These are all accomplished singers in their own right, and of course this is an entirely objective listing. But if I were to try ranking them by actual talent, I think I'd be able to come up with a Top Ten list quite easily, and leave the rest in the dust. I won't bore you with who my Top Ten would be, but let's just say that Linda Ronstadt would be fighting for top spot with Aretha and Ella.
@@DavidAnderson-m5c I’ve only got one height video where talent has been included in a ranking. I know nothing about guitarists so I used a 100 best guitarists list I found on rolling stone mag so I didn’t miss any big names. Let’s just say that video is by far my most disliked and has caused me tons of grief even though the actual ranking is nothing to do with me. Ranking famous people by their talent is a dangerous game 🤣
@@DataWatch. Very true. Yours are rankings based on objective information, which are hard to argue against (unless you somehow get the height wrong for someone). But it seems you do your homework very carefully, which is more than I can say for a lot of so-called content creators. Subjective lists can often do quite well with viewers, provided the criteria are developed and applied carefully. What some content creators have done (wisely, I think) is to title their videos something like "Ten of the Best..." rather than "Top Ten". This adjustment gives the creator a lot of wiggle room, because he can then make "Ten MORE of the Best...", based on viewer feedback. One guy did this with sci-fi movies of the Fifties and it worked out quite well for him. However... you have *your* niche and it seems to be paying off. Please continue the good work.
Google height yes. I give you the reality. If you want to look at google heights then you don’t need to watch these videos. The truth is here, the google heights are the google heights. Enjoy them 👍

@@ZeeAndris maybe a future video. Who knows
When you say active before the 1980s, do you mean at least recorded an album before 1980? Some of them had their first hits in the 1980s.
I just mean active musically. They didn’t necessarily have to have released an album. As long as they were active in music according to sources it’s fine
@@DataWatch. Ok, that makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up.
@@moorek1967 no problem. Did you have someone in mind who you’d hoped to see?
@@DataWatch. Did I miss Reba McEntire?
@@moorek1967 no she’s there at 5’5 and 3/4
Fascinating! Woulda thought Cher was real teensy.
Haha most think taller
O I remember why - I saw some of her clothes exhibited at MOMA - she’s gotta be a size one (1) !
@@marionmarino1616 🤣
7:00 If Cher is only 5'6" then Sonny must have been a dwarf being the way they always joked about how she towered over him when standing side by side.(Either that or she wore enormous heels to belittle him.)
There’s not much between them honestly. They are in my famous duos video

Minnie Riperton 5 feet 9 !! and a half inches wow I thought she was about 5 feet 2.
😃
I knew Carly Simon would be near the top. What a babe she was!
Totally agree

Where is Celine Dion, Marie Osmond, Amy Grant, The Pointer Sisters, Toni Tennile, Jennifer Warnes, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, Paula Abdul, and Elizabeth Wolfgram?
See you didn’t read the pinned comment! Some of those don’t qualify because of the dates. Others just didn’t make it. Sorry
My 3 favorites, Teena Marie, Minnie Riperton and Phyllis Hyman!
Nice
Diana Ross seems so towering but little. Phyllis Hyman and Carly Simon....wow!!!
Yes tall ladies
I was shocked that Diana Ross wasn’t tall. She definitely seemed so with the 70s fashion
@@0sarah0911 she’s average
So I'm the same height at Tina Turner? I always expected her to be much taller than me!
Boots
The one that surprised me the most was Madonna! She's my height--WHAT?!
Did you think bigger?
As a shorter man, I have always found it unfair, that shorter women have no problem whatsoever attracting taller men--but shorter guys are nearly always looked down upon (pun!) by taller women...I guess that shorter women are considered to be more "feminine" and vulnerable.
I dunno the science behind it but I think some ladies just like tall guys
I think if I had to guess at any of these singers I would get everyone wrong . Really surprised!
Ooh 😮
:Love that these are the "Classic" females. But no Anne Murray, Helen Reddy?
I do apologise! This is why I sent out a post asking for names. I’m not a music expert. These singers have never been drawn to my attention
Grace Jones 5'8 I'm not so sure because she looks to be about 5'10 because I seen a photo of both David Bowie and her standing the same size and David Bowie is 5'10.Some do claim she's 5'8 but Eddie Murphy is 5'10 in the movie Boomerang. But I did find out without those heels on she's 5'8ft.
Look at her being dwarfed by dolph lungdren. I seriously considered listing her lower
@@DataWatch. your right because I just looked those two up and he is tall. But I did compare her to David Bowie who is 5'10 and Grace Jones stands the same height but unable to see her feet.So I digged deeper and I found out she is 5'8 but with 3inch heels she stands 5'11.
@@Noway673 yea she appears tall but in reality 5’8 is about correct
High heels on stage can really change a stature-- and that goes for both men and women. 👍
Hence why many women appear taller than their listing
Tina Turner, Olivia Newton John and Agnetha Faltskog (ABBA) are from afar the best singers all times for me from this list.
More great talents
Olivia, Agnetha and Frida for me!
Pre 1990s Male Tv stars height comparison
Interesting idea
Far too many of these great female singers are sadly no longer with us.
This is true unfortunately
Amy ?
Amy?
Edith Piaf was tiny omg
Yes
Several of these people have gone away.
One way of putting it! Of course heights are peak estimates, I can’t follow people around with a tape measure as they get old
I never realized how many female singers I never heard of and Dolly Parton certainly seems bigger.
Lol
Agnetha Faltskog is the prettiest singer with the best voice she is drop dead gorgeous and tall !!!!
Think many would agree 😊
I didn't know that Susanna Hoffs and Bette Midler were this very, very short 🤔
I was surprised about Hoffs being so small
Interesting there weren't many really tall female singers. Sandie Shaw was probably barefoot due to being self-conscious about her height.
Yea true I suppose
Um, German Davis and Julie Newmar are missing from the 6 ft. area. Sigourney Weaver is also very tall.
This is a singers video 🤷♂️
They are not singers.
Brenda Lee ?
Yea she’s first up
Wow 😳 I didn't even know that Gladys Knight's was 5'3(1/2) but I also looked her up and she is 5'4ft.
Google height yes. I give you the reality. If you want to look at google heights then you don’t need to watch these videos. The truth is here, the google heights are the google heights. Enjoy them 👍
@@DataWatch.Ok! did you personally meet all these famous people and had your measuring tape out to measure them? Because I would like to know how you come up with 5'3 (1/2) or (3/8) I've never seen a half of 3 inch before that almost reach 4 inch's? I mean a half a inch is .50.Not to be funny I never say that this guy is 6'1 and he might be taller than that inch by (1/2) not realistic.I never ask my 5'0 girlfriend if she thinks she could be (1/2) inch taller! why? would she want to know.
@@Noway673 it’s my estimate. I don’t use 3/8 so I’m not sure where you pulled that from. If the data said 3/8 is look at it and go one way or the other. Don’t mind using 1/4 3/4 but will not use eighths lol
WOW😳 I didn't know Phyllis Hyman was that tall! 6'0.I looked it up and she is 6'0ft.
