Hey guy’s I go to the islands a lot and I’ve been wearing G-shocks for last 20 years. You can tell the difference most of the time by color quality and rubber quality. You will also know when you go in swimming pool or the ocean and the water resistance is definitely not the same! Most of the Fake ones I see are in islands at these side jewelry shops, they look good but colors are off and they may have weird color combinations! I always go to a REAL watch store to buy my G-shocks! Even Walmart won’t sell you a fake g-shock but theirs are just cheaper models but NOT fake! Lol!! I personally won’t buy a g-shock unless I can feel it or look closely at clarity of colors in my hands. The Fake ones usually have a Crayola crayon type look as far as coloring! Hope this helps some of you guys who are new to g-shocks🙂
Thanks for sharing that Allen... from what I have seen in the past, indeed a lot of the poorer ("lower grade"?) fakes do have discernible differences in rubber quality as well as color tones. And certainly the water resistance is not up to par. However there are probable different grades to these counterfeits, with this one being near the top. Have a look when I placed the straps side by side, showing the texture, etc. The feel is the same here and I think not possible to separate, which is scary!
Just received a GA700-1B that I ordered from a reputable dealer but the packaging was "questionable". I have ordered many G-Shocks from them before but felt a little uneasy about the inconsistent packaging. Thanks to YOUR video, I was able to confirm that I in fact was sold and sent the genuine article, silencing my concerns that were due to the packaging. In looking at the two watches, side by side, the only obvious difference is the hour/minute hands of the knock off version look much different than the real Casio. Everything else looks pretty similar which is scary! Good job! Thanks..
This is frightening! You innocently are buying a product and paying the price, and then in the end you receive a fake one! Not very pleasing to be ripped off! About 30 years ago I was ripped off with an expensive watch purchase. I learned the hard way mine was fake when it failed about a year after I bought it. I was not as knowledgeable about watches as I am today. I was figuring that since the most of the Casio watches are not so expensive, it would not pay for someone to produce fake ones! This surprised me!

Hmmm... I seem the remember being very weary of that piece when it arrived. I did a bit of research before i bought my Gshock and as a result i bought mine from a brick and motar local store as I couldn't trust any listings online haha. Cudos for making a video about this Ivan 👍
I just got one of these, red GA-700 from an authorised dealer in İstanbul after ALMOST ordering a Chinese one! It came in the correct box, with manual, warranty and a local distributor warranty too. They do make good fakes and honestly those watches with no outer box or warranty cards may well be fake, but the supplier is giving a warranty on them. There's no reason not to give all the documents and packaging as they come from Casio. The reason they don't give you the box or warranty card is because 99.9%, they're good fakes.
Nice heads up, thanks for sharing. Just an additional info regarding the outside features. To confirm authenticity at first glance, I always compare the details engraved in the backplate and the underside of the strap buckle. When the backplate states that the watch is cased in Thailand, the underside of the buckle should also state Thailand. If the backplate states that it is cased in China, the underside of the buckle should also state China. If the backplate and buckle state different countries, then that's a major red flag for me.

Oh dear. Someone tried to sell me fake Casio Gshock 6 months ago. I didn't have anything for comparison, but looking at the pictures on the Internet, I spotted a little difference in the sub dials. The real one has little holes in the sub dials, and the one I had in my hands did not. That was my first pointer. Just like this fake, the plastic case didn't feel "good" . The colour was off too. I didn't buy the watch, and the seller was just very angry. That attitude confirmed what I already new, the man was a fraud. Lessons learned today. It is really hard to buy on the used market. The only thing is, ask for the original papers from the shop. That could help a little.
I just scored a GMWB5000D-1, box, papers, tin, everything, for about $200. I thought I was getting a super deal. Turns out it's a fake. Really bummed! Also, congrats on 16k subs Ivan.

