I'll never understand the hatred critics and people have for 2013. It was definetly one of the best year's for music in the 2010's and one of the most varied. This was the year I began middle school and felt the most interested in music. 2013 also feels like one of the most definitive year's of the 2010's with a bunch of song's that rank among some of the best and most memorable of the decade that I still hear often. EDM, Indie music, piano ballads, folk song's, disco and new wave retro influenced pop, Hip Hop/early Trap, and Country. Considering how different things are today, it's starting to feel longer than 7 year's ago.
People tend to hate it because it's bad stuff was like... really bad. It's kind of a mixed bag since we have some really good songs and some really bad ones, I tilt more to the good side personally though.
Lots of the worst hits of 2013 were some of the biggest tbh such as We Can't Stop, Blurred Lines, and Cruise, but I have a very soft spot for so many other songs from this year that people still remember today such as Can't Hold Us, Wake Me Up, and Suit & Tie especially. This was a fantastic year for music.
Man I remember this summer! I'm not a huge fan of country, but the country songs at this time were my all time favorite. I would purposefully turn on the country radio just to hear See You Again, Highway Don't Care, Boys Round Here, Wagon Wheel, Get Your Shine On, Sure Be Cool if You Did, etc.
End of 6th grade before I started middle school. Aww, 6th grade was when I first started paying attention to the Hot 100. So I remember all these songs through that.
My top 20 rating cause why not 20. #Beautiful- 7/10 19. #Thatpower- 5/10 (GP lol) 18. Feel this moment- 4/10 17. MSKWYDITD (Light em up)- 9/10 16. Boys round here- 3/10 15. Wagon wheel- 5/10 14. Unpopular opinions: As a Mariah fan I didn’t really like “beautiful” idk why I just didn’t “Just give me a reason” was the best #1 that year “Heart Attack” is Demi’s best song. This was Bruno Mars best era. “Fine China” should’ve been a bigger hit
As someone in my late 30s it's weird watching this video, because 7 years IS genuinely a long time, yet it's also weird to be watching a "flashback" to a time that was seven years AFTER people could start youtubing music. A fair amount of similarity to today's charts but I feel there was more energy then than now.
Yeah even as someone who was transitioning into middle school and is only in my early 20's, it's honestly odd seeing just how quickly dated 2010-2014 became. A lot of older people wouldn't be able to notice how but music trends of a time do prove and reflect how life is always changing. It also feels a lot longer than 7 year's ago since many of the big music/pop culture trends of 2013 are not really around anymore.
@@mcamman6193 "A lot of older people wouldn't be able to notice how but music trends of a time do prove and reflect how life is always changing." The funniest, most tone deaf, comment I've read all day. I'm guessing you must be about 12 or 13.
Back when we have some kind of variety EDM , pop , alternative , rnb , hip hop country until streaming came in and the obsession with trap music becomes a pandemic virus sadly ... streaming just kill variety

Is it me but do a lot of the hip hop songs sound cheap? Also some of the other songs like I love it, The other side & feel this moment were so overproduced
I was in middle school in 2013. Now I’m in college. Time has FLOWN

This is the year that I got into pop music but the following year was when I discovered Billboard
I was 54 in 2013, man this was some good music.

“Heart Attack” is Demi’s best song.

“Fine China” should’ve been a bigger hit
Beautiful is still better than the absolutely atrocious "Obsessed"
I only liked the remix version with Young Jeezy. Idk why but I just don't like the main version with Miguel

The last year of a large presence of EDM songs! I remember I was in love with Young And Beautiful and I liked so much The Great Gatsby's soundtrack :)

Back when we have some kind of variety EDM , pop , alternative , rnb , hip hop country until streaming came in and the obsession with trap music becomes a pandemic virus sadly ... streaming just kill variety
Back when sounding too much like a black person automatically ment an artist wouldn't get to the top of the chart. Terrible era. 2004>>>>>
This might have been my hs graduation week. 😩😩😩

#Beautiful by mariah carey has a higher chance to be her 19th number 1 on that time. But she has an accident and there's lack of promotion after that.
By now she should have 25 number one song on billboard or even more, shake it off, bye bye, #beautiful, obsessed, loverboy, cant let go, make it happen, its like that, this should be perfect if this her number one song.

That was painful to watch. I had to view it 2x the speed to get through it. I prefer popular mainstream music from the mid 1930’s up to around 2002.
