There is no doubting Strickland's brilliance with a pool cue, but he is a disgrace to the game the way he acts. Efren is the best not only with his playing ability but with his humbleness and sportsmanship.

In Efren's first ever professional straight pool [he said straight pool, not 8 ball] Efren ran over 100 in pretty much ever match, and looked like a long time pro, despite have never played it competitively before, and having only had the duration of the tournament to learn the patterns. If anything, he is a BETTER straight pool player than he is a 9 ball player.

I gotta give credit where credit is due, back about 6 months from the time of this match, Efren just owned Mike Sigel in the King of the Hill final.... and what I really appreciate about Mike is the way he talked about Efren here.
There was ZERO sour grapes about HIS lost and only admiration and respect from Mike. I know he's known as "the mouth" but even while he does talk a lot during his play, he always remains respectful of his opponent.
Something Earl could've learned a little while playing.
I still love Earl.... Earl is Earl and he's his own worst enemy at times but there's no denying his brilliance at 9 ball.
As for Mike, I hope people realized when he got whooped by Reyes in 2005 .... he'd been retired for over 10 years.... and clearly not in his Prime stroke.
But I appreciate his attitude and to me, that's what makes a real Legend of the sport.👏👏👏

The best line I've ever heard about luck in sports and I think it was from Arnold Palmer!!?? "The more I practice, the luckier I get"!!!

I’ve stopped being surprised when announcers say “Ef-rum”. Now it’s just pure aggravation.

Good players get the good breaks. They not only know how to make shots, they know how to miss shots. When they do miss, their opponent may not have a good shot. Efren may get lucky but, if so, he sure gets lucky alot. To me, he is the very best.

Reyes doesn't play for money or trophy, he is just happy to play, not attached to any outcome, never seen him loosing his cool like Strickland

@SHOTTONLEGEND The english first put a leather tip on the cue and so, were able to spin the cue ball, thus it became known as english. I read that either in the official billiards rule book or a magazine article in Billiards Digest. I also read that in England they don't call it "english" they call it "side" or "spin." Looking back even further in pool history, players used the fat end of the stick as the front but used the skinny tail end (called the"Que") on rail shots.

The thing is that people only learned about Efren because of television, and they based their comparison on who's the better pool player in which discipline on that, but what they didn't know was him being disqualified in major pool disciplines in the US just because he's too good and these feats weren't televised at all during those times.
