@@WtTw-x2l The only thing I can think of if it’s not screwed on, there has to be a latch (latches) somewhere that hold it in place. Unless it’s glued on. Your best bet would be to search for a manual for your particular model to see how the assembly is held in place. Good luck!

I got to feeling bad about selling a leaky fridge but so glad I found your video, which gave me (66 y/o grandma) the confidence to fix it! Turned out the bio-slime plug was lodge way down-inside the channel running inside the body of the fridge, so I snaked it out with some flexible wire, ran hot water through it using a long flexible funnel. Now I can sell this old fridge and not worry about it being someone else's problem.

Thank you! I probably should call my landlord before attempting this, but it is good to be able to tell him what I think the problem is, and that it probably won't cost much if he prefers to send someone over. My apartment has had many problems (none of which I caused) from the time I moved in, so I just hate having to ask for help again.

It's pretty painless. Take out the four screws, unplug the tray from the nipple in the back. I put a nylon over the hose of a vacuum cleaner, and sucked goop out of the drain hose in the back. With the nylon to catch it, I could see exactly what was in there. You can do this in less time than it would take to call the landlord.

Thanks for the great video. I had some food particles that lodged further down the drain tube and I was unable to clean it out with a wire because the drain tube is not straight and narrows as it travels to the bottom. I was also unable to clean the tube from their bottom. What I did to clear the drain hose was to squirt liquid bleach into the top drain hole with a turkey baster and let it set until it cleared the blockage. I then rinsed it with plain water until the blockage was completely gone.

Well, my hole was filled with what appears to be cat hair and mildew. I removed this thick plug. I cleaned out the catch basin after removing the ice-skating rink in it. Fixed mine in 10 minutes. Spent more time looking for my socket adapter.😢. Felt very confident while doing the work.
    Great video. To the point!

    Omg.
I just did this in my fridge because was leaking. It just took my less then 10 min to take apart, take out what was blocking it and put back. It was ice and some nasty gunk.
Thank you so much for this video 👍👍👍

Thanks for this video. It was a great help. I had ice up in the recess space, but no water in the light fixture. At least I know where to check going forward and what to do. Thanks much!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Took about 10 minutes to fix something that was a pain in the posterior for a long time and causing unnecessary anxiety.

This was incredibly helpful. I followed instructions -- a snap, if you have a 1/4 socket driver -- and it all worked exactly as described. I found some slimy goo in the nipple and in the tray, and cleaned them both out. I suppose it's possible that there's a blockage somewhere in the drain line, causing it to back up, but if that had been the case, I'd have expected to find water in the drain line, and I didn't. So, I think this solved the problem. If not, I'll try to snake it, perhaps with a bit of coax cable, since I've found that to be an ideal snake for certain plumbing applications. At any rate, thanks for this. In their wisdom the Frigidaire folks don't seem to have any online information on how to do simple repairs like this, and the manual doesn't even mention that there's a drain line back there. The word "nipple" doesn't come up either, but there might be something else going on there!

Thank you for the explanation and demonstration: this is extremely useful information. I cannot believe how much water pools at the bottom of the fridge due to this problem. Frigidaire in general is not as reliable in terms of longevity as it used to be (minus this problem). God bless you!

Man. I was searching Maytag manuals, videos, and forums for this exact problem, but didn’t trust my luck removing anything. Thanks for this video - it’s compatible with Maytag model MTB2193AR! Fished out a whole lot of yuck from the clogged drain!
