    Thanks for the video. It answered some of my questions. I’ve got a couple of light blue sky blue guitars. I was thinking of putting this pattern on one of them. Should I put down a layer of black underneath before I put this pattern on it? I like the black background. I’m all new to doing this stuff but I really like it.

    • @dgattbass
      @dgattbass  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's up to you whether you decide to paint first or not - there are no rules in creativity!
      If you keep the guitar sky blue you'll see sections of that blue underneath the black/beam which might looks pretty cool. If you paint it black first you're going to get a lot less contrast on colour.
      I always recommend testing with some scrap pieces first. Usually I just buy cheap junk guitars from Facebook Marketplace for $20-30 that parents sell because their kids stopped playing after 6 months but yeah - definitely be creative and see what you can come up with!

      @@dgattbass THANK YOU!! Naw, man. I try to take the advice of the professional where I get the product. So you're the boss. I watched the video again and saw the size of the item, so I'm going to need to order more product if I want to do the whole body. I wish I could do the back of the neck, but it doesn't look like the foil has that satin feel. I bet it's not advisable to do the back of the neck?

    • @dgattbass
      @dgattbass  10 месяцев назад +1

      Personally I wouldn't do the back of a neck for the pure reason that you're never going to really see it to begin with. You could potentially do it then clear coat it but it'll come down to personal preference. I prefer satin/unfinished necks to feel so not something I would personally do!@@wasteddude9387

    Would a heat gun have been easier?

    • @dgattbass
      @dgattbass  Месяц назад

      Heat gun wont work as you need to hold down to make contact long enough for the flash to bind to the painted surface. Heat guns also get WAY too hot and will simply melt the plastic backing ruining the transfer.

    So I was watching this and talking to my husband after we used this product. What if you had a hot dish of casting sand out of and oven same temp as the iron and us the sand to more evenly press the guitar body into the film. Im just out of money to try this expirement. But it would be fun to see in one of your videos🎉

    • @dgattbass

  • @ivanellis7091

    u reckon it can be done on a matt finish?

    • @dgattbass
      @dgattbass  2 месяца назад

      Potentially it can but will be difficult to adhere. The reason being is how thin the actual material is, the matte finish may be too raised to apply.

  • @deannaramos2714
    @deannaramos2714 8 месяцев назад

    Loosly tape the film to tje opsite side so when you flip the body the film hangs loosly underneath as you press it evenly into the had sand.

    • @dgattbass
      @dgattbass  Год назад +3

      No. You need the pressure from the iron to stick it on.

      Thanks for the tutorial my friend! I will be trying this. I will try to clear coat as well. I think if you dust on the clear coat 5 or 6 coats let it set up then come back with a medium wet coat it will work. Thanks again looks amazing 😮

      I recommend waiting for an answer. Only because I could swear I read somewhere that a certain kind of coating would eat up the foil and destroy the holographic images. Just a recommendation.

      If the surface is "perfectly" smooth with zero imperfections and enough time is taken or a heat press big enough then yes it is possible.

    Can this be clearcoated???

    • @dgattbass
      @dgattbass  3 месяца назад

      Hey I haven't done so myself but have been told of success with poly clear coats out of a compressor (ie, no solvents).
      Solvents in something like SprayMax 2k will melt the finish into this grey slop that doesn't set.
      Water based poly allows more flash but is also softer to finish.
