Picked up a pair for doing the brakes on my kids bike. But I also appreciate the link to the swaging video because I have several gates around my property that I want to swage and not clamp.

I have a set of Crescent Wire Rope Cutters. Just couldn't pass the 80% discount at the local hardware store. That's not a tool that I'm using that often so I'm fine with this one.
I love so much the Wrench Pliers that I'll be getting more Knipex tools. Keep up your excellent work!

    Great video.
I almost bought a pair of Knipex CoBolt cutters assuming it would do well on wire rope too.
    You saved me the trouble.
Question is, will the Wire rope cutter cut through solid wire mesh fencing?

Thanks for the video! Looking for excuse to get those for myself. Curious what ways wire ropes may be used, may there be a chance I could use them anyhow.

Good points. I hadn't thought much about how the blade shape affects the cut in that way. I have the Klein needle nose strippers (yellow handle) with the crimpers like the hybrid and I use them regularly for working on speaker installations and butt splicing. They are pretty good. If they stripped the outer jacket better they would be great.

The theme of this one is “use the right tool for the right job”. As a side note, you seem like a really good teacher. I know I’m not alone saying that your videos help teach. In pretty much each one, I pick up a little something. As far as the “idiot” who jacked up your Milwaukee cutters, my experience is that 75-80% of the time, it’s just people not knowing better. The other is people being lazy, in a rush or just not giving a damn. I’ve messed a a couple of tools over the years but not many at all. Corrosion during storage has been my biggest enemy in unnecessarily loosing tools. Rust prevention for storage may be an interesting video to make. That happens to so many of us. Thanks for making your videos. Hope you have a good weekend, sir.

I cut actual chain did link by link as emergency for my brothers dog's collar got too tight and it was hard but it worked. Ruined them though. Couldn't cut steel wire cables anymore cleam. Bought new ones.

a borrowed saw cuts through anything
people think you're strange if you buy tools.....but they have no problem borrowing or stealing them

my conclusion the wire cutter flush cutting mini bolt cutter crushes heavily the wire the diagonal cutter can do it but a lot of pressure require the lineman too much pressure to do the job

It’s been so long since I did this video. I think I used both steel and stainless wire rope. I’ll try to double check when I get back to Texas.

This product is not good. The cutting power is great, but the locking mechanism comes loose quickly. This is very annoying as you have to periodically tighten the lock. In severe cases, it may fall out.

you can cut a stranded cable even with a
Surge if first you put duct tape around the wire.
ofc, with some limitations. im thinking about the cable used in bicycle shifters, so 1.2mm thickness.
