- Today I wanted to explain some of the changes to the way the Flake works, why they are the way they are. I did also want to take the time to talk about what kind of improvements are coming for the Wiki and the project.

Excellent work Tyler (couldn't help but smile a little at the sight of Buddy)! Iam currently working on another PC build that will be dedicated to bare-metal experiments and it will be ground zero for your config. I am not ready to wipe out my production system just yet because NixOS is still a little scary for me to do that. But I am reading and learning and enjoying the process. I think you have reasonable aspirations about transitioning to full-time support of the Nix project and I don't mind helping out the cause after I get set up. Thanks man!
Hey man i absolutely love the project so far your configurations and videos have helped me immensly in using and upgrading my nix setup. One thing i noticed while playing around with your flake however was extremely high cpu usage at idle (around 20-30%) htop and btop both traced this to hyprland however after doing some digging the wallsetter script you were using was acually the culprit. After disabling this and writing something similar that only gets called on keybinds instead of on the exec-once function my idle cpu usage dropped down to
I haven’t had an issue with high cpu usage but thank you and I’ll do some investigating on it later today after work. Have a great day!
@ZaneyOG no worries, I wouldn't have been able to get this far in nix without your beautifully organized nix files. The script itself doesn't seem to use a lot of cpu however if I understand correctly there's something with how the exec-once function "daemonizes" the script that can cause performance issues. Having it start from a separate script might do the trick or in my case I was satisfied Binding next and previous wallpapers to a script that only gets called on the keybind instead of being ran as a "daemon" through hyprland

Hey Zaney After Ran flake-update and rand flake-rebuild. I am getting the following error: "Module `:anon-9:anon-1' has an unsupported attribute `enable'. This is caused by introducing a top-level `config' or `options' attribute. Add configuration attributes immediately on the top level instead, or move all of them (namely: enable extraConfigLua extraConfigVim extraPlugins globals keymaps plugins) into the explicit `config' attribute." Can You help? Thank You in advance!

Is there a reason you're not using NixOS modules to configure things and are instead requiring passing in a bunch of special args?
I have moved everything into an options.nix file to make it simpler. I just started off doing it that way.
Hey Zaney I have tried your new configuration using the option.nix file. When I tried to rebuild it keeps changing the ownership of my home directory to root.So, my home manager services keeps failing to start. Do you know what is causing that problem? Thank You in advance!
Yes. I recommend starting over with the guide on the readme. I released the stable branch today and the options.nix is better commented. There is an option for impermanence where you are running from a tempfs. This is enabled by default because I am running my system that way but this will break your home permissions if you are not doing the same thing I am. So now the Wiki and options.nix tell you to set it to false unless you know what your doing.

My new PC build has no Wi-Fi and the Ethernet in my room wasn’t working. So I took the opportunity to clean my room while my setup was in the room with Ethernet working. They got the Ethernet in my room working yesterday and my new nice Ethernet cable just got here 😁
