    Red House with Mike Stern singing. Wow! It's the first time I've heard him sing. Interesting this version of Jimi Hendrix song.

    Thanks for this video. Just beautiful. You see, I envy and love musicians who like to beat the odds. It doesn't matter if it's Stern, Lenny White and/or Steve Morse ( who is also dealing with an arthritis wrist problem as well ). These are guys who will do anything to make a gig and play music. It's their life. I've seen ( and actually hung out with ) Mike more than a few times and have alwasy enjoyed his shows and music. He and the band are ripping it up beautifully here.

      Mike have played an additional to that list at Edinburg, a very sweet piece nearly alone on the guitar and voice. I can't find the title, if you can help Daniel I will be very please. Thank you

    speaking as a drummer Lenny is fantastic. so tasteful and doesn't need or want to solo all the time but when he does its perfect and grooves like shit!

      Yeah I like his Istambul cymbals too. Really dry sounding. Will be seeing Mike in Minneapolis in a couple days along with Dennis Chambers on drums. Dennis is sick! Saw him with Victor Wooten a few months ago.

      Evans front head thrown on the bass drum but shot of Lenny from behind almost at the beginning shows he's really playing Remo. Play one or the other, don't "advertise" for Evans but really "play" Remo. I'm so sick of this. You don't see the top guys mixing cymbal brands, for example, except Mike Clark.

    • @Monsterdrumma
      @Monsterdrumma 6 лет назад +1

      branwerks Top guys don't mix because they get paid by the companies endorsing them. Lenny was with a small drum company called Liberty drums but these look and sound like Gretsch. The company probably went under. Vinnie Colaiuta always recorded with Gretsch while playing Yamaha in public and a ton of drummers do these things.

      Its sad yeah - but he took it like a champ and while not quite as nimble can still play like a monster :) I saw him mid 2018 and it really amazing...

    here's a hiñt guys I always start halfway through these jazz concerts cos all the boring self-indulgent stuff is always at the beginning and more groovy stuff at the end. They know they won't get an enclore otherwise!! This is no exception.

    2 very different points. First of all, ultimate kudos to Stern for playing with that busted up hand. Very brave. Still sounds great and what an effort. Someone made a comment about his wardrobe. I have made comments before about some musician's dress code. I play regularly at local venues and I have to dress up (somewhat). I have been playing all my life and had been chastised for dressing down. As I matured, I understood that dressing up improves the overall public perception of your performance. You don't have to dress like a "pimp" or overdo it. Just dress up some. you look and feel better.

    Lenny White is just lame. Very out-classed by Stern and the others. White played also with Chick Corea and Stan Clarke on Corea's 'Forever' album, and just seemed to fade when the solo came to him. Here, he can barely keep up.

      With all due respect, I might suggest that if you followed Lenny's work with any interest or even curiosity, you might have discovered the monumental challenges he has been doing his best to surmount of late! Just as with Mike, he suffers from nerve damage, yet they both courageously are dealing with it the best they can! Mike told me a few weeks ago that Lenny has been a huge help and source of inspiration for him since his fall and injury! I would add that before chopping a truly great musician's talent to shreds, you might show a little curiosity. As for Mike, he now has to GLUE his pick to his fingers before going on stage! They deserve heaps of praise for their courage and efforts, and love of music! www.idrummag.com/interviews/lenny-white-venusian-drummer/

      It' s interesting that Lenny played .. >" also with Chick Corea and Stan Clarke on Corea's 'Forever' album,"..< I love this...(one) 'Forever' album, since my childhood.. Really...Especially because there is NOT ONE album entitled "forever" , Neither the band was entitled 'Forever' , neither nothing ..
