Please get your cow a friend. Cows have strong social structures and thrive the most with other cows around. Cows also have best friends, so if you don't want them to get lonely, please find them a friend ❤
also cows have strong bonds with and depend on their mothers even in adulthood. When living on a pasture, related cows keep close and learn from another.

we use to have cows when i was growing up.. and babies usually called their mamas like this ,its not and mamas came to comfort them, its not the milk they ask for . we let babies grow up with mothers to full size before they were sold. when they are very small, they are almost attached to their mothers hip. separation is mentally painful to cows, they are not stupid animals as many may think ,they are very sensitive. most of the times cows move in packs and need each others company.
Didn't Ur cattle self wean. Where I grew up on 2 didn't ways of farming we had the small farm just a couple thousand acres with 400 head I think and a station with about 45,000 head on the station when we mustered twice a year we would draft the weaners big enough to go the ones not big enough would get branded tags and cut then bushed with there mother's. On the small farm the mother's would mostly self wean and when they don't seem to be together as long as in stuck to each other's hips then we would wean them and grow then up for market or our own freezer.
Here in New Zealand the baby female calves are taken from their mothers shortly after birth and the male cows (bobby calves) are taken away from their mothers and slaughtered basically right away (not sure how other countries handle bobby calves and I’m not here to judge just share information). Weaning seems so much more humane and justifiable than taking the babies from their mothers at such a young age it breaks my heart

Cows are meant to live outside with lots of room and stimulation they actually love to run and play Edit: if she was weaned off already she wouldn't need more milk, yes she could be weaned before any age but if she was completely weaned she wouldn't need milk Also I do know that the mother could be dead or rejected it but I feel like they might of mentioned that if it did happen Also yes they are hand fed on dairy farms from day one but does this look like a dairy farm to you
The friend is on its way, the milking is almost over also taking them from mum a bit early is better, and as soon as she gets the other cow she’s going to put them a large pen
@@Xx_itzToca_AvaxXa large pen in their subdivision?? Cows belong on land. Getting a pet cow to fulfill your own selfish desire for social media fame is gross.
So update for anyone curious, this “highpark” cow is a cross between a highland and white park cow. The cow will get about 42 inches tall and 900-2,000 pounds. It will need at BARE MINIMUM an acre or 5 plus 2-5 more cows. Along with areas to graze. Not to mention it was taken from its mother way to early and possibly will have health problems because of the untested breeding of the two breeds. Edit: also if they are claiming it’s “micro” it’s still around 35 inches. So up to the hip on me (5’6)
I freakin LOVE that you put the time into doing the research! I'm really hoping this "micro" cow trend doesn't end up like the teacup pigs or wolfdogs, where they end up not being cool anymore or hard to deal with so they get tossed to a sanctuary. They had a year to prepare and still didn't have the acreage or 2-5 cows for a small herd like you mentioned...
"micro mini highland cow" has the same legitimacy issues as "teacup potbelly pig" It will get big, and theyll have to get rid of it. I absolutely hate people who buy animals for clout at the expense of the animal's wellbeing. You can tell theyre doing it for shock factor.
@@daylaholleman9584 what’s not “necessary” is selling it to someone for a pet before it’s weaned off of its mother. Having to bottle feed a calf is for emergencies and when there is not other option, not when someone simply wants to because they want their “pet” faster
Either that or on a farm where hopefully another mama cow will adopt her. This isn’t even a good foster situation. What happens when you have to go to work or school? Or when you go out for other reasons? This pathetic baby needs a farm setting, and not two 20-somethings cosplaying mama cows. Please surrender the cow to someone who runs a farm and can actually take care of this poor creature. You aren’t cow parents. And the stuffed animal is no substitute for a cow herd.
@@southernlady5085 I don't think they would ever be approved to foster a cow, or even adopt one. They only got one because they paid for her, and I seriously question the morality of the breeder. They say they're going to build a barn which is great but the barn should have been ready BEFORE the cow arrived, and since they didn't have any cows already they should have gotten at least two cows at the same time.
Mini cows get separated from their mom at a few weeks old and whoever buys them will still feed them milk this is normal for a mini cow to be separated from their mom at this age
The only way to get a "bottle baby" is if the mom died, the baby was rejected, or it was intentionally separated from the mother to become a novelty pet. Cows should only be bottle fed as a last resort.
Hope she doesn’t get hoof problems. Also she might need a friend, cows are super social animals. They even have best friends or favorite cows they like to hangout with. while mini cows are a thing, they will still be very big, much bigger than people assume. I raise mini breeds and still, they can easily throw a fully grown man. They have no idea what they are getting into and are just straight up abusing the animal.
@@SnapdragonangelHonestly. So many people are like “oh,normal cows are so stinky, ugly, and big,so I’M going to get a mini cow because they get the size of dogs!” And I told them that the name doesn’t fully represent its individual size, and the ones I’ve raised have gotten half the size of normal cows. That’s when they say “gross” and walk away,or otherwise they call me a liar No,mini cows are not in any way a dog for cuteness. Cows, goats and even sometimes pigs are taken immediately from their mothers so they bond to humans and are friendly. She's not calling for her mother, she's not known another mother besides a bottle and human hands. Agree or disagree, it's how it is if you want friendly farm animals. @@HellenaHanbasquet Emotions are not strictly a human thing. Cows absolutely do have emotions, maybe not in the same capacity we do, but they absolutely do. It’s kinda weird actually, to see emotions in other creatures. They even get depressed like we can or can have other things like that happen.
They're getting her a friend dw they're getting a boy this time tho he's extremely sweet and loves to smile (I watched this video after they've been bonding with him and might be ready to take him home soon 😆)
Some farmer person was saying that most babies get taken away from the mom almost immediately, and are taught to allow humans to help them grow and to handle them. But I also live around farms and have seen many calves with their mothers. Maybe the calves i saw were males and the females are the ones that get sent away.
Important context for people watching this video and being concerned. I was concerned at first too, not knowing the context. This is not the cow's permenant home. They are taking care of her temporarily before she is moved into a barn. She will also have companionship as there will be other cows. She is not treating this cow as a toy/pet. I know it looks like that at first glance, but it's purely a misunderstanding. With that in mind, be gentle with your comments and take angry ones as a misunderstanding from genuinely concerned people ❤️

