hi, my favorite band. hooked since 1999 with the Channeling album. collect everything from them since. great to watch a video like yours for this band that not a lot of people talk about. they really deserve more. hail from Quebec City 🤘
I'm glad you had Fractal Possession so high up the list, I remember hearing it a few years ago through the youtube algorithm and just sitting there in awe. To me its almost like musical heroin almost like a whirlwind of chaos enveloping you, like its the music you hear when satan pulls you through a black hole as your body is ripped apart by gravitational forces and forbidden incomprehensible knowledge is fed to you as you go insane and are pulled through alternate universes of pure suffering and death. HAHA that was pretty exaggerated but yeah its definitely up there with Nachthymen and Verwustung for me too.
Yeah, there's just something about Fractal Possession that just hits the spot for me and that's a cool description Haha! Thanks for checking out the video...
I remember eyeing off the vinyl box a few years back when it was around the $300 mark but slept on it. I'd hate to see what it goes for these days. Glad to have the cd's though...
Hey thanks for this, it’s good to hear from what has always been my favorite band since 1994. I’m not agreeing with everything, I’d especially advise you to give Opus IV another go, especially the first 3 songs. I think this record sums up where Abigor was standing at that time after a few albums, and where they were going. But they did it in a way that basically had everything in it. Some moments are pure beauty, others are raw aggressive riffs. It is to me what represents their real maturity and it went downhill from there - or somewhere else to say the least. Cheers
Yeah,I see Opus IV as the point where they moved away from the more catchier ear pleasing riffs and melodies and started incorporating more of the dissonant riffs that would become a staple for their career moving forward from this point. Thanks for your comment...it's always good to hear different opinions regarding albums.
I still remember the first time I heard Fractal Possessions. I used to hang out in this heavy metal cd store and smoke weed with my band member and the guy who ran the store. Such an amazing album. At the top of list of greatest black metal albums ever for me.
I Love Abigor because of the experimental work… Like everyone can easily recognize AC⚡️DC …. Abigor is easily recognized as their own unique black metal band because of their style
Just subbed, took a look at your other ranking videos, and you have great taste! Plus, there are very few channels that cover BM, and not all of this boring DM that everyone loves these days!! Cheers!! P.S, why did you not include Orkblut EP??
Hmmm...I thought I actually did include Orkblut. I will have to rewatch it...my mistake if I did because I definitely consider it important in their discography and I added Apokalypse. Good point regarding the death metal that's popular nowadays...I love quality death metal but there's an oversaturation of stuff that does nothing for me.
Opus IV, Apokalypse and Channeling the Quintessence of Satan are my favorites of their 90's output. Fractal Possession, Leytmotif Luzifer and Totschläger are my favorites for their later era. I can't wait for Taphonomia Aeternitatis.
I actually think Satanized is a great album. Far from the best from the Napalm era but it's really grown on me. My ranking: 13. Fractal Possession 12. Hollenzwang 11. Leytmotif Lucifer 10. Totschlager 9. Time Is The Sulphur 8. Satanized 7. Apokalypse 6. Orkblut 5. Channeling The Quintessence of Saran 4. Opus IV 3. Supreme Immortal Art 2. Verwustung 1. Nachthymnen
Yeah,in all honesty and I mention it in the video that I really hated it when I first heard it but I definitely don't have that same level of dislike for it nowadays and it does even have some good moments but it had to come in last for me.
@@thenamelessmetalpodcast yeah I mean coming at the tail end of so many masterpieces that came before it I could definitely see it being a disappointment. I was really surprised by your placement of Fractal Possession. Even though that was at the bottom of list, I still enjoy it. I like all their albums more or less.

im the one behind the shadows - german maiden sang :D
Great video. The Complete Hörnix Recordings box set has just been given a CD version. Very tempting.

@Aphex Aphex I love Opus IV. The ending of "Spektrale Schattenlichter" is one of my all time favorite pieces of music.
@@vladtepes9614 yeah it’s a good example of how moving their music can also be

Yeah, there's no denying since Fractal Possession every release has been pushing the envelope in some sort of way...

Fractal Possession was the album that finally hooked me into Abigor, a great, somewhat unheralded band.
Indeed...it doesn't seem to get mentioned too often that's for sure
Excellent underrated band
Absolutely
Nice list man!
Thanks!

Interesting list! Would you consider doing a Marduk ranking?
Yeah,that could definitely happen
RIP PK. 🔥⚔️
It's going to be interesting to see what the future holds for Abigor without PK
Nachthymnen does it for me.
abigor not sloppy and not weak :D
Only the drumming on Satanized
best is with orcs on cover. but all the rest is
brilliant :D
Supreme immortal art is tied with opus lV as my favorite abigor stuff .

Saran? Hahaha
Samael Blood ritual intro!
Total Consecration
Dornen was a cringe song, but other than that Nachthymnen is also perfect. Supreme Immortal Art was perfection.
if youre gonna call dornen a cringe song you might as well call the whole album cringe too
