They were rivals in history but now they are friends and partners. Efren teamed up with Earl in 2018 in his farewell tour and the doube E defeated a lot of European teams. Earl really learnt how to treat people nicely and Efren forgave him.
There are times when Earl winds a championship match vs Efren but he never cries like this. sometimes he boast loud. but when he loses he gets so unprofessional.
In Efren's first ever professional straight pool [he said straight pool, not 8 ball] Efren ran over 100 in pretty much ever match, and looked like a long time pro, despite have never played it competitively before, and having only had the duration of the tournament to learn the patterns. If anything, he is a BETTER straight pool player than he is a 9 ball player.
Yeah, I dunno wtf Siegel was thinking when he made that comment. Efren is an amazing straight pool player, he dominated everyone in his first professional straight pool comp and although I didnt see them all, I remember watching one of the matches of the tourney where the commentators were saying how you could literally see the progressions he made day by day as he got accustomed to the game. And in that match (its on youtube somewhere) he played amazing.
Now Earl always respect Efren since their earlier matches. Either you see Earl clapping or thumping his cue on the floor every time Efren wins a rack. And Mike Segal still has this huge ego that comes with the game even after Efren took his crown as the King Of The Hill.
Sigel is such a good commentator. He takes the view through very well in a way to make newcomers to the sport enthusiastic and in an instructional way for players.
I gotta give credit where credit is due, back about 6 months from the time of this match, Efren just owned Mike Sigel in the King of the Hill final.... and what I really appreciate about Mike is the way he talked about Efren here. There was ZERO sour grapes about HIS lost and only admiration and respect from Mike. I know he's known as "the mouth" but even while he does talk a lot during his play, he always remains respectful of his opponent. Something Earl could've learned a little while playing. I still love Earl.... Earl is Earl and he's his own worst enemy at times but there's no denying his brilliance at 9 ball. As for Mike, I hope people realized when he got whooped by Reyes in 2005 .... he'd been retired for over 10 years.... and clearly not in his Prime stroke. But I appreciate his attitude and to me, that's what makes a real Legend of the sport.👏👏👏
