Kiran if healthy can play Guard as well. Especially if Nate Davis starts off slow or is junk at the start of the year.
Why would you not want a player to progress quickly? That doesn't make sense to me, why would you not want a player to reach their potential as quickly as possible?

Business. First, you have veterans needing to fulfill contract obligations. Million dollar contracts at that level have specifics and stipulations about non-competes, plays/minutes played and a ton of other details we are not privy to. Same reason coaches will prevent players from earning bonuses by not calling plays for them. Second, you don’t want all your rookies wanting huge contracts at the same time when all their rookie deals end…its purely financial strategy. Also don’t forget - just like baseball, these organizations analyze body types and have an idea of how much stress they think a players body can handle over a period of time - a lot like pitchers. Its ALWAYS about protecting their investments. I know as fans we want the best players on the field, but that comes with a price and the bears need to be mindful of their future…not just right now.
