The Rockies sweep the Diamondbacks to advance to the 2007 World Series against the Boston Red Sox
NLCS MVP: Matt Holliday
Thanks @espn - Спорт
To date this remains the Rockies only NL pennant.
To date, this remains the last all NL West NLCS.
Rocktober!
This 07 Rockies line up was nasty yo had 3 guys wit 100 rbis crazy
First, my Mets collapse and miss the playoffs entirely. And now Kaz Matsui, who sucked with them, is going to the World Series. Could things get any worse?
Who knows if the Rockies will ever win a pennant again, especially under their current ownership.
But their fans will always have this moment to look back on.
And sweeping my Texas Rangers, the reigning MLB World Champs.
1:46 further evidence that the Chase Utley slide rule existed well before his incident in 2015.
This 2007 playoff series has been kinda bad. Sweeps, sweeps, sweeps, and more sweeps. The NL sends the Rockies as tribute for the Fall Classic...in another sweep. Can they do it again in the world series vs the "Best team In Baseball"?
Only 28 of a possible 41 games, only 1 of the 7 series went the distance and 5 of the 7 resulted in sweeps.
After the peak of 2003 and 2004, we were due for a valley.. but not THIS
Rockies are now 21-1 in their last 22 games after sweeping Arizona. WOW!!!!!!!
Rockies only loss was against Arizona on September 28 in Colorado.
I think the most impressive part of the Rockies 21-1 run is that they didnt lose a road game.
What also made this streak amazing was that all the 21 wins were against teams with winning records / postseason teams. Their only win against a team with a non-winning-record was against the Marlins (which was the first game of the 21-1 streak), and even the 2007 Marlins were a competitive team in 2007 despite their losing record.
There was a lot of controversy entering that series about Clint Hurdle playing Willy Tavares.
Ended up proving to be the right move in Game 2, where he made an amazing diving catch to save the game and rob Tony Clark and then drove in the winning run with a walk in the 11th.
What a HORRENDOUS first season for TBS postseason baseball.
- They only got one tie-breaking game, when they could have had like six tie-breaking-games after game 162, to decide the NL East, NL Central, NL West, NL Wild Card. Given, the tie-breaking-game they got was a very spicy one with the Rockies-Padres.
- The Mets didn’t make the postseason.
- Cubs got swept in the Division Series, so no NLCS with the Cubs trying to break their Pennant-Goat-Curse-Drought.
- Phillies-Cubs possible NLCS would have given them good ratings, but that didn’t happen since they both got swept in the Division Series.
- Three sweeps in the division series, and the other one ended in four games, so no deciding game 5 in any of the four Division Series.
- And a sweep in the NLCS of the Rockies against the DBACKS
All this on top of the end of their long association with the Atlanta Braves
@@chrisuncleahmadI guess this was karma for trading the Atlanta Braves for a national package of games.
5:56 What a horrendous mental error by the Arizona runner in game 2 in the bottom of the 9th inning, WOW
I remember that. Stephen Drew thought he was out even though the umpire clearly called him safe because Tulo was off the bag.
Rocktober run continues.
Last playoff series win for the Rockies until 2018.
The Wild Card Game is not a "series"
@@EvanEscher bullshit it ain't if it's win or go home it doesn't matter how many games are in it it's a series!
The Rockies' only NL pennant to date.
This was Jose Valverde final season with Arizona, as he will be traded to the Astros in the offseason
Rockies sure caused nightmares in September-October 2007 to their NL West division rivals during their 21-1 Rocktober run:
- Rockies took out their division rivals Padres in game 163, and the Rockies went 6-1 in September/October against the Padres, including winning game 163, including winning the last 5 games against them.
- Rockies were also one of the reasons why the division rival Dodgers stumbled in September and didn’t make the postseason, as the Rockies went 7-0 against the Dodgers in their September surge.
- And now the Rockies take out their division rivals Arizona in the NLCS in a 4-game-sweep.
