Writing from Australia, Visited Spokan area 6years ago to see the beautiful farming country there and actually see a Hillside combine. The Rabobank manager showed us around the area, great day out .
One day before i die i want to travel to the PNW hill country/palouse region to see the harvest in action. One of the few travels on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
I find that area of Idaho very interesting the views are great .There was a guy several years ago who posted pictures from the Cavendish area on The New Agtalk web site went by NIF which was for Northern Idaho Farmer . Run a lot of Cats .He hasn;t posted for a long time. Your yields are amazing for wheat I am told when the weather is right. Keep posting videos there very interesting.
I’m surprised to see this old a machine still in action, must be hard to find parts by now. It’s hard to give up on a good machine. I worked summers on a farm at Wasco Oregon during the 1960s driving a 1942 TD 14A pulling a 1930s combine they did a hell of a good job and handled the steep side hills real well. The owner of the farm took real good care of that machine and parts were getting hard to find. The machine was finally permanently retired in the 1980s
I used to run a TD-14 on my cousins farm in the 80's. I know a couple still in use, and the 1470 still seems new to me, being an axial flow machine. It is new compared to a lot of 55's, 95's, 453's, and 6602's that are still at it. Considering that a combine is only used for a quarter of the year (maybe), I would expect one to last decades as these old machines demonstrate every year. You can still get new parts for a 95!
Was it RA Hansen of Spokane that developed the Hillside combine harvester? I live in New Zealand 🇳🇿 in the 80’s worked for Hansen building a big alluvial gold dredge and seem to remember Richard Hansen saying that his Dad developed a hillside combine?
