Child Custody is non-existence because the girl was not taken by either of her parents, only adopted by the protag into their party or sold to Pocketcat
The fact that Sylvian sees "Marriage" as a fusion of two beings instead of a binding ritual of love strongly indicates that the old gods really don't understand humans. And maybe, just maybe, it says something about what "Marriage" is for the old gods...
Marriage for the gods is basically what happens when you give two toys to a kid and says nothing.
Or perhapse it is the humans of the setting who do not understand the gods seeing as they were manifest first.
That could make sense, since if I understand it correctly the Ascended Gods form by merging with the Old God they're replacing

From what I learned it's Dark Souls roguelike meets oppressive Berserk story with Phantasy Star difficult gameplay. It and the sequel are on Steam. 😊

@@xkavarsmith9322tbh its not Phantasy Star difficulty, because in PS you can bypass your enemy just by extra hard grinding. Its more like oldskull Dungeons and dragons, where one failed skillcheck can absolutely destroy you and your team.

Hear me out - I'm convinced that the the regular Guards are Marriages themselves (either with other guards or prisoners) when you compare them to the player Marriage, with them having above average strength, face being weirdly molded, right arm bigger than the left. Exclusively to the guards, they have unnaturally long "stingers"which might be their own personal bonus they got from Sylvan.
Honestly, this does make a lot of sense, we know for a fact that a marriage can go above 2 souls in 1 vessel, so it is a possibility that guards themselves are marriages and moonless guards are abominable marriages.

Even if the meta reason for it is that the dev didn’t want to cross that line, the fact that trying to become a marriage with a non-consensual partner leads to an agonizing death has some really fascinating implications.
It more or less implies that sexual assault is an act so vile and evil that even the Gods that embody the horrific aspects of life reject those who would commit it.
It also implies that it's an act of evil invented by mortals.
I'm not sure why people think that the dev being uncomfortable with the subject somehow invalidates the fact that they made it canonical lore. And it *is* canon, given that they've made changes to characters in order to maintain consistency about it. The fact that it being canonically considered an irredeemably horrible act to the same Gods that are noted as being cold, cruel, and indifferent to mortal suffering should be taken as being consistent with the settings portrayal of humans being those most cruel to humans.
The entire point of the first game was that the New Gods, despite being human, were far more hostile, abusive, and _downright EVIL_ towards humanity than the Old Gods ever were. How does the Gods not tolerating rape contradict that? Answer: It doesn’t.
If anything, it's rather disturbing that there are players who are genuinely so mad that they can't participate in pedophilia in the game, that they try to come up with excuses for why it doesn’t make sense that they're punished for it. They completely miss the point of the first game and fail to have the realization of "wow, maybe the Old Gods punishing rape is a sign of how fucked up humans are, particularly when compared to the Old Gods that they portray as being monstrous." Trying to argue with the Dev about the lore they wrote. While ignoring the fact that they're saying that they want to be able to commit secual assault on a minor.
I get that F&H is a pretty fucked up game, but it shouldn't be rocket science to realize that arguing that you should be allowed to commit CSA is a certified "I'm a PoS" moment.
Also it's pretty obvious the old gods you can pray to at the circles wouldn't condone rape.
Sylvian is the goddess of love, to produce a marriage is a holy thing to her, two beings becoming their love. It's weird and fucked up but flows naturally.
Gro-goroth is the god of DESTRUCTION, destruction does not discriminate or wish to bring pain, it may cause pain because the destruction was incomplete, or you feel grief at what was destroyed, Gro-goroth feels no malice.
Rape has no love, Rape has no destruction. It leaves someone in intense pain and does nothing else.
This is not the evil of the old gods who embody nature, but as you say the evil of man. It's malice.
It makes sense lore-wise and morality wise to not include that feature, well I mean, except Nas'hrah, if violating my body with flames was a form of that.

This is quite interesting as (not arguing in favour of chastising the creator for not animating pedophilia) most arguements are that so many more horrid fates await the girl, sacrifice, limb loss, sacrifice, sold to a pedophile (though the creator eventually tried to retcon it and in this case one might argue that's going a bit far considering how there is no outright act only dread for her fate) and of course *fear and hunger*. that grape seems like a minor issue but the only reason is that all of these are absurd and unbelievable not to mention rarely if ever as graphic as what happens to other NPC's and characters, forcing yourself on a child feels too grounded especially in a public game like this and with obvious discomfort from the creator, I honestly find it endearing the creator of such a dark, grim, phallic game knows to draw the line at player endorsed rape.
Enki can also become an abominable marriage if you fail to recruit him in terror and starvation mode, and its supposed to be a fight but its bugged at the moment, resulting in an instant win
I feel like the glitch kinda adds to the game, this massive wheezing abomination walking towards, you expect a difficult and disturbing fight and it just crumbles to the floor. Definitely a bit creepy, it really shows the effects of Sylvian and how you shouldn't really place your trust in the gods.

