    The Walabot DIY 2 is the most advanced stud finder there is. Where other stud finders can typically only detect studs, the Walabot DIY 2 is capable of detecting much more, making it a much more useful tool in your toolbox.

    JUST received my Walabot DIY 2. It connected to my iPhone quickly (~ 7-8 seconds) and calibration took about 10 seconds. I’m believe other reviewers that struggle in various situations don’t take time to calibrate completely. If you’re asking a tech device that requires calibration, prob not best to expect much accuracy if you’re not doing the calibration well. I highly recommend this wall stud finder. It found wooden studs and an electrical wire , that I wasn’t expecting, quickly & clearly. Just get it. Just one incorrect drilling cannot only destroy your results, but KILL YOU if you hit the wrong electrical source. Now you REALLY have to spend money!
    Lastly some people complain about the Walabot “marking or scraping” paint off interior walls. I agree the 2 strips of hard “plastic” would scratch surfaces, depending how hard you press into the wall. Walabot requires only slight pressure and to make things move more smoothly & less “damaging” for some users I applied 1 strips of 3M invisible tape with a little foldover tab for easy removal/replacement. It makes a big difference in scanning as well as protecting the device & walls.

      Where a traditional stud finder can only locate live hopes and dreams, the Walabot is capable of even locating hopes and dreams that are dead. *disclaimer - this may or may not be true.

    I run alot of wires through drywall and use glow/fishing rods, would it detect the movement in expert mode and detect the glow rod in general. If yes that could be a game changer!

    Will this locate studs through fiberglass or hollow walls? Having an issue with this apartment complex where they installed hollow fiberglass shower walls for some reason. And of course the backer boards are not up to code. Thanks

    I happen to be a lifelong photographer, to make viewing easier on my iPhone I used a tripod attachment for my phone and raised it up for much easier viewing. Has anyone else found some hacks for view phone while using the Walabot? Guess could put double stick tape or adhesive Velcro on a cheap iPhone case? Thoughts?

    • @MadElectrician
      @MadElectrician  7 месяцев назад

      It actually work perfectly fine with insulation, I think most people who review it on RUclips like me just build a demo wall and don’t think about putting insulation in it. I’ll probably make another video at a future point answering questions I’ve gotten about it. Based on comments on my other social media accounts, a lot of people seem to think that it isn’t even real which I find pretty funny.

      @@howardhoman8233if it emitted X-ray radiation, it would absolutely affect the user via “scatter” radiation. This definitely does not use X-ray radiation (that’s what CT or “CAT” scans use. MRI (no ionizing radiation) is magnetic resonance imaging and you need a giant unit that costs millions of dollars to use it. It’s impossible for this tiny handheld unit to use either of those technologies. What makes much more sense is some sort of sound wave tech.

      That’s so they can force obsolescence when they update the app, your hardware will no longer be compatible and you will be forced to shell out another 200 dollars for new hardware.

    • @buster1063
      @buster1063 6 месяцев назад

      @@bige6487 Good screens are cheap. You can buy a quality screen for under 40 dollars these days.
      With an app based design you are dependent on them maintaining compatibility in the app, and keeping the app on the App Store.
      Eventually the app will drop compatibility, eventually the app will be removed, and eventually smartphone OS will no longer support the app if the app isn’t updated in a reasonable time. which means your device will have forced obsolescence. You just don’t know when.
      A self contained unit with its own screen and battery that’s about 50-100 dollars more and doesn’t require an app, can be kept and used for 20+ years. Without being force to upgrade.
      Sure smartphones are versatile, and any monkey with half a brain can write an app these days.
      But it destroys reliability and sustainability with hardware.
      In construction, you buy your tools and keep them for years. You don’t want to be buying the “next new techy replacement” every 1-2 years.
