Actually, this sound was being used by Microsoft for a very a long time tho, it started on the Xbox 360 as the default notification sound for the updated version of the Dash launcher (the one looking like Windows 8), and then *LATER* added to Minecraft as its notification sound tho, after Microsoft bought Mojang and added stuff like Marketplace and all of the rest.
