All of that involves music theory. Even if you use a system to know how to create chords that's different than how college or some type of music university would traditionally teach, you are still using music theory. You can debate whether or not you need to know intermediate or advanced techniques, but pretty much everyone uses and needs at least a basic knowledge of music theory.

Music theory helps you get out ideas quicker. you could make a couple wips in one day that would have taken you a few days to do the exact same thing because you already had an idea of what to do before going into your daw and blindly editing notes.
I definitely recommend learning a bit of theory, it will help you be more creative and express yourself in your music, it helped and still helps me to this day

I think its equally important to have a general understanding of music theory as it is to have a trained ear. Music theory is only one dimension without a good ear and creativity.
Of course it makes it better. You can make a good melody without theory knowledge, but making an interesting melody or a great melody not counting flukes takes knowledge. Take for example the original Mario 1-1 melody, musically it is genius and that is not going to be possible without they knowledge.
I really think that if I really learn music theory in detail, it would just restrict me cause I would just use scales all the time and I feel that I can make pretty good melodies without it.

None of The Beatles knew music theory. Hans Zimmer doesn't know much music theory. And I doubt that 95% of the producers who are famous (I.E Skrillex ect) sat down and did a music theory exam. Armin van Burren knows a bit.

However that being said, the short answer is learning music theory or music harmony always gives a small advantage as time won't be an issue when making beats as you know exactly what your doing when you're placing down melodies and chords etc...

Music theory really helps in getting the ideas out of your head and into the DAW. Takes a lot of the trial and error out of it
