire Came on. I looked at the tag line for the first time I guess. It said the pointer sisters. The Pointer sisters work group I watch with my parents. I’m sure they were called the pointer sisters. So I checked it out. Just as I remembered. With Patty Andrews and George Burns. I even remembered George Burns opening dialogue. They have to be related. So I’m doing the 411.
The Pointer sisters loved the Andrew sisters style of music and if they could they would have sang that style of music their whole career, but the era of music wouldn't allow them too.
❤️❤️❤️ Pointer Sisters... and happy to see Patti Andrews give props to the ethnicity that The Andrews Sisters joyfully imitated and had a legendary career from. George Burns you are a phenomenon💕
Seeing George (before he started wearing those dumb round glasses and really bad toupee) and Patti (when she still HAD IT) makes me smile. The Pointers brought everything home.
The Broadway appearance that George Burns mentions in the introduction was only Patty and Maxene, because the third sister Laverne had died by then. During the run, Patty suddenly walked off the stage literally in the midst of a performance and left Maxene and her understudy to finish the show. She never spoke to Maxene again after that - a very strange ending to their career.
@@karitahannikainen4734 And also to you! But I still don’t get it. I’ll figure it out… some hope to get some! Same hope to get same beat Pointers? Ohhh welll. I always loved them Sisters anyways. I can catch THAT beat for sure!! I’m hooked on Salt Peanuts!!
I love seeing all 4 pointer sister's

The Pointer Sisters are better than TLC and En Vogue IMHO. I like the Andrews Sisters, the Carters, sister sledge
.... The Spice Girls? Really?
@@mrburns444 The spice girls did rule the airwaves in their day.
It's warm my heart to see all the Sisters singing together. Beautiful harmonies. Ruth,Bonnie Anita and June..Love you ladies. R.I.P June.
I loved the original Pointer Sisters...all of them. So great and so beautiful....
and the beautiful and talented Andrew Sisters!

The Sisters at their finest! (the Jazz era) So classy to see Patti Andrews introduce them & then all five sing the Andrews Sisters' big hit.
The Andrews Sisters were really a talented group of Sisters who performed during the big war. The Pointer Sisters today.
RIP Anita, Bonnie and June. 💙Thank you for the amazing music!!!
Simply Beautiful i wasn’t born yet, i did not grow up with this music but thanks to the technology i can enjoy this classics now days!
The ever talented Pointers Sisters once again proving they can sing anything.

BEAUTIFUL .
Pointer Sisters and Andrews Sisters!!! Wow
Patti Andrews more than holds her own in this talented company.
There was never any girl group quite like the good looking , sassy , super-talented Pointer ladies . They had it all .

"Fabulous Pointer Sisters" - No better description!
"...You're too short." bwahaha
God they were tall!!
And look who told Patti that she was too short. I think it was the shortest member of the Pointer Sisters group, Bonnie. LOL!
Pointers Sisters singing a 1940s song vibe in the 1970s.

No need to show body parts or sleezy. They had beauty and talent. So classy!
Patty had soul
I wonder who was having a better time, The Sisters or Ms. Andrews?
Oh my gosh where did you find this Jewel that is so awesome those two legendary acts together but please tell me who is the monster on the drums

Why?
@@marjoryrainey73 I never read any explanation for this, so I presume Patty never said what her reason was.
What's the first song the Pointer Sisters do?
Little Pony
Laugh track applause track sad
Wait, I do believe that’s live, but I could be wrong. No microphones, but the audience is real? Anyways just enjoy maybe. Don’t be sad
I was amused to see Patty's exaggerated pompadour-style wig in the end of this sequence, to make her look like she did in the 1940s.
