    I would clean the tube with some brush or kitchen paper towel after defrost. There must be some buildup inside the tube that caused the problem.

    When you have your fridge pulled out and the cardboard removed you should vacuum off the coils and the dirt. This will extend the life of the fridge and lower your energy use.

    That must be exactly what the issue is with mine because I have the same appliance as yours.
    Thank you for sharing this because now I won't have to call a repair technician.
    You saved me money 👍

    I just diagnosed our fridge with this issue. Do you think that I could defrost the drain hole without removing the inside panel? Maybe the hair dryer, or pouring hot water through the openings?

    Thanks for the Video, this happened to me a few years ago and my lazy brain completely forgot about how i fixed it then till i watched your humorous video, though i opted for doing it in place by boiling hot water and poaring it slowly using a small funnel that fit through the opening, it took about 10-12 OZ to clear the pipe and i could see the water coming down into the drain pan :-)

    Lifesaver, thanks! I just poured hot water through the grill to melt off the ice

    ours kept leaking too. today I took the door off and racks and turned it off and put a header inside of it and it froze all the ice and unclogged the drain hole. took about 2-3 hrs cuz I wanted to make sure all the water drained down the hole completely

    “Pull fridge forward”? Umm… how? Are they supposed to be on wheels or something?
    Mine won’t budge!

    It would be nice if the coil heater included a heating element for the drain pan WHICH turned off AFTER the coil heater. But then we would have awesome videos like this. I'm going to put a thick piece of copper wire with a bend in a soldering iron and see if I can slide it through the vent hole and into the drain to thaw the ice plug.

    If the drain plugged up once what's to say it won't happen again?

    Hi, I did exactly what you did and it all worked. Thank you! After 3 or 4 weeks it came back and started to leak again. Hmm. Is it time to call a repair person?

    • @thefiXfiles
      @thefiXfiles  5 месяцев назад

      It probably froze back over again. They actually make a metal part you can buy that hangs off the coils into the drain hole. It’s metal so as the coils heat up, it heats up too and helps melt the ice. I didn’t find it until way after I made the video, but that might be a choice. You could probably make one yourself with a small piece of metal coat hanger or other wire. Good luck friend.

    exactly the same issue for me. I didn't open the back, just use hot water and hair dryer to melt the ice and drain through the hole.

      yeah that would definitely save some effort. It hasn't happened to mine again since posting this video, but I'll be doing the same thing next time.

      @thefiXfiles  Год назад +1

      yes it has wheels. if you push it then it should roll.
