Whenever I press M to drag down the octagon to the bottom it takes the whole shape with it. and dividing didn't work either! Do I have the wrong version, or is it just the shortcuts?
After you press M, press ctrl. This will make a copy of the object you're moving.

they we all good and I even subscribed, the only part that I didn't quite catch what you were doing was the gear part. So I did it manually, created all the 22 lines separately before getting the gear done. If you can put in the comments instructions again on how to Rotate and/or copy rotate that would be helpful.

its the star symbol on your numpad
How do you make the inner circle? Tried multiple times and stuck here.
Use the Offset tool? Shortcut: F
BTW this is a required video for my college class...
Excellent exercices. Need to go slower in showing the use of tools. Could not replicate the divide tool in polygon exercise.