@@PerthWAtch Nah, it doesn't have anything of that sort. Everything is perfect. The Bluetooth connection was working, stoped working 2 hours later. The dial which shows on which mode the watch is right now also kind of appears to be not on place. Just that.
Could it be that they made by a different manufacturer like Seiko for example they got the Japanese and the Malaysia one they look the same but they got a little differences.
Almost certainly not, for various reasons - this includes the functions not being the same, the module looking different, the quality level being inferior, and the manual looking like a photocopy! If that is not enough for you, GearBest stated to me that they removed the listing after finding out it's a counterfeit.
OK i understand that you can be scammed, but my question is what is the differnce btw fake and original, both have same working function ,both are precise, both water resist, iluminated, both showing the time, have stopwatch bla bla, maybe the original have a little better plastic quality?
The quality of the fake one is poorer and very likely will not stand up to the standard G-shock resistances. More importantly is that this was not sold as a fake, but being passed off as the real thing, with Casio rather than Chinese KO pricing.

I am watching this as i have baught 2 new ones from Amazon, not sold by a vendor but sold from Amazon directly, good news is i have one of these watches from 2013 and its exactly the same . The other not 100% on as ive never owned the model. But all seems legit with instructions boxes and hardware. Both even had the G shock sale tag attached. Great breakdown. Thank you

Thanks. I’m curious why you would want a fake one... it’s a G-shock after all, and should survive many things a human wouldn’t... a fake doesn’t feel the same, and even if it’s a good fake you will always know it’s a false product...
This amounts to economic warfare. It’s also against international law, and national laws. The police should be contacted in this case, because Gearbest is not a small dealer with no real legitimacy.
I'm not familiar with the details of such laws in China... in any case GearBest have removed the listing (they tell me they did so when they found out it was a fake). If you feel the police should still be contacted, you should go ahead and do that ;)
This week I received a Casio A158WA which was fake. It looked very real for an inexpensive watch. The differences are somewhat esoteric. Casio knows but copiers don't. There should have been a small U under water resist. The case back screws had no way of using a flat head screwdriver like a real Casio. Casio screws have a longer cut one way. Your fake has the wrong screws. Apologies if you actually said that. It was really strange. There were other minutiae as well. The eBay seller, I genuinely believe he had no idea. He's selling a few of these at a price that's too good to be true and if it looks that way, we know it probably is. They're getting more clever the counterfeiters, and we have to be sharper. So Gearbest sent you a fake Casio!? That's really worrying. There have been recently some discussion on WUS that AliExpress has more and more fakes for sale so one needs to be very careful nowadays. Feels rather odd that it's really worth faking a somewhat comlicated watch priced around $100.
Yeah this was from GearBest, however after becoming aware of the issue they have now removed the listing. This was particularly scary as I thought it would totally not be worth the effort faking, but maybe I'm wrong... maybe it's actually quite easy to create the fake quartz module...??
@@PerthWAtch And not just the module but everything else starting from the box etc. This much effort for probably a modest gain. I would understand this better with Rolex or Omega which are vastly more expensive. But with those cases at least the buyer most likely knows that he is buying a fake watch.
I just got one a baby g from ebay and found the embossing on back of buckle crooked and not as deep as the other g shocks also the embossing reads Casio Japan -While the others read Casio China.
I thought I won an auction on ebay for a very nice gshock that costs about $500. my bid for $39 won. I was so excited, it is for sure fake. it's noticeably lighter than any gshock I've ever owned and it has that same dome shaped outer casing as your fake gshock.

So in order to have a real deal just buy on authorized dealer whether on store or on line cause nowadays the knock off stuff is getting better and more detailed as same on the real deal
Going with AD is the safe route, and this would be mainly bricks and mortar stores... not aware of any online only AD, but please let me know if you are aware. I think eBay is safe given the buyer protection provided you know what to look out for.
Nice vid as always ;) That's a pretty good copy. I just bought a fake yacht master. I can't find any one making a good review of a fake one, but one thing i can say on the the one i got for around 70$ is that it has the wrong bezel. Movement is decent, it's a 2813 though xD but it works ok. Obviously doesn't have a serial number at the bottom of the "inner dial bezel" or whatever that is called. And the lume... damn i've seen some bad ones but on this YM it's just so bad i'd rather have no lume.
Interesting to hear that. Personally I have made it a bit of a channel policy that I will not knowingly feature counterfeit products. Homage is fine with me, counterfeit is not. So I won't be reviewing those... at least not knowingly.

