The rise of the Aston Martin F1 team for me is one of the most interesting stories on the grid, I hope they don’t slowdown or stop now when it appears they could be on the verge of great consistent results! Great engine deal, great lead driver, new infrastructure and new experienced personnel, looking forward to seeing what can be achieved in 24\25!
I agree. Their improvement is kind of shocking. Sure they ended up 5th in the championship but in a season where 2-5 was so close that is damn impressive. Not to mention that is with the worst lineup of the 4. Imagine if they could get someone like Sainz, Hulkenberg, Albon or even one of the Alpine drivers.
I remember when RB were investing heavily in the team and a lot of people just wrote them off as upstarts. Aston Martin are in that same position now, it will be interesting to see where they are in a few years?
What I seen in the season is that Aston started the season with an illegal car because the front wing flaps was to flexible. For me the biggest disappointment was Monaco, where a more aggressive strategy would probably have won them the race. Otherwise this was the team's second strongest season going right back to the Jordan days, behind only the '99 season when they won 2 races and were title contenders until impressively late in the season. The drop-off in performance toward the end was worrying, but I read it as AM having got their car so fundamentally right to begin with that there were only small incremental gains to be made whereas Mercades and McLaren made much bigger strides because their cars were very poor earlier in the season so there was more scope for improvement.
Lawrence Stroll is a multi billionaire and is crazy about auto racing. I mean for 20 odd years this guy owned a FIA grade 3 circuit in Montreal, which he had repaved, widened, extended the pit lane, widened the run-offs and did facility improvements on. And he only sold the track to fund his F1 team. Unless he is experiencing extreme financial hardship, I doubt he will be selling AMR anytime soon.

I would like to see Aston Martin succeed. But I just can't see it happen with Lance Stroll as one of their drivers. Lawrence must know that deep down, in the era of Lewis and Max, that his son cannot compete with them.
Realistically, the thing that matters most is the car. Checo had the worst season of his career and still finished P2 in the standings. Stroll is capable of winning a championship if there was a worse driver next to him, and they built a RB19 level dominant car. i believe that when AM brought their car to the track for testing they were still building the AM23 and adding what they may have thought was an advanced car that should have taken them well into the season, perhaps even close to the mid summer break. i dont think they were prepared for other teams to advance as quickly as they did and AM just werent prepared for it. maybe look at it like the brawn gp car of 09, when they brought just about all they had and just hoped no other team could catch up with them. brawn were very lucky that they got as far ahead as they did, perhaps partly because the other teams were complaining too much about the double diffuser instead of just designing one for their cars. anyway, its possible that AM thought their car was better than it actually was their upgrade packages were too far away for them to do anything much about it. its also telling that they are keeping lance even though if they want to get higher up the grid they need 2 strong drivers instead of one doing most of the heavy lifting, allowing the other to coast just because their daddy is the face of the team! its like verstappen being almost 300 points ahead of perez as opposed to lewis hamilton being only 59 points ahead of george russell. fernando had well over 100 points more than his much slower team mate. so a stronger second seat is a must if AM is to advance up the order.
It's concerning how on one has noticed that with Adrian's announcement this means that another 25% of the shares of the team is sold meaning techinal Lawrence is no longer the soul majority owner
While I think most people want to look at the short term and say that 2023 was a failure given the in-season failure with the development and AM not being able to hold onto the top 3 position in Constructors I would say that overall it's been the exact opposite as most people wrote this team off at the start of the season. With Lawrence we're finally seeing the team effectively use its money and build that permanent state of the art HQ. The real question plaguing Aston Martin is whether they'll get the development right this time.
Even with their lack of decent development the car was still good enough that if they had a decent second driver they would likely have been competing with Ferrari and Mercedes for 2nd.
Observation: Being the benchmark, matching car setup with track characteristics is what RBR seems to get right most of the time. Speculation: If dad is serious with winning championships, will he get another driver to replace his son?
Never even considered Aston selling because I feel like honestly their brand has seen the biggest bump through their involvement in F1, like Merc Ferrari Honda are all established brands but Aston’s stock was on the decline for a while before they joined F1 and got their name back out there
I hate this soap-opera gossip about F1. If Haas (who's owner hardly gives a damn about F1) isn't going anywhere, than neither is Aston-Martin. Not to mention the new factory isn't even finished yet. It's coming into full use next season isn't it?
Anyone can get into F1 with enough money. Stroll & Aston Martin is the current prime example. Aston would be a better team if they had someone with just as much money and a driver who wasn't there only because his dad is the money man.
