I've had the Epi SG Special for about a year now. Everything is stock and it is by far the best guitar I've ever played. I only play at home so for £350 UK, I cannot complain. Great guitar and the tones you can get out of this thing is amazing. Add a decent fuzz and overdrive for those Gary Clark Jr dirty blues tones 👌🏾
I've played one, no it's not ("saving...) Epiphone are far better than all the Gibson SG Special and Jr I've had for 30 years, and I've had a lot, believe me.
I picked up a second hand Epi SG Modern 2020 here in Thailand and it is a fantastic, quality instrument. it rings like a bell, plays great, really low action and many high end features including the probucker pickups. I love it! I want the p90 now!
I got a 2020 inspired by Gibson Epiphone P-90 SG Classic in Inverness Green and it has a bridge on it. I was going to get this one, but I liked the option of being able to adjust the bridge rather than only the stop tail. it sound's just like the one in the video and is a really great deal when compared to the Gibson, some slight aesthetic flaw's like a little paint over some binding near the neck joint, but other than that it's pretty clean aside from the dirty fretboard as always on Chinese guitar's . I have 7 Epiphone's and love all of em, some even better than my Gibson's. I just also got the new 59' Epi. Les Paul standard LE Dark Burst and that guitar is a gem and even better than some Gibson's I've played.
Thanks for this video! Great demonstration. Do you know if there are differences between the Epiphone SG Special P90 and the Epiphone Les Paul Special P90 yellow TV? I ask in terms of the quality of sounds that they can make, I know the body and everything feels different. I can’t decide. Thanks again for for this video.
Thanks for the nice review! I too have been thinking about grabbing one of these, and this is very helpful! Back in the sixties I had a Gibson Melody Maker with the wraparound lightning-bolt bridge, and I always had trouble with the G string wanting to intonate "sharp" on me, but now I'm wondering if that's because, back then, the pre-intonation was designed with a "wound" G string in mind, whereas I was using an unwound G string? In any event, did you find the intonation on this guitar acceptable? Also, is there any way to raise and lower the two pickups?
Snazzy jacket. Too bad that the metal sleeve zipper is scratching the crap out of the guitar finish, but looks cool. Perhaps a Texas rodeo belt buckle would hasten the finish's decline.
Great review! Yeah you do anything on the Epi SG Special that you can do on the Gibson, except show off your bank account. For sure the “inspired by G” models are all really good guitars.