You can't judge that it's fake because mismatched boxes and manuals. You ever buy a Gshock from a department store? They got cabinets full of empty boxes, and they just grab the first Casio box that is readily available. Doesn't bother me though.
There's a difference between a "knock-off" and a "replica." If you got a watch, and have done your due diligence in research, and now know is fake, but it's still a damn nice watch, works perfectly, and you have no hesitation s about wearing out, it's probably a replica... You guys know that Hasbro ISN'T the only company that LEGALLY manufacturers Transformers action figures... even though they own the copyright, right?

The first thing i notice about the fake one is the material it use. The rubber itself will tell you if its a fake one. Fake one tend to be more shiny but this one is an exception. You can tell from the get go if you compare this two. This only apply to the low end since i only buy low end g shock

Fake is on the RIGHT... that should be clear from the entire thrust of the video. At 2:15 I mistakenly said left but was actually gesturing toward the stuff on the right side of screen.
Those fake Gs are called "OEM" from where I am. They usually come in brown paperbags and they have that sticker with a red line on it. The most commonly sold fakes here are the GA-100, GA-110 and the one that has both the Edifice and G-Shock branding.

I hate to say this about my own people, but I don't trust Chinese sellers. That's why I asked if it's legit in your previous Gearbest G-Shock video. BTW, the G on the G-SHOCK at the top of the dial of the fake one is slightly smaller than the rest of the letters. Maybe they only changed it from S-SHOCK to G-SHOCK, which makes it a knock off of a knock off... KNOCK-OFFCEPTION!!
This is the reason I stopped collecting G-Shocks, bought a Casio Pathfinder / Protrek instead (PRG-240T). Much harder to counterfeit, and more useful to me in general.
@@PerthWAtch I admit that the watch is a quality built piece on its own and I suppose it’s made that way for a specific market but I rarely see working men wear anything like that but, there’s a watch made for every wrist. Here in San Antonio, TX I come across a lot of these flashy Casios at dirt cheap prices, sometimes I’ll grab one when they’re around $15 and in great shape, some I keep in a bag and some I give to friends if they like them. I have found a couple Casio ABC watches at local pawn shops for $50-$70 that were GREAT deals. But my PRG-600 series is the one I bought used but like new on Amazon for $180 and it’s on my wrist always. I switched out the band for an OD green nylon strap with black leather inlay for a more military appearance and it fits great, I always keep the original straps in the case for obvious reasons. Like you, I’m amazed at how far these copied versions have improved, never seen that before. While I was in Iraq in 2003 we had monthly bazaars where Iraqi vendors would set up small stands and we had a few watch vendors that brought in all kinds of replicas and many were amazing, I still have a couple of them. The local jewelry shops near Baumholder, Germany was hit hard when sneaky Soldiers sold them to the German owners as real versions. These cost us $30-$50 per quality fake watch and they were convincing. These watches came from a floating factory that was a ship that traveled to various ports and sold watches to vendors then after a few days, they’d move to another port in some middle eastern country. While in Iraq I wore a gold faced Arnie and she never let me down. I gave the Arnie to a Kurdish man who was a commander in the new Iraqi Army that we trained in 2003-04, he was a great man, we noticed that the day all the new applicants arrived, most of the new recruits were playing grab ass and we’re generally low quality but one man stuck out and we all noticed it, turns out that Kurds are far different than Arab Iraqis since they don’t inbreed as Iraqis do. So, to pay my respects, I gifted him the Arnie, I hope he’s still alive and well.

Always stick to reputable sellers, I know that may limit your selection sometimes but atleast you know your getting the real deal.

The Casio resin also smells different. The fake ones smell like rubber and release agent and never goes away.

