I think I could honestly listen to you talk all day, and I LOVE how passionate you are about your subjects. As far as tropes go, miscommunication is probably all the way up there - just fucking *talk* to each other, you know? And another one - he/she is absolutely the best at whatever they do, but the only way you know is that because the author is telling you directly, rather than showing you through their actions.

@tinyfishhobby3138 thank you so much, that is very kind! I absolutely agree, it is so much better to show the characters' skills to the readers, rather than tell them how good they are!

Miscommunication is an ick I have with PEOPLE

@jonahthejedai4973 Oh my goodness YES! Tell me about it. For me, miscommunication tells me that you are letting your own pride and ego get in between the relationship

Okay I got baited so hard by the thumbnail, I had my pitchforks all ready to mount an impassioned defence of there being only one bed. Cool video, thank you! I share your appreciation for the god of light being evil, actually.

Goodness gracious no!!! The "Only One Bed" trope deserves all the love and respect! 🖤 It is one of the only tropes that makes me giggle and kick my feet like a high schooler 😂

Ooh, you just reminded me of my own least favourite trope: soulmarks! I seriously dislike the idea of love as some divinely-ordained thing, rather than a relationship that is fostered intentionally between two people. Some fanfic authors try to justify or deconstruct the trope, but I've yet to find an example that I thought actually succeeded.

@xujhan like: our souls are tied by destiny and we are meant to be together by divine interaction?

@@darkesthourreads Yes, exactly! And often extremely literal too, like: "everyone is born with a super magic tattoo, find the other person with the same super magic tattoo as yours and you'll fall in love immediately and be together forever." It's ghastly!

a trope i don;t like which is popular in asian novels is a main character transmigrating into a story and becoming a villain, for some reason the main characters are always so bland that I would rather read from the original character's pov, it's a shame because it's an interesting rremise

Oh that is interesting! I haven't seen a book with a trope like that before. Do you have any examples?

@@darkesthourreads this is a popular trope in chinese web novels, I've also seen some korean manhwua that has this trope(only judging from the title),often the trope is simply stated in the title, you can look it up on sites that translate chinese novels