The car was fundamentally good but perhaps the car after the Canadian Grand Prix just wasn't working as well as Mercedes, McLaren or Ferrari. They managed to fix it for Brazil and Vegas and the car was back in the top 5 with not just Alonso but also Lance Stroll. I hope they've got a good design, engineering, vehicle dynamics and chassis team that knows what doesn't work so that the AMR24 is also a car that just works well like the AMR23 but with more aero load at all speed ranges.
if they want to be competitive they should replace lance with a decent driver. if he did not as good as Alonso but at least some top 5, AM would have secured 2nd in the constructor championship
Strulovic sold as much as he could on promise. Upcoming hurdle may be to find a driver (WDC#1) to outdrive the car if Alonso retires - say if he's sick of competing in the low end of the midfield.
Did I miss any information about AM branching out to sportscars and Lance being sidetracked in that direction? A new investor may also want a better driver alongside Alonso.
Aston Martin seems to need a lot time developing the 23 car . as they started quite early in 22 they had the time to do that but in season that doesn't work.
Maybe Mr. Strulovitch being the successful businessman that he is just sold enough to get his initial investment back. The team's value is now nearly 10x what he initially put in. Wouldn't that just mean he's in it free and clear?
Just look at Stroll's net worth, he is quite a poor guy by F1 standards, and running an unprofitable F1 team is just a thing he couldn't afford for a long time.
I think the whole thing around the sale of shares is just some media going all obvious sensationalism. Nothing all that strange about selling a minor stake. Aston have been in the sport for 4 years now, Stroll made it very clear that he is serious about this so why would he decide to step aside now? This is obviously a long term thing for him and Aston. And as if that is not enough, they just had a great season with huge improvement and a huge capital investment. Acting like this had anything to do with Stroll or Aston stepping aside is pretty dumb. The Stroll that should step aside is the one in the driver's seat, not the boardroom one.
Outside investment is just smart business, daddy Stroll was probably willing to foot the capital to get the team rolling with the intent to bring in outside investment later. Given their success early in 23, it was perfectly timed. It’s only too bad there isn’t an exit strategy for the younger Stroll. I suspect his dad will be around in F1 much longer than Lance will.
It is very simple - Lawrence is in the business of selling cars, and the biggest market for the type of cars that he sells is the Middle East. AM waining in the second half of the year is probably down to the move to the new facilities. I expect that they will also struggle in 2024 as they are getting the new tunnel in and understanding the difference between old and new. It will probably be 25/26 before the benefits are reaped.
To Lawrence, Lance is just a business asset. That part of his investment isn't going to plan, so he's spreading his bets whilst still investing in Aston as a team.
Sole reason Lawrence is owning that team in the first place, is because of his son. So Lance isn't going anywhere, except if he decides to leave himself, but how likely is that?
Actually, The Race did see it coming in pre-season testing. Many people laughed at the time, but The Race did get its predictions right. Aston Martin had made a huge leap forwards. I was one of the many who did not believe the reports.
placing behind McLaren is an strategic advantge because they have more alloted windtunnel time. Coincentently timed with their own state of the art windtunnel at their own facitity.
Arctos Partners LP, a sports team focused private equity fund, has acquired minority stake in a number of USA’s top professional sports team…Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Boston Red Sox…69% growth in past year to $6.6B. Suggests they see major growth in the American market for F1? Very much like Ryan Reynolds and his group acquiring 20% in Alpine F1 this year.
If you give up development early than you can immediately focus on next year. If you're serious about being a champ and have $ then you would immediately shift to next year if you don't honestly see yourself being in real contention for this year. It's actually smart. If your not 1st your last.
Stroll needs to understand that his son isn't going to get him anywhere in F1. Lance doesn't have the talent to be a world champion, and never will. Half the time, it's like Lance doesn't even want to be there to begin with
to name this project "serious" and having alonso-stroll as drivers ia a bad joke... i know, some will say alonso still having it, but... IT IS OLD. if aston martin dont pull a magic car from the hat, redbull wil get 2-3 more titles (24-25, maybe 26, with new tech rules in place). would alonso at that age be capable to fight for a title? i doubt....
If they are serious about being serious they have to ditch Lance. A journeyman is ok for a midfield team but if they are to be front runners they need a front running driver pairing. (only potential decent driver that may come would be Albon or maybe Sainz if he is frustrated at Ferrari.)