From the gameplay perspective I appreciate it. It’s good not to have such a disgusting thing shown at all.
That said, I find it weird Eldritch Horrors like this would have any lines drawn. Lore wise it makes more sense that they don’t let you “marry” her because she herself is an abomination that can become a god. So the process wouldn’t work on her. That makes more sense to me than these grotesque gods having any kind of moral standard.

I had to make a marriage one time due to both of my party members losing their legs. It was a long crawl to the circle. A good item that has helped me tremendously is using a soul stone on the big fish thing in the mines after you kill him. His stone makes it to where whoever holds it can’t lose limbs or bleed, and that helped me a lot for the mid game.
The salmonsnake soul is truly a life saver.

I don't think so, moonscorched victims usually have scarring and discolored burns all across them, neither appear on the moonless guards.Moonless guards are a marriage between moonless and regular guards, the teeth of the guard heavily imply this.

Well the guards are moonscorched in a way. I think the God of the Depths (which is the Dungeon of Fear and Hunger) has a similar monsterfication effect on people which is why we get things like the guards, night lurches and crowmauler.

Moonless guards are... Guards, and Moonless wolves. I think the worst part here is that marriages can only be performed with willing participants to my knowledge, meaning that the wolf must have been desperate enough to consent.
Is it confirmed that both participants need to be willing? Because from what I know the character just refuses to perform the marriage with an unwilling character, but a guard might not care. Is it ever stated that an unwilling marriage is impossible at all or just impossible because you're playing a character that doesn't want to?
Or maybe the guards were the ones who consented...

The marriage in the thicket is actually sir Seymour and buckman, and they only appear in the thicket if you exhaust their dialog before saving the other members of their party

BTW I take anti depressants every day and have no problem ejaculating. In fact my libido is a little too strong sometimes. I guess the author has some mental problems but fears being less of a man if he takes anti depressant medication. Don't worry, I had a similar fear with it dulling my intellect and making me a vegetable, there's not much to worry about. If you really struggle you should talk to your doctor about it, they can refer you to a mental health expert.
There is one problem with anti depressants and that is that you have to find one that works for you. There are many types and there is no way to know if they will help you other than trying under a psychiatrists watch.

It's not that marriage is like that in the world of Fear and Hunger, it's just in that Dungeon corrupted by those twisted powers. Outside the world is normal, that is why in several endings it is mentioned that the protagonists cannot fully re-adapt to human society that lives normally and carefreely without knowing what happened in that Dungeon.

Steven Universe fusions weren't as horrific and were always reversible. Then there were imperfect ones as a symbol of abusive relationships.

I'm not sure what you mean by "imperfect fusions that represented abusive relationships." It's true that certain interpretations or associations can be made in some cases (and what is often said that Peridot represents asexuals, and is only she) but the Steven Universe Realm has its own defined rules. To start with, fusions between different gems were forbidden because they always gave rise to versions "with deformations and imperfections" and it also tended to encourage changes of ideas and individualism and/or attachment/distractions, that's why fusion was only allowed with the same type of gem and only for practical things. On the other hand Sardonix was magnificent and balanced in every way (too bad it seems that Sapphire is so passive that she always gets overshadowed if the fusion is with more than 2, as well as her future vision), but Sardonix had behind her manipulation, deception and insecurity... and none of that was reflected in her. Malachite had that quadrupedal or centaur form because if you look closely all the gems have some characteristic features and there are gems "with more dominant features" than others, for example the Rubies have a body shape that is maintained and is recognized whether it is fused with a Pearl or a Sapphire. In the case of Malachite, it seems the Jasper has the dominant centaur trait.

I meant the ones forced by Malachite, which she always forced others into. They were more unstable compared to the "consensual" ones and she had difficulty keeping them together (Or so I remember, I was never a big fan of the show).

Much more unstable was always Opal (the fusion of Pearl and Amethyst). Jasper being so dominant managed to dominate the fusion and keep it together, although later Lapis managed to prevail for a good while. And of course, one can draw conclusions or interpretations, with the case of Malachite being a fusion in which each one fought with the other to impose and dominate the fusion unlike others in which all parts tried to harmonize and act together as one. But the appearance/form of the fusions has more to do with the types of gems that are composing that fusion.
