  • These Knipex Wire Rope cutters are just fantastic, there’s nothing like having a purpose built tool to give you the best results on a particular job. These circle and compression cut the wire rope to prevent any fraying or crushing of the wire which really helps when needing to thread it through tight spots or the various buckles and pulleys that this type of rope is used for regularly. Garage door repairs are a lot easier with this tool as well if you do that type of work. Definitely a handy tool to add if you do a lot of work involving this material!

I highly recommend these as well. This type of cutter is essential for the intermediate tool kit. I got the 95 61 190 for the slim grips. Great for bike mechanics too.

Very true! I didn’t even think about bikes.

I use it for cutting hydraulic lines and teflon cable liners too. It's worth every penny.

Thanks for putting this video together and demoing the clippers
The perfect clean tip is exactly what I'm looking for.
I know its a broad question but from your experience how long do these Clippers last. I will most likely use them 25 times a yearish?

Definitely a better design than bolt cutters or shears.

Ive been tempted several times order a pair of those for braided break and throttle cables. But I don’t deal with that small of cables much anymore. Most of the cables I deal with now are 3/16” and 1/4” stainless pvc coated braided cables for safety tethers on theatrical lighting and truss mounted equipment. I haven’t looked to see if the make a large set of cable cutters that would handle stainless.

Could you test and let me know how cleanly these will cut bamboo bbq skewers? 3mm,4mm,5mm sizes...
Looking to cut many of these, and i've got blisters from rolling them around a stanley knife blade.

Use wire rope to hang spiral duct at work. Parts guy is not buying the knipex since my cheap Amazon cutters worked really well for quite a while considering the price difference.
Not hatin on the knipex, I do have the pliers wrench.

If you don't cut a lot of rope wires, would a bolt cutter works with plasti dip? Or what other tools would you recommend that is more basic tool for an low skill average home owners? I am looking into cutting some stainless steel 3/16" Wire Rope (for a garden sail) and I doubt I will cut anything after this 50' cables are used up.

Cost a fortune for these pliers. If you don't cut these many rope wires, a dremel or angle grinder does it well too
