Here's the thing, the reason a lot of us Style-Heads have so much hate for Shoes like Samba's or panda dunks is because this is the first time in history where there's so much sameness. 5 years ago you could walk out the house or look online and see so many different aesthetics, all of which added to you being an individual and also allowing you to draw inspiration from things you were never into. Now, you leave the house (NYC 4 Me) or look online (Fun fact, if I'm searching for any outfit based on a particular sneaker on Pinterest, all I get is maybe a couple PNG images of said sneaker, some guy in loafers, and several adds for the Adidas sambas, gazelles, or spezials) and I honest to God know that sambas (white & black) are the most worn shoe out here. and it's not the same as Vans, (an entire sneaker brand with several shapes and sizes, colors and models that had to work it's way into fashion culture for over 30 years) or Air force ones (An actual classic that's been around before for 40 years, and even with it's popularity still wasn't over-worn), but it's one shoe, from one brand, in maybe 7 colors that are actually being worn. That is what is singlehandedly ruining the fashion. (In nature they call it "Lack of Biodiversity" and it's known to wipe out entire ecosystems) Iris Apfel (1921-2024) was quoted nearly 10 years ago saying "Everything's so homogenized now, there's so much sameness, I hate it." and If the God-Mother of modern Personal Style said that in 2015, imagine what she would think now. In conclusion, the feeling you feel is perfectly normal and if I were you I'd keep on browsing, because the truth is; The big sneaker brands have some of the sickest sneakers that they would much more rather you buy (Air Max DN, Puma Trippy Suede, Adidas 4D Fusio, Jordan MVP, Converse CONS-AS 1, the list goes on for ages) Frugal has been talking about the same 7 shoes for the past 3 years...I think it's time to realize that he's the problem, not you.

ive been wearing off white gazelles for abt two years but thrifted them years ago. it has been throwing me off to see the sambas blowing up ngl but i still fw my shoe. it does help that i havent seen anybody wearing the same pair
I've had my sambas for 3-4 years and its still almost perfect! I even workout in them or play basketball in them. One time someone jokingly said I'd ruin my Sambas playing basketball but I love them(might be my fave) and I have like almost a dozen shoes.
I've spent the past few months going to sneaker stores, staring at the walls contemplating just to go back to vans. Not that I don't like the shoes that are out they just don't fit my style. I strongly suggest getting an in person feel of things instead of relying on feeds.
I've owned like 20 pairs of vans, I started wearing them after (after DC's) when I saw my older brother and his friends skating in them back in 2012. My signature style was shorts, decorative socks, and a super gnarly pair of vans in whatever print or color. That stayed the same until I moved to Barbados in 2020 abruptly. To keep it brief...there's really no access to anything name-brand out there without severe taxes, so I held off on buying shoes and would only buy another pair of vans During my 1st visit back to the US When I moved back to the US (NYC) last year, I noticed something had changed. All of a sudden there were a lot of new sneakers people were wearing, I was excited...until I realized that for some reason, everyone was wearing THE EXACT SAME THING. I remember getting into the idea of Sambas until I immediately snapped out of it because I realized that everyone wanted to fit in. I didn't see Pumas, I didn't see Vans, I didn't even see Converse or Nike's extensive catalog of sneakers other than Dunks. All. I saw. Was Sambas (and some NB and Asics sprinkled in). People like Frugal, Dessaint, and Drew Joiner have been force feeding us the same 7 shoes for the past what...3 years now?! So my advice to you is follow your gut. You like to maintain your individuality. Sneaker stores are trying to survive buy only selling the trendiest sneakers. Download stock X and do a deep dive on rather "niche" sneakers from big brands (Adidas, Puma, Air Max, Converse, etc) and I guarentee you'll find a sneaker you actually like. cheers m8!
Honestly, my flat feet are loving the samba. Basic ones, white and black. I have a pretty peculiar style: casual but colorful and basic shapes. Jeans/pants, a white t-shirt and a color block cardigan. All fitted to be good fitting. I was looking for a shoe that would work out with the majority of my guardarobe and Adidas samba seems to be the thing. I found it also very comfy,
I waited 6 months before I bought sambas to see if it was the trend or if I actually liked how they looked, realised I actually liked them, been wearing them every day for the past maybe 6 months every day, they're getting some nice wear on them, they're comfy, wear whatever the fuck you want guys it's not that hard
What I hate is that most of these in vogue shoes weren't in for so long which just makes you wonder if this is actually just a new version of hypebeasting instead of actually liking something.
I need a comfortable walking shoe right now but everything is so played out and boring to me. But also I just don’t think sneakers fit my style at all so it’s even worse. I got a pair of new balance 1903’s and I’m returning them because they just don’t feel right even though I didn’t mind them in store. I feel like I’m too picky now.
I won't even lie. I don't typically care about whether a shoe is "played out," especially as a suit guy who's pretty much always in loafers. But even though I honestly think the Sambas don't even look half bad, the reason why they feel so soulless is because we just came off a year or two STRAIGHT of every other video on our feeds being some tiktoker in a cropped jersey / tee / white and blue striped collared shirt with comically oversized telling us we absolutely HAVE to get these shoes if we want to look cool. It's the most cooked trend of all time. It feels like no one even wore them because they liked them, but because everyone ELSE was making content about them, so xyz person needed to cash in on the trend and buy them to do the same exact thing. For a community that claims self expression is a huge part of the appeal, I've seen very little evidence of it. I honestly never would have bought any of the "it" shoes, bc literally none of them have ever appealed to me. But I never got nauseous looking at Panda Dunks the way I do looking at Sambas. Bc dunks didn't feel so totally astroturfed.
