    • @valkeakirahvi

Buy second-hand cages and toys. The new ones from the pet store are super expensive, but you can get all kinds of used stuff almost for free. Just be careful to wash or quaranteen everything before use just in case it has something that could spread to your mice!

Get wood chips from people who makes furniture like my dad

I love to make them their own treats. Last year I dried all my carrots from my small vegetable garden in the oven, it took forever, but now my mom got herself a drying machine so I can borrow that! I really love getting creative with my mice and looking for things for their cage. In my country, you don't really have hammocks for mice or hamsters so I made some from panholders lol.

I have a food dehydrator... Veggies some times end too crispy / hard.

Rodents are the best pets to get for recycling! Even if you're not mad into it. You can make great puzzle toys out of loo roll tubes! And boxes are always great! Stuff you'd get anyway can be used as chew toys and chewable hideys. XD
I have guinea pigs and I swear that they have had much more fun with a plain cardboard box than they ever have had with expensive hideys!

    • @ThatAnimalHouse

I absolutely love this! I'm finally looking into getting mice again because i miss them so much and i love just how postive and helpful you are! I love that you made an entire video with th mindset of "you don't have to be rich to own pets or give them fancy things for them to have a fulfilling life" it seems like that is how a lot of caged animal videos are and as someone who has avoided getting mice again mostly because of money restrictions this almost made me cry happy tears being told "yeah you can totally take care of these guys on a budget" because giving my fur babies the best loves possible has always been a top priority ❤❤

Cereal bar boxes are always a hit, I convert Dairylea boxes into foraging toys... and when it's Easter, my guys get a couple of extra rooms in their cage... as long as none of these items come in glossy boxes. Glossy boxes are a non-no, but they love chewing up cardboard, crazy lil creatures!

#1 How much and how often should and how much should I feed my Rats?
#2 I'm possibly doing a nature-themed cage, and I was wondering if I could put fake plants inside. I think the plastic would be bad for them, but I want to be sure.
#3 Will the breeders produce the certain Rats I have requested for? or will they offer the ones they have available at that moment? I'm fine with it either way, but I really want to be sure.
so those are my questions! people have suggested some answers for these questions, but I want to hear your answer to be sure! (Sorry if I overwhelmed you.)

    • @valkeakirahvi
      @valkeakirahvi 2 года назад

      1. Rats should always have some food available. If you use seed mix, try to wait until they've eaten almost all, and then add more, otherwise they start picking the tastier stuff. If you use lab blocks that's not a problem and you can have more acailable all the time. + I give some fresh veggies daily & protein treat a couple of times a week 2. I wouldn't use fake plants, the plastic is probably not safe for chewing. 3. Breeders have their own breeding goals. Try to find a breeder that breeds the type you are interested in :) Usually any breeder only has a couple of different colours and types. I'm not her but hope it helps :D

    • @Emiology

Don’t keep it, they don’t make good pets and it can be stressful for a wild animal to have to be around humans. If it’s cold when you catch it you can keep it temporarily until you have a warm day so it can adjust ☺️

    • @RATGUTZZ

Please don't keep it. As much as I love mice, a lot of the wild ones do carry diseases that can hurt/kill not only you but your other pets if you have any. I wish they didn't but it would be better for both you and the mouse to not capture it.

Noob question if anybody knows, wouldn't the saw dust bother my mice? From the horse bedding recommended I mean. Id like a better option to the current bedding that I use (just regular "paper" type bedding from the pet store). It doesn't go 3 days without smelling AND I don't want them sitting in bad/moist bedding either! Also, I just got out of a situation where flies infested their little house!! I realized what was happening and bought them a brand new tank, cleaned or threw away everything and they now have a dwelling I can easily clean (the house they had before was a birdhouse I couldn't open and I will NEVER give them something like that again). So they are safe and sound now btw, no worries.

No, they’re wild mice and don’t make good pets it’s stressful on them to be kept in a cage

Hey anyone who can help please help!!!! I found a baby mouse with no mother and needed help. I just lost a hamster and I put the mouse in the old hamsters cage. The mouse is moving around on its own fine and has already opened its eyes. I have never cared for a baby mouse or any baby animal. If there is anything I need to know please let me know