@@PerthWAtch Nah, it doesn't have anything of that sort. Everything is perfect. The Bluetooth connection was working, stoped working 2 hours later. The dial which shows on which mode the watch is right now also kind of appears to be not on place. Just that.

Could it be that they made by a different manufacturer like Seiko for example they got the Japanese and the Malaysia one they look the same but they got a little differences.
Almost certainly not, for various reasons - this includes the functions not being the same, the module looking different, the quality level being inferior, and the manual looking like a photocopy!
If that is not enough for you, GearBest stated to me that they removed the listing after finding out it's a counterfeit.

OK i understand that you can be scammed, but my question is what is the differnce btw fake and original, both have same working function ,both are precise, both water resist, iluminated, both showing the time, have stopwatch bla bla, maybe the original have a little better plastic quality?
The quality of the fake one is poorer and very likely will not stand up to the standard G-shock resistances.
More importantly is that this was not sold as a fake, but being passed off as the real thing, with Casio rather than Chinese KO pricing.

I am watching this as i have baught 2 new ones from Amazon, not sold by a vendor but sold from Amazon directly, good news is i have one of these watches from 2013 and its exactly the same . The other not 100% on as ive never owned the model. But all seems legit with instructions boxes and hardware. Both even had the G shock sale tag attached. Great breakdown. Thank you

This amounts to economic warfare. It’s also against international law, and national laws. The police should be contacted in this case, because Gearbest is not a small dealer with no real legitimacy.
I'm not familiar with the details of such laws in China... in any case GearBest have removed the listing (they tell me they did so when they found out it was a fake). If you feel the police should still be contacted, you should go ahead and do that ;)

The G Shocks are some of the most respected watched in the world. Thus, some of the copied as well.
This week I received a Casio A158WA which was fake. It looked very real for an inexpensive watch. The differences are somewhat esoteric. Casio knows but copiers don't. There should have been a small U under water resist. The case back screws had no way of using a flat head screwdriver like a real Casio. Casio screws have a longer cut one way. Your fake has the wrong screws. Apologies if you actually said that. It was really strange. There were other minutiae as well. The eBay seller, I genuinely believe he had no idea. He's selling a few of these at a price that's too good to be true and if it looks that way, we know it probably is. They're getting more clever the counterfeiters, and we have to be sharper. So Gearbest sent you a fake Casio!? That's really worrying. There have been recently some discussion on WUS that AliExpress has more and more fakes for sale so one needs to be very careful nowadays. Feels rather odd that it's really worth faking a somewhat comlicated watch priced around $100.
Yeah this was from GearBest, however after becoming aware of the issue they have now removed the listing. This was particularly scary as I thought it would totally not be worth the effort faking, but maybe I'm wrong... maybe it's actually quite easy to create the fake quartz module...??
@@PerthWAtch And not just the module but everything else starting from the box etc. This much effort for probably a modest gain. I would understand this better with Rolex or Omega which are vastly more expensive. But with those cases at least the buyer most likely knows that he is buying a fake watch.

I just got one a baby g from ebay and found the embossing on back of buckle crooked and not as deep as the other g shocks also the embossing reads Casio Japan -While the others read Casio China.

I thought I won an auction on ebay for a very nice gshock that costs about $500. my bid for $39 won. I was so excited, it is for sure fake. it's noticeably lighter than any gshock I've ever owned and it has that same dome shaped outer casing as your fake gshock.

So in order to have a real deal just buy on authorized dealer whether on store or on line cause nowadays the knock off stuff is getting better and more detailed as same on the real deal
Going with AD is the safe route, and this would be mainly bricks and mortar stores... not aware of any online only AD, but please let me know if you are aware. I think eBay is safe given the buyer protection provided you know what to look out for.

I just bought a fake yacht master. I can't find any one making a good review of a fake one, but one thing i can say on the the one i got for around 70$ is that it has the wrong bezel.
Movement is decent, it's a 2813 though xD but it works ok. Obviously doesn't have a serial number at the bottom of the "inner dial bezel" or whatever that is called.
And the lume... damn i've seen some bad ones but on this YM it's just so bad i'd rather have no lume.
Interesting to hear that. Personally I have made it a bit of a channel policy that I will not knowingly feature counterfeit products. Homage is fine with me, counterfeit is not. So I won't be reviewing those... at least not knowingly.

