Heavy damage is not the way to go.
This reminds me.. I was watching a top split Nations Cup race (Suzuka), when 2nd place went into the back of 1st place at the Casio Triangle. It was a light bump, but it was enough to give 1st place rear damage, while 2nd place got away with no damage. Just from that bit of damage, the race was over for 1st place, as his car now performed much worse and dropped down multiple places.

Instead of Sophie AI, they should ve developed Stewarts AI in order to give penalties correctly

Imo yes its a good feature that they enabled heavy damage, it punish people from divebombing from last year. BUT in top tier lobby where most of everybody race cleanly it still has a risk for example in this video, where 2 PEOPLE joined and their internet just ruined the whole lobby. I guess when someone has problem with their connection they should let by everyone SAFELY and come to the pits and stop.

It is the answer for daily races
Unfortunately sardengne didn’t offer many opportunities for race practice for everyone. In the top split, getting 3 chances to put in a good race meant a lot of people were just jumping in without much practice. In my lobby6 drivers left the lobby after lap 1, as some of the divebombs early on ruined the races including mine. I left a few laps later after getting my momentum back when a driver who had obviously taken on a lot of damage, decided to just collect me as a casualty for heavy damage as he swerved in front of me and brake tested me on the straight.
In my opinion, it might be abit serious, but GT1 should include mandatory free practice session. Sounds dumb for a game like GT7 as it’s abit serious but too many drivers just jumped into the race, without knowing the track, without knowing the GR2 cars and ultimately that was the biggest issue in my three races.
Just drivers missing braking points, braking too early, attempting overtakes in corners where two wide is near impossible.
If there is only 3 slots for GT1, and there is heavy damage. That’s fantastic as it creates higher stakes, unfortunately I think it requires some sort of competency standard before entering it. I had done 200-300 laps on it in free practice on both tires, taking different lines and varying between fast laps and slower consistent race laps even though tire wear didn’t exist in FP. I did that because I was unfamiliar with the car / track combo and didn’t want to ruin anyone else’s race
Yet in all 3 of my races I took damage from 3 extremely avoidable mistakes from other drivers (divebomb turn 1, divebomb into fast left hander before final turn onto the back straight and lastly a brake check on the straight)
All 3 of the races were essentially ruined from each incident but still placed decently because everyone suffered the same except the leader.
Overall, heavy damage works, the issue is the drivers and poor race craft.. they can just ruin somebodies race and leave the lobby, then do it again in the next two races without really caring too much about the drivers they are hitting..

I can see your point, Mihael, particularly in higher-rating lobbies where most drive cleanly.
However, in lower lobbies its insane. I'd gladly accept having my race ruined by HD as a tradeoff for cleaner races overall. After all, most of my races seem to have incredibly dirty driving.
Its very different for those in higher level lobbies.

I watched this live on Wind's stream, can't believe how tight the qualifying times were for the top ten! What a lobby, you did well to even get P8.

I did the nations cup round 3 twice. First time 3 people collided into a corner and I caught dirty air. 14th place. The second race I only fell behind in 5th after a pitstop but again the dude in front screwed up and I went into the wall with him. I pitted to repair the car but could only finish 11th. Learning experience I guess.

We need heavy damage AND a better penalty system. The guy who caused the inchident needs a heavier punishment, it cant be the same as who got caught in it, which is what happens now with just damage. But I think this will happen only on GT8 on a fully PS5 game, or even PS6

Couldn't agree more. Every single GROUP 2 car is better than this thing except in a straight line.

Hi, you made a nice and good race, Congratulations! I drive in a league every Sunday and we play only with heavy damage! The races are so nice, you have to be patience, carefully and fast! It makes so much fun, everybody give you space and needed him, but I think in Daylis or Cup races it is not be a great idea, in every race is one Moron and he, she don't care, you got a problem!! Have a nice day!

Heavy damage indeed isn’t the answer. The logic behind it is fair.. to encourage cleaner lateral racing but in gt1 where it’s so competitive and heated racing has not got cleaner. All slots I tried I got severe damage which destroyed my races.. my internet didn’t help 😂 because of the games pinball physics the heavy damage can innocently destroy many ppl’s races and this is what happened the other day. I hope by official season this experiment is done 😅

I think you RUclipsrs should work together to put pressure on Polyphony to make the C race longer or add a D race or delete A race or whatever...😂

Damage in this game is absolute garbage. I wish it had a damage system similar to Grid. I find it dramatic and not realistic
