I did crown lengthening last January. After the surgery, most of my teeth become extremely sensitive for 3 months. I thought I would live the rest of my life with this hypersensitivity. However, today and after 6 months, the sensitivity is totally disappeared. My teeth look great , no more gum bleedings. It is the Best decision I ever took to expose my buried teeth under my gum for the last 20 years.
“Freed from smile prison” that’s a good one. But you’re so right, I know friends who’ve had crown lengthening done to fix their gummy smile and they are so happy with their results and much more confident.
I haven’t been completely satisfied with the dental care I have been receiving in years. Would love to come in for a consult or exam, to figure out EVERYTHING I honestly need done.
I had crowns on #1 and #2 that continually fell out. Eventually I was referred to a periodontist who performed crown lengthening of those two teeth in order to expose more surface area for cementing the crowns. Frankly it was painful for a few months but worth it in the end. Since the goal is preserving teeth, this operation succeeded.
I had a butcher talk me into an anterior crown years ago. No impressions, no lab work. I dont know what he did, but my interdental papilla is actually on the outside of the space between the two front teeth. It has always been a little swolen since, and I can lift it with a toothpick to reveal the hole where i assume it should be. This absolutley breaks my heart everyday I have to look at it in the miror, because it was just a small chip that should have been re-bonded. Ever see something like this and can it be fixed?...I hate the non fitted crown anyway, and want that re done eventually. It was placed supra gingival, and im just starting to see a little black margin above the crown.
hi doctor, my doc is planning to pull out two of my teeth because there are no space left (my teeth have lot of spaces 6 months ago). but he said, will worsen my gummy smile (which i already have right now). so he’s suggesting to put TAD to fix the gummy smile. can i know whats the pros and cons of TAD as compared to this crown lengthening?

Ouch! Too much gum removed on the first two. 1/2 would have been much better.