You can't judge that it's fake because mismatched boxes and manuals. You ever buy a Gshock from a department store? They got cabinets full of empty boxes, and they just grab the first Casio box that is readily available. Doesn't bother me though.

There's a difference between a "knock-off" and a "replica." If you got a watch, and have done your due diligence in research, and now know is fake, but it's still a damn nice watch, works perfectly, and you have no hesitation s about wearing out, it's probably a replica... The first thing i notice about the fake one is the material it use. The rubber itself will tell you if its a fake one. Fake one tend to be more shiny but this one is an exception. You can tell from the get go if you compare this two. This only apply to the low end since i only buy low end g shock

Fake is on the RIGHT... that should be clear from the entire thrust of the video. At 2:15 I mistakenly said left but was actually gesturing toward the stuff on the right side of screen.

Those fake Gs are called "OEM" from where I am. They usually come in brown paperbags and they have that sticker with a red line on it. The most commonly sold fakes here are the GA-100, GA-110 and the one that has both the Edifice and G-Shock branding.
Interesting, but OEM is not appropriate use - the O stands for “original”, which those most certainly are not.

If you buy a watch with Waveceptor (multiband 6) it helps. Most fakes don't sync.

I did not try with this watch, but I know that many fakes have different construction and parts won’t be interchangeable with genuine Casio.
I hate to say this about my own people, but I don't trust Chinese sellers. That's why I asked if it's legit in your previous Gearbest G-Shock video. BTW, the G on the G-SHOCK at the top of the dial of the fake one is slightly smaller than the rest of the letters. Maybe they only changed it from S-SHOCK to G-SHOCK, which makes it a knock off of a knock off... KNOCK-OFFCEPTION!!

This is the reason I stopped collecting G-Shocks, bought a Casio Pathfinder / Protrek instead (PRG-240T). Much harder to counterfeit, and more useful to me in general.

I wear the PRG-600YB daily but I have a few pro treks and other watches made by Casio, these large ones are just too flashy for my taste.

@@PerthWAtch I admit that the watch is a quality built piece on its own and I suppose it’s made that way for a specific market but I rarely see working men wear anything like that but, there’s a watch made for every wrist. Here in San Antonio, TX I come across a lot of these flashy Casios at dirt cheap prices, sometimes I’ll grab one when they’re around $15 and in great shape, some I keep in a bag and some I give to friends if they like them. I have found a couple Casio ABC watches at local pawn shops for $50-$70 that were GREAT deals. But my PRG-600 series is the one I bought used but like new on Amazon for $180 and it’s on my wrist always. I switched out the band for an OD green nylon strap with black leather inlay for a more military appearance and it fits great, I always keep the original straps in the case for obvious reasons. Like you, I’m amazed at how far these copied versions have improved, never seen that before. While I was in Iraq in 2003 we had monthly bazaars where Iraqi vendors would set up small stands and we had a few watch vendors that brought in all kinds of replicas and many were amazing, I still have a couple of them. The local jewelry shops near Baumholder, Germany was hit hard when sneaky Soldiers sold them to the German owners as real versions. These cost us $30-$50 per quality fake watch and they were convincing. These watches came from a floating factory that was a ship that traveled to various ports and sold watches to vendors then after a few days, they’d move to another port in some middle eastern country. While in Iraq I wore a gold faced Arnie and she never let me down. I gave the Arnie to a Kurdish man who was a commander in the new Iraqi Army that we trained in 2003-04, he was a great man, we noticed that the day all the new applicants arrived, most of the new recruits were playing grab ass and we’re generally low quality but one man stuck out and we all noticed it, turns out that Kurds are far different than Arab Iraqis since they don’t inbreed as Iraqis do. So, to pay my respects, I gifted him the Arnie, I hope he’s still alive and well.