I hope this cow gets a friend, cows are herd animals and need at least one other cow. I’m also hoping the pen is temporary (I believe you said that in the video) because cows need area to run. Please remember cows are livestock and much harder and different to take care of than dogs, it’s best to research needs for the specific breed of cow, but I’m very happy for you Edit: I also noticed the bottle feeding, and I believe that means the cow wasn’t ready to be weaned and still needs its mother’s milk. I may be wrong, as I’m more familiar with horses than cows, but if the cow needs to be bottle fed it was weaned too early, rejected by the mother, or somehow separated from its mother
I understand your point and I also know more about horses then cows but it is not to early for the cow to be weaned from its mother gene if it stills needs the bottle, there is a reason for how you get bottle decider trays for calves

we use to have cows when i was growing up.. and babies usually called their mamas like this ,its not and mamas came to comfort them, its not the milk they ask for . we let babies grow up with mothers to full size before they were sold. when they are very small, they are almost attached to their mothers hip. separation is mentally painful to cows, they are not stupid animals as many may think ,they are very sensitive. most of the times cows move in packs and need each others company.

"micro mini highland cow" has the same legitimacy issues as "teacup potbelly pig"

@@snakesonaframe2668 no there isn’t. Dexters and Jerseys are on the smaller size, Highlands, which is what my family owned, have shorter legs but are still huge. This cow in the video is marketed as a “micro mini” highland mix breed. Trying to make a highland cow mini, which is poor breeding, diet, and ethics. Name one offical mini cow breed?
I’m hopeful that this doesn’t turn into a type of thing where as soon as she’s not a baby anymore or grows to get bigger ( because even teacup cows are quite large) that they get rid of her. I also hope she has much more space and other animals to interact with. Cows are a big responsibility and require a lot of care

You know how people have dogs right? They are taken from their mothers after being able to be away from them. You also know how puppies bark right? They aren’t always asking for their mom either just like this cow.
Also mooing for their mom and mooing for milk are the same thing bc the milk is in the momma cow
SHE'S CALLING FOR A BOTTLE OR BECAUSE JUST GOT MOVE TO A PLACE WITH NO ANOTHER COWS AND ALSO ANIMALS JUST TALK, LIKE THEY JUST LIKE TO TALK NOT JUST BECAUSE THEY NEED SOMETHING OR ARE IN PAIN
@@pixelzebra8440 your not helping by spamming the same shit in the replies your mother doesn’t just bring milk it’s brings love affection and protection.
@@pixelzebra8440dogs have been domesticated to live with us humans. Plus they dont have the herd mentality that cows have. Cows naturally would stay in their herd and be close with their mothers for years. Cows can have friends, best friends too.
Dogs however, while they can have friends, don't overly care for their mothers. My parents breed dogs and we have kept mother and children before and there is rarely actually any love there, they just exist together. Although one of our mother and daughter are close and sit together alot. But even then she has another daughter who she doesnt care for at all. Dogs for countless generations have been separated from their mothers once weined and it has become normal to them. Their brains are wired to create bonds with humans.
Cows are not domesticated in this same way in the slightest. They don't crave human interaction. They need to be with their own kind and have the support of their mothers for many years as they would live in the same herd. Think of elephants, for example, who are known for having complex bonds similar to that of cows. The mothers support their children into adulthood, just like cows would. But our barbaric farming methods dont allow the calves to live long enough to be part of a natural herd dynamic.
Comparing cows to dogs is bullshit. They are completely different in many ways. And spamming the same message everywhere won't change anyones mind.

Just buy a bloody farm and raise cows.

Her mom could have rejected her. Not all mothers except their young. Happens in horses, goats, cows and plenty of other animals.

She said that they've " been dreaming of this day for over a year" that's plenty of time to do at least basic preperations, and to not do that is just careless, plain and simple. Plus, cattle need at least 2 herdmates, they do better with more, but 3 is the minimum. As well as feeding a calve from a bottle at least when it happens regularly will cause the calve to have behavioral problems when it grows up. Im not sqying she's the worst cattle owner, I've seen worse, what I am saying though is that she certainly isnt a good one.
