I've been through discipling young people up to this very moment .It is very hard for me to gather these young ones around me and have our 'discipleship materials" being answered. But one thing i do forget, im not creating good relationships anymore instead im so focus on finishing the resources we have! Discipleship is letting people see you how live your life with Jesus!❤️❤️❤️
There is tremendously little discipleship in the church guys. I am 35 now but I remember as a younger man asking an older gentlemen I respected just to meet with me now and again. I needed advice on Christian manhood, family, marriage, etc. And nothing ever came from it. So I never asked anyone again for that type of mentorship. I thought to myself oh this must not really take place in the church. I was sitting with a missionary my wife and I financially support. She was astonished that I had an equivalent maturity in the faith. She asked how I got like that......I told her via the radio, good books, youtube etc. She was discipled not through a connection with the local church but through college para church ministries like CRU or Navigators. We both discovered the church had very little to do with our discipleship. You're so right that we think discipleship is a Sunday school class or a group study. But really it's a much more intimate process. And frankly since I wasn't discipled I've struggled with how to offer my mentorship to other young men in the church. Since we don't experience it many who strive for some type of maturity in the faith don't know how to pass it on and take someone under our wing. I appreciate your videos guys.
Great wisdom. While I do use a curriculum, and I have a specific time where I meet with a group of men for Discipleship each week, I also pour my life into them. We engage in ministry together. They see how I love others, response to adversity, and follow Christ. They watch me get knocked down and get back up. They have a front row seat to biblical application in my life.
Bless you brother. There’s nothing wrong with the “books”. Paul stated “be sure to bring the books.” Must have a curriculum. A cannon of work with the “words” and the “word”. Words- what God said. Word - what God meant by what he said. One is instruction the other is insight. They will receive the instruction, but never the insight until a we form a intimate relationship covered with intercessory prayer. John 17 is our pattern. Praying for you as you reproduce. For His Glory, T.
Finally, someone speaks out. Churches in America are ineffective, dead, and feckless churches... With rare exceptions, the churches in America became the real Laodicea. The church in Laodicea had grown lukewarm and useless. Their selfish focus on wealth and culture kept them from living on purpose in this life. But Jesus offered them a second chance. He wanted a relationship with them again, and that relationship would put the church back on mission. Churches are becoming more a social gathering than a real spiritual community, focusing more on numbers than people's development. Most leaders are career seekers, and professional preachers while forgetting about the divine calling. Way too much money is invested in buildings, cutting-edge media, and entertainment to compete with other churches, while the mission fields mainly international lack missionaries and support.

Hmm no one gets discipleship from reading their Bible. We must not make excuses and twist things to fit our shortcomings. If you desire intimacy and relationship with the Body of Jesus, ask Him. Don't pretend that your set up is okay God bless
I’ve been a Christian going on 17 years now and I’ve never really been discipled, and I’ve never changed churches. I have seen the examples of other men in my church for the most part it’s a lonely road.
Find a new church. If discipleship and fellowship are not pillars in your church they are not hitting key objectives that are necessary to help you grow in Christ. Praying for wisdom for you brother.
@@whatiswyatt I appreciate the love. Unfortunately it’s not an easy decision for me because I feel an attachment to the congregation, all these years of being around the same people makes it difficult to just get up and go.
They are HIS disciples. We help train and equip them. Once someone believes they are initiated into discipleship of Christ. We help get them the milk while they are young and then they can get the meat themselves.
Hi Todd greatings from Aruba , I have one question , how I can deal with my Jehovah witness family they are so deceived , how can I help them ? thank you very much
Alfonso Thiel - Prayers are powerful and crucial, specially when you're in that kind of situation. Then let's say they share something about their beliefs with you, for example that Jesus isn't God, you show them in your Bible where it says He is. You already know that their Bible is different from ours so when there's an opportunity for you to share the truth, take it and teach them with love. You also have to be very patient because they can't take it all in at once. Remember, it's a cult and they have been taught many false doctrines. Even in everyday conversations, if you see a moment where you can share, you share that one thought and move on. A thought like such gives them a chance to ponder about what you shared. When you notice that they come back to you to question about something you shared, that's when you know that the scales from their eyes are being removed and they're more open minded. I hope you find this helpful. I've prayed for you and your family. May God bless you all. Shalom!
You asked 2 years, great question. From my view point, it seems sports in America is a religion. Many people will spend an hour at church like a bump on a long and then spend half the day fully animated amongst cursing and drunken people cheering on a team. In Gods eyes are sports his will? Sports can become idol that’s for sure. I guess watching NFL within reason I guess isn’t a bad thing. I personally don’t watch sports, I was never into it. But aren’t we suppose to do all things in the glory of God? A fine line for sure but my leaning these money hungry teams are worldly and don’t amount to a hill of beans in regards to eternity. “Oh but I’m an all around athlete, a quarterback and I have three championships under my belt?” Does that impress God? No, no it doesn’t but the world eats it up and steep their kids in it.
thanks guys! I do disagree about having such an emphasis on being a good example over listening to preaching and studying scriptures in this video though.. in Luke 10 Martha was busy with hospitality while Mary listened to Jesus and Jesus said that Mary chose the better option. discipleship is about about bible study and sermon listening as well as letting our light shine before others. in the great commission Jesus told his disciples to make disciples by "teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you." we learn from relationships in Christ as well as diligent scripture studies
Jacob Kohler, I think his point is this, true Discipleship is not "bible study curriculum" or going through a class. It's rather following Jesus with everything you have and teaching others to do the same. Yes, this involves intense study of scripture, but it also involves intense application of scripture. It takes a Disciple to make a Disciple and biblical knowledge alone does not equate with Discipleship.
The problem with discipleship is that everybody has a different definition. Stop trying to defining discipleship. Discipleship has already been defined- by Jesus. Matthew 28:18-20, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” A disciple is somebody who is baptized and is taught to obey Jesus. We need to stop blaming churches for ‘not having discipleship programs’. The job is on you & me to pray and read the word.

in discipling, men shoud disciple men and women should disciple women.
