I just ordered this pattern. I made my own pattern because two little neighbor boys loved all my material and they loved my sewing machine. They had never seen anyone sew before so I showed them and also cut out my frog pattern and made them both a frog. They even picked out the eyes. Thank you

Many thanks! I just finished making five of them for my grandchildren for Christmas. I used some wonderful leftover fabric and each is adorable. I used a funnel for the poly pellets and it made the job easier! I'm sure the kids will love them!

I discovered Jordan a few months ago and I am addicted! I'm a beginning sewist but I just LOVE watching Donna work. She and Matt are adorable. I ordered a download of this pattern from FQS because Jordan doesn't have it anymore 😞. I was thinking that using a little fusible web at the opening after you fill it might make the final stitching easier. I am going to try it as soon as I get a chance to make this. So cute!!

  • @danbev8542

Cute idea! I'm not crazy about the poly pellets. There is waaay too much polyester in out oceans & generally in the environment. I would try using lentils or rice. Lentils or rice would be heavier, but would work well, I think. I've made simple rice-filled bags to use as bed warmers. OH! She just mentioned microwaving rice! It works great! Also - embroidering eyes would work well.

If the rice has any unhatched weevil eggs in it, you could eventually end up with weevils in the frog. You could put a bag of rice in the freezer for 72ish hours, take it out, open the bag, and lay the rice on a towel or paper towels until they thaw and any moisture dries up. After that, you shouldn't have an issue with weevils.

Aww- I’m catching this video in my list a full 4 years later! I first saw the froggies back when Two Sisters originally put the pattern out- ages ago!- and made it for my autistic son! He loved the hefty weight plus the fact that it was a froggie! Since then, I have made several of these cuties for all the autistic kiddos we have known throughout the years! We love them!! 💜🧩🐸

  • @vivianpowell1732

    I love this pattern!
The eyes can be embroidered, using cotton floss or perle cotton. The center of the eyes can be French knots.
If you're going to be making several of these frogs over time, then measure the number of cups of poly pellets you use for your first frog. This will take the guesswork out of filling your subsequent frogs with poly pellets.

A funnel really makes filling the crafty things so easy and maybe basting the opening closed before you sew it on the machine will keep the filling inside. I have a big bag of crushed walnut shells that would work great for this project and I think embroidering the eyes would look really cute! Great project!!

This frog would make a great gift for a student going away to college for the first time. It could be given as the student's high school graduation gift, with a note or poem included about taking the frog along to college. A simple, handmade fellow like this can be comforting in a new and sometimes daunting experience.

What a darling frog, nice pattern and very good tutorial. If I were making a bunch, I might cut the pattern from clear template material, to see the line up of fabrics. Can you imagine this done in rich colors and velvets and satins like a real crazy quilt and then embellished. Would turn him into a real frog prince!! You could even give him a crown.

    • @roxierios6046

Filled mine with rice instead of the poly beads. It's cheaper and can be heated or put in freezer for when a kid isn't feeling well. Absolutely love the possibilities of patchwork that can be used.

The Poly Pellets are great for this project. They do Not retain heat, however. A great alternative is Rice or Whole Flax Seeds. 30 sec. to 1 minute in the microwave. The flax seeds retain heat the longest. You can also add 1 drop of Essential Oil per cup of filler, mix a bowl and then stuff, for a nice scent.

I bought the pattern on the Jordan Fabrics’ website. I received it promptly and made two frogs within the first 24 hours; I have a third one by now. I find the poly pellets a little pricey, or else I would have made a few more frogs. Great project to make. Thank you Donna; this was a ton of fun and the little froggies have gotten a lot of compliments.

Love this great tutorial and how you had clear instructions step by step. Your enthusiasm is contagious especially at the end with your poised frogs as I now want to make this frog doing the patchwork wonky angles way. I loved how that looked and also the pinking shears to finish off the edges. I found a similar pattern and paid ten cents for it- and I have made several and filled them with dry beans and hand sewed some embroidery thread eyes. The children I gave them too love poising them too? What a fun gift to give. Thank you for making this video.