A lot of people just hate on Aston Martin because it's clearly a vehicle for Daddy Stroll to have a team for his son to race in. Sheer bitterness and jealousy. They carefully ignore the fact that F1 has been a "rich man's sport" since pretty much it's inception.
@@soundscape26 while that might be true, why not post something less speculative instead? there's tons of f1 content creators out there that can make content without being tabloid-y i subbed because this channel used to be informative and concise. it became more and more clickbait reliant and now it's just too much. or maybe they decided to focus on a specific target group now I know, we have an 'oh no.. anyway' moment lol
With investors now staking their money in the company is Lance Stroll still going to be racing for them? His underperformance relative to Alonso likely cost them millions in constructors prize money.
They started feeling the Seb effect mid season onwards. By all means and rightfully so Alonso is a brilliant brilliant driver, but what Aston needed was beyond a brilliant driver which Seb was, he tirelessly worked in improving the car, the operations, the protocols. I think Aston should lure Seb Back. More than Aston it is F1 who needs to lure Seb back for without him it's a freaking Circus.
Question: would Lance Stroll be driving in F1 if his dad wasn't the owner of the team? With outside investment best time to achieve it is when you're doing well, more money for less of % of the team.

i believe that when AM brought their car to the track for testing they were still building the AM23 and adding what they may have thought was an advanced car that should have taken them well into the season, perhaps even close to the mid summer break. i dont think they were prepared for other teams to advance as quickly as they did and AM just werent prepared for it. maybe look at it like the brawn gp car of 09, when they brought just about all they had and just hoped no other team could catch up with them. brawn were very lucky that they got as far ahead as they did, perhaps partly because the other teams were complaining too much about the double diffuser instead of just designing one for their cars. anyway, its possible that AM thought their car was better than it actually was their upgrade packages were too far away for them to do anything much about it. its also telling that they are keeping lance even though if they want to get higher up the grid they need 2 strong drivers instead of one doing most of the heavy lifting, allowing the other to coast just because their daddy is the face of the team! its like verstappen being almost 300 points ahead of perez as opposed to lewis hamilton being only 59 points ahead of george russell. fernando had well over 100 points more than his much slower team mate. so a stronger second seat is a must if AM is to advance up the order.
1:51 - he's 150% headed for the door.
I will never tire of the enunciation of Mike Krack.
First step to move forward... get rid of Lance ... 80% of the problems done ...
The car won't turn into a title contender just because you get rid of Lance.
@@soundscape26 alonso was the only driver to bring that car into points and podiums. What does lance do ?. suck.. and throw fits.
@@prozoomy That's true yes, but from a car performance point of view the team cannot be focused on that... at least 80% of it.
@@soundscape26 yep I was pretty disappointed that they had such a nice start to the season only to decline later.
*me looking at the title of the video*: Oh Lord have some mercy
LOL, the "rumors" of AM were never based on anything said by anyone associated with the team. It has all been manufactured by the media,
2024 is a big year for them to take another step. I hope they can manage it, we need more top teams
I wonder how much further along they'd be with two world class drivers giving feedback and not nepo boy
This seems like another click bait video, to unleash strolls bashers.
Never even considered Aston selling because I feel like honestly their brand has seen the biggest bump through their involvement in F1, like Merc Ferrari Honda are all established brands but Aston’s stock was on the decline for a while before they joined F1 and got their name back out there
Daddy Stroll needs to come to the realization that his son is not good enough.
The team wants second? Get rid of Lance.
Plus, if you call yourself a works team... you need to make your own engines...
1:50 "I'm not leaving" - Jordan Belfort (kidding Daddy Lawrence is not a very shady businessman).
The biggest issue that AM has is Lanse, Everything else pails in comparison.
Unsubstantiated rumours = youtube video fact, more of the nothing to report so lets start a new rumor
Lawrence knows what a flake Lance is, this is his exit strategy.
I could see Aston Martin being Andretti's ticket into F1 if his bid for a new team fails.
How, for that to happen, Lawrence would have to be willing to sell.
HAAS is far more likely to sell to Andretti than Aston Martin
@@F1ll1nTh3Blankshe said he was in like 2025 or 26 i think
@@cianeberle1712 No he didn't. They literally partnered with Honda for 2026, wtf are you talking about.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks I heard in an interview somewhere, I have no idea where tho so i could just be dumb
would you have called RedBull a wannabe F1 Giant too in 2007 or 2008 ?
if they want to be competitive they should replace lance with a decent driver. if he did not as good as Alonso but at least some top 5, AM would have secured 2nd in the constructor championship
Strulovic sold as much as he could on promise. Upcoming hurdle may be to find a driver (WDC#1) to outdrive the car if Alonso retires - say if he's sick of competing in the low end of the midfield.
