I'm gonna be honest... I don't think that's a real needle mover here strategically lol. according to the "Statistical Overview of the Canadian Maple Industry" of 2023, the United States produces 29% of global maple syrup sales anyway, the second biggest producer, only behind Canada.
Another important note, from 2022, they make $688,724,000 in revenue, in 2023, it went down to $425,194,000, a huge downtrend. The total addressable market share doesn't seem to be a needle mover for those reasons, and also, since we're the second biggest producers already (Almost 30%). But maybe trump will be more farmer-friendly than Canada and allow us to generate even more money. We have so many ways to make money from Canada
, and strategic reasons for why we should if we could, maple syrup is just one of the many reasons.

essentially but have to look at it more broader. Idea is protect US economy. You'll pay more for non US products making USA made products more competitive, In churn this creates more USA jobs and wages, that will get spent on other USA companies. The middle class got wiped out when USA started outsourcing everything. So goal of tariffs is for Americans to buy from Americans. Now yes this can hurt some industries, that have more supply than America needs and needs to be exported.

On top of that, U.S. exports more goods to Canada than anywhere else in the world. So Canada will also fight back with a Don't Buy American campaign.

Canada receives far more guns and drugs from the US than the other way around. The argument that Canadas border is a security risk to the US is nothing compared to what Canada has to tolerate coming from the US. There are citizens who get a say, who have lives organised around being a citizen of Denmark with financial, cultural and family ties. Even if 51% of people were happy to become part of the US. Is it really fair for the other 49% to accept becoming a citizen of a whole different nation with different laws, traditions and norms? I would say no. And you can't put a price on that. This isn't an empty territory.

Tariff on M and C goods is not about “paying less or more for American goods” ( I think that’s what I heard in the video) but rather about how much US government charge the US importer whom buys from M and C. The higher the tariffs the less US buy from M and C and the less volume M and C sell (thus less money to make). It is to reduce the demand for m and c goods

The anchoring concept makes sense considering we can’t really afford even one of those proposed purchases, much less all three. Nor does it seem likely any of them would ever entertain the notion even if offered well over estimated value. Greenland and the canal are too great an asset to the current owners for the same reasons the US would want them, and despite recent disapproval of Canadian governing, Canada has a strong identity and few would ever consider US rule and identity of any capacity.
I think we got a fair return on investment in Panama. It was rightfully returned and has made them one of the wealthiest nations in central/south America. They would collapse without it. No single purchase amount could fund enough industry there to compensate. Due to how the canal operates I think it’s equally important that Panama retains control, as they should decide how and when to allocate their freshwater reserves between residents and canal operation.
I like the idea of the US generating income in ways other than income tax, but it’s a delicate dance avoiding consumers and businesses footing the bill in the end anyway. Not to mention how economical impact on southern nations tends to increase immigration pressure, costing the US more again. America can come first and still seek more mutually beneficial solutions than we tend to.

But let's say Russia was to take over Greenland for its new shipping route through the arctic . Who's Denmark going to call, and at what cost to human life. Denmark would turn to the USA quicker than you could say NATO. Then watch what happens.

    💼 Tariffs and Their Impact
Tariffs are often discussed without addressing a key point:
A higher tax on a product, good, or service doesn't guarantee people, businesses, or governments will buy it.
    👖 Consumer Behavior Example
If you’re shopping for jeans in America and find the local ones to be:
    Poor quality 👎
    Unattractive 😕
    Lacking durability 🧵
You might opt for a pair from China, which could offer:
    Better materials ✅
    Longer-lasting wear ⏳
    Superior style ✨
Even with a 10%, 15%, or 25% tariff, people may still pay more for quality.
🌍 The Reality of Market Choices
Just because something is made in America doesn't guarantee buyers will choose it.
Governments, corporations, and wealthy individuals are likely to prioritize quality over patriotism.
    💸 Economic Divide
Wealthy individuals and corporations may afford higher-quality imports.
Lower-income individuals may have no choice but to settle for cheaper, lower-quality goods.
    🤔 Key Questions
Will the U.S. produce high-quality goods and services?
Can businesses afford the exceptional talent required to achieve that quality?
    🔄 The Economic Cycle
The balance between quality, cost, and demand is an ongoing challenge in the economy.
    ✌🏿

@@ZAR-2225the United States could have easily conquered all of Mexico after the Mexican American and Spanish American wars. In the earlier war democratic president James K Polk who is responsible for creating the mainlands US’ modern borders claimed he could easily take Mexico but the land was full of too many Indians and mestizos. Along with what was considered relatively poor farm land in comparison to the Mississippi River valley.
