Criminal Cover Up

  • The satellite tag from a missing golden eagle has been found wrapped in lead sheeting, antenna cut off, thrown in a Highland river.
The young eagle arrived in Strathbraan in spring 2016. Within a few days his tag suddenly, inexplicably, stopped. It was suspected that the bird had been killed, and the tag destroyed. Now we know what happened to the tag.
This appalling criminality against our protected birds of prey must be stopped. We are calling for robust and immediate regulation from Scottish Government.

This is a great piece but it needs to be shown on National TV, over & over again.

I am in a state of shock I did not know that people would go to such lengths to destroy our natural heritage. it must be time to do something but what that something would be i do not know.

Can there not be fines introduced to the land owners every time an eagle is killed? If they get charged when a bird disappears the amount of killings will probably plummet.

An incredible, powerful, moving video - congratulations to Ian and all who created it. Let's hope it gets the wide publicity it deserves.
Just look at the life shining in the eyes of the golden eagle chick when it was fitted with the tag. That's the hope that the sad loss of this bird, and many others, to organised criminal gangs will finally lead to the change that's needed. Scottish government (and governments throughout the UK) - act on the RSPB's call and introduce licencing for grouse shooting now!

This is utterly disgusting and shameful. But aren’t the royal family involved with grouse shooting ? Would the RSPB be prepared to drop the Royal from its name in protest ? Now wouldn’t that be a statement that would make people notice ? Charles, Wills and Harry are all hypocrites when it comes to the conservation of wildlife and I’ve never been comfortable with the royal patronage . I hated prince Phillip being involved with the WWF when him and his mates had spent so much of their lives shooting or hounding things to death. Even the Queen shot a tiger. You have to put our dwindling wildlife first and get the RSPCA to also confront this hypocrisy. But have you got the balls to do it ? I wish you did because RUclips videos are not enough .

Would you also class the RSPB as hypocrites for killing hundreds of birds on it’s reserves every year?

I don't see the rspb blasting Hen Harriers, Golden Eagles, White Tailed Eagles, Goshawks, peregrines, Kites and buzzard on their reserves. The only bird they shoot are those that pose a threat to rare breeding birds on their reserves. So no. They are not hypocrites. They are simply trying to conserve birds in a massively ecologically degraded landscape.

The Queen has shot a tiger!!!! When!!? I can't believe that is true! But I got this gut feeling that it is! Google here I come! 😟

@@wendyrual7179 Yes the Queen is reputed to have killed a tiger. I believe it was back in the 1950's when she and Prince Philip were in India on their tour of the dominions after she ascended the throne in 1953, but don't quote me on that. Indeed, she and Philip were on a big game safari in Africa when the news of her father's death was announced. We know safaris today as a wildlife watching event; back in those days, the game was being actively hunted. The term "The Big 5" is a legacy of those times. The conservation of wildlife has always sat uncomfortably with the Royals because they've all indulged in blood sports to varying extents over the years, some of them still do participate in this barbaric Victorian activity.

@@colindouglas7769 I googled & it showed her & Philip standing with a group with a dead tiger laying on the ground!! I don't think SHE actually shot it, but to pose with a murdered tiger is just as bad!!!
      Thanks for the info 👍

I hate the grouse shooting! A license will never happen!

That lead is heavy coding like lead from the valley of a house. What estate houses have been renovated in the area?
Probably claimed back the VAT, maybe even applied for a grant!

This Golden Eagle killing seems almost accidental, but if this Golden Eagle were shot, surely someone with the right mind would know the difference between a Golden Eagle and a duck! This person should understand why these eagles are important to the ecosystem! But....if he's never caught, he'll just continue with his crimes!

Why are the RSPB handling forensic evidence? And why would someone remove the tag and wrap it in lead...easier ways of disposing of it. Sorry far too many questions and far too many accusations. Why tag them? Seems cruel to me. "No crimes reported" but grouse moor management are geting the blame?

Really, who they trying con into thinking someone would go to all this bother wrapping a tag in a chunk of lead and throwing it into a river, more like planted by them to be "found", any one tampering would of just smashed and binned it !

    • @Freakoutski
      @Freakoutski 4 года назад +3

Yes "Paul Nicholas", it's a well known strategy employed by the more forgetful among us. We like to wrap all of the things we wish to find again in thick lead, and place them at the bottom of bodies of water. It's a sure-fire way to never lose track of precious items. It's crazy that any reasonable person could think someone would do things like this for any other purpose isn't it.