Lance will hold them back from any real success
Stroll is fed up because he wants his team to be seen as British. As a Canadian even he should be able to work out that isn’t going to happen.
aston martin is seen as british, what are you on about buddy?
Wtf are you on about? Aston is wholeheartedly British. "as a Canadian even he" and you randomly throwing shade at Canadians for some reason. Goofball.
If Stroll wanted to get out now, he’d have sold to Andretti.
What if Honda buys Aston and brands the team as Mugen Racing Honda?
With one merch item being toilet seat covers that say - The Power of Dreams
Why does this channel continue to use “video game” graphics. Really puts off an “amateur “ feeling and cheap.
To Lawrence, Lance is just a business asset. That part of his investment isn't going to plan, so he's spreading his bets whilst still investing in Aston as a team.
They should start by getting a serious 2nd driver
Sole reason Lawrence is owning that team in the first place, is because of his son. So Lance isn't going anywhere, except if he decides to leave himself, but how likely is that?
@@FabledGentleman It ain't happening. It still should.
Mike crack never gets old
Actually, The Race did see it coming in pre-season testing.
Many people laughed at the time, but The Race did get its predictions right. Aston Martin had made a huge leap forwards. I was one of the many who did not believe the reports.
The big question is, when is he going to axe his own son and if so, will he continue to be as committed as he is now?
placing behind McLaren is an strategic advantge because they have more alloted windtunnel time. Coincentently timed with their own state of the art windtunnel at their own facitity.
Fire Lancelot?
Get stroll out that seat and put someone more worthy in there
Arctos Partners LP, a sports team focused private equity fund, has acquired minority stake in a number of USA’s top professional sports team…Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Boston Red Sox…69% growth in past year to $6.6B.
Aston Martin have realised that front loading your development will give you over the whole season better average results.
What happened to all Lance's lower formula team's when the Stroll's left. 🤔
all your videos are all talk and no substance
Stroll needs to understand that his son isn't going to get him anywhere in F1. Lance doesn't have the talent to be a world champion, and never will. Half the time, it's like Lance doesn't even want to be there to begin with
Lance has shown he's never going to have genuine F1 chops, so Lawrence is going to step back
Didn't he finish 10th out of 22 drivers.
Please stop using the video game clips during your reporting. They seem out of place on a channel producing F1 news. Plus, they are very distracting.
Only bad thing about Aston is lance stroll, but since he is the son of the owner, he might not get replaced by a better driver
Aston`s bigest weakness is both storlls. Aston Martin is show potetential next season even when sen driving
"max farts on checo - ricciardo gets pink eye" would've been a story with about as much truth as this video
to name this project "serious" and having alonso-stroll as drivers ia a bad joke... i know, some will say alonso still having it, but... IT IS OLD. if aston martin dont pull a magic car from the hat, redbull wil get 2-3 more titles (24-25, maybe 26, with new tech rules in place). would alonso at that age be capable to fight for a title? i doubt....
It's the other stroll that needs to go
If they are serious about being serious they have to ditch Lance.
Ive just unsubbed. There is no story here!

The end of the year is not prone to exciting stories for videos.

Meh... rumors
With investors now staking their money in the company is Lance Stroll still going to be racing for them? His underperformance relative to Alonso likely cost them millions in constructors prize money.
Lawerence is a businessman. He’s doing business.
The Strolls is the biggest issue
I give 3-5 years and in thst time he sells the f1 team.
stroll is using shadow companies to “buy in” to his own team to be able to drop lance due to “investor board pressure”
Seb? And his bee's too?
@@bikerjon8934They can call it Seb's B(ee) Team'. ☺
Most likely in sometime we might have the same situation like in football. Big boys or funds buying teams...
F1 game footage goes hard
This will be Andretti in 5 years. You need very deep pockets to even dream about cracking the top three.
Question: would Lance Stroll be driving in F1 if his dad wasn't the owner of the team?
With outside investment best time to achieve it is when you're doing well, more money for less of % of the team.
The popular comments from people in response to this video strongly support my thoughts that The Race have got it completely wrong on this one. Also the standard criticism of Lance who had some pretty good races, particularly the last race.
