    I am amazed that the combines don't roll over on that terrain. You need nerves of steel.

    You boys have got my respect...I just wouldn't have the balls to crawl out on those hills. I've run some steep one but not like those hills.

    I get complaints from head mounted cameras... A camera with good stabilization and wide angle helps a lot, but some still get motion sickness no matter what. I do prefer head mounts so i can see exactly whats going on.
    sometimes ill run dual cameras - one statiomary mount, one on my head, and overlay them both together during editing. More of a hassle but everyone is happy 😂

      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад +3

      Yeah. I got used to it. It sorta reminded Me of gaming so i didnt mind. Yeah the wider the better for sure

    So do the diamond tires do better ? I know technically they put more contact on the ground but looks like they would have more slide potential. ...

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад

      I swear they slide worse. Im the only one withem and my machine loves sliding around

    • @farmingnodak
      @farmingnodak Год назад +3

      Maybe the sidewalls hold up more than lugged tires because of better, even ground contact? Even then at that weight, gravity, and unknown environment factors it's sketchy either way 😅

  • @christianhollauer881
    @christianhollauer881 6 месяцев назад +1

    maybe it is more sliding because of the untypical profile on the front tires (no V-profile)

    Your videos are great... no complaints here... do any farmers out that way run the original Gleaner combines? Their wheel base is different, wonder how well they would handle on these hills.

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад

      I saw one running last year all by himself. A small farmer. Long time ago they were more popular. Theyre more rare now

  • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
    @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin Год назад +2

    Keep the tires tight to the ground buddy! I went to diesel school with a couple guys from The Dalles, back then it was all crawlers and leaning combines. They said their community would lose at least 1 person each year to rollover.. they were cousins, one day they came in a few minutes late, looking pretty down. They had lost one of their uncles the night before.. D6 pulling a sprayer.. not much left of anything 😢

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад +1

      Yeah its steep there i hear and ive been thru that area. Its softer here so maybe the real steep stuff we dont farm like they do? Weve all rolled a track off a tractor a time or teo

    I've noticed you run more of a turf tire rather than an Ag tire??? do they give better side hill traction over the ag tire because of more in line ribbing where as an ag tire with its angled bars are more for gripping in the line of travel ???

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад +1

      Back tires of one are aggressive ag tires. Im not sure. I think paddle tires would do well

  • @John-nc4bl
    @John-nc4bl Год назад +4

    Trevor, if you do get into a dangerous slide, can you drop the header tight against the ground to stop the slide-?

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад

      Usually with the header down i get the least traction. The hopes is that the slide stops. With this soft ground you tend to sink. My vector did a 150 foot slide this spring but it was hard and muddy and scary. Mountain ground though. This is dusty ashy stuff and piles up

    Where are you cutting wheat at. Wheat ground here is flat in Oklahoma.

  • @JohnSmith-vo9zc
    @JohnSmith-vo9zc Год назад +1

    on a sailboat we would call that "heeling", so what degree of heeling are you at in the combines on those side hills ?

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад

      They “heel” or crabwalk or whatever pretty significantly. Maybe 10-15 degrees when its bad

  • @jameskelley8839
    @jameskelley8839 Год назад +1

    I imagine you need all the horses you can get in these situations...stalling out could be fatal...you must dump often as you don't need tons of wheat up top.

    I doubt the camera does them hills any justice. Ive watched your other videos when you get out. Thats some steeeeeeep stuff for me and im from the ozarks. We just graze hills like that. Hey question. Yall always say its soft, is it like sandy type soft??? How does it not wash out terrible from rain? I get yall dont get that much but
    ...

    • @TrevorStruthers
      @TrevorStruthers  Год назад

      Yeah we dont get much rain. Its a sandy and ashy type soil. Super light in places and blows real easy. Yeah and it runs off down the hill and makes big ol ditches when it rains. Thanks for the comment!