Gray leather look capri’s are my daily shoes for months now, still look the same but feel even better in the foot. Despite being the best quality basic shoe I’ve ever had, it also makes all my standard “billboard” branded shoes that are full of color to be more cool/unique when I get the feeling to wear them.
how i buy clothes: 1: i find a design i like 2: i buy it if i have enough 3: i try to pair it with other clothes i like to get the best out of it. thats it. dont worry about trends, do what YOU want. your confidence will do a lot of heavy lifting. fashion is subjective, so dont worry about what others think. wear what you like/what you think looks good.
Only buy pieces you absolutely love & less is more. A wardrobe made of 20 items you adore that work together will always be better for you than 100 you feel meh towards. Go for special editions/cool colorways. I love air force 1s but the white ones are too basic for me. Got myself the white billie eilish 1s and whenever I rock them I feel awesome and never saw anybody else with them.
I can't wait for Sambas to be played out! I miss the days when you could buy one of those for the same amount as a two packs of cigarettes and a redbull can!
I just bought the same shoe in 4 colors, and one of them is a mid high instead of a low shoe. I have now purchased the same shoe 7 times. I can't find anything that is interesting to me, so I just buy these comfy ass shoes that go with everything.
From my perspective, it’s more so of the people that go for these shoes, yet complain about other popular shoes (mainly Jordans) being overrated, over saturated, overhyped, the same shoe every year, etc. To an extent, they’re right; but Sambas, AF1’s and other similar sneakers can arguably be considered just as overrated or over saturated(if not more) as Jordan’s, Iversons, etc.

To keep it brief...there's really no access to anything name-brand out there without severe taxes, so I held off on buying shoes and would only buy another pair of vans During my 1st visit back to the US
When I moved back to the US (NYC) last year, I noticed something had changed.
"Whatever the f*gunshot* the last eight minutes has been"
dog you said this deadass perfectly at 8:00
Bruh that Neumann mic is fucking hot. Appreciate the audio quality of your videos, much love
I ended up getting myself a pair of Adidas free hiker shoes as my daily drivers & i can never go back to anything else
What I hate is that most of these in vogue shoes weren't in for so long which just makes you wonder if this is actually just a new version of hypebeasting instead of actually liking something.
I just be wearing bapestas and sk8stas, I love nigo and will gladly cop bapes whenever they drop nice colourways, I LOVE BAPESTAS 💯
overthinking fashion is the new fit inspo collage
I need a comfortable walking shoe right now but everything is so played out and boring to me. But also I just don’t think sneakers fit my style at all so it’s even worse. I got a pair of new balance 1903’s and I’m returning them because they just don’t feel right even though I didn’t mind them in store. I feel like I’m too picky now.
i run samba (super) for a decade now, and I don't care. They're comfy, good for many activities, good for driving, made of proper leather and cheap
I finally ordered them yesterday and this video popped up up. lol I don’t know how to feel about.
It has never been easier to find a good shoe right now. You can buy almost any style any color in stock in any size for like $200 or less.
vintage Italian leather sneakers are my go to choice right now. You get the trending gat, tiger, goose etc. silhouette with loads of Personality
Despite being the best quality basic shoe I’ve ever had, it also makes all my standard “billboard” branded shoes that are full of color to be more cool/unique when I get the feeling to wear them.
how i buy clothes:
1: i find a design i like
2: i buy it if i have enough
3: i try to pair it with other clothes i like to get the best out of it.
thats it. dont worry about trends, do what YOU want. your confidence will do a lot of heavy lifting. fashion is subjective, so dont worry about what others think. wear what you like/what you think looks good.
As someone who left the dati-I mean sneaker scene in 2019 I feel like I caught the last flight out of ‘nam
just questioned my entire life, and if I should ever wear sambas again... still gonna wear sambas tho (the wales bonner sambas are GOATED)
feeling called out right now. Will just buy what I actually want regardless if a billion people are wearing it 😭😭
I really loved wearing sambas. But since everyone has them, I don't like wearing them anymore
2:28 I think he has lowkey been learning a thing or two about philosophy and ideology and it's showing in his humor
I start to believe that these higher concept fashion philosophys are always build on the Squarespace Sponsoring foundation.
I can't wait for Sambas to be played out! I miss the days when you could buy one of those for the same amount as a two packs of cigarettes and a redbull can!
so anyone gonna talk about how the last three videos bluds posted have been YAP
I'm all here for the yapping
last three? are you sure
I love it ❤
Vans with holes in them that I tried to sow a couple times thats the freaking vibe
I just bought the same shoe in 4 colors, and one of them is a mid high instead of a low shoe. I have now purchased the same shoe 7 times. I can't find anything that is interesting to me, so I just buy these comfy ass shoes that go with everything.
that 4th rule is valid. i need to be good when shit goes down
Every time I put on some Birks I’m hoping it’s not the end of times 2 hours after I step out
lmaoooo
At least you’ll have that shit on tho when shit goes south
still loving my continental 80s, they took my sambas when they made em popular, I've been wearing those since 2017
ima just stick to chuck70s and oxfords and hoard colors, have worked for more than 10 years for me
sambas were my middle school shoes...hard to revive to middle school drip
From my perspective, it’s more so of the people that go for these shoes, yet complain about other popular shoes (mainly Jordans) being overrated, over saturated, overhyped, the same shoe every year, etc. To an extent, they’re right; but Sambas, AF1’s and other similar sneakers can arguably be considered just as overrated or over saturated(if not more) as Jordan’s, Iversons, etc.
