I remember the 2002 Rhythm & Movement idents when I was a child, and my favorites were "Festival", "Hip-Hop", "Ballet", "Massai", "Tap Dogs", "Tumbler" and the Christmas ones (with the British kids).
As I was born in 2003, these are the earliest BBC One idents I can remember. I remember watching the montage at the age of three before the Circles look was introduced.
As born in 2001, hip hop is the first ident I can remember... I also remember when Peter Kay parodied it. And, hey, exchange, I remember that intro too
Mixed feelings about this ident package, but on the whole I liked it. If I were commissioning a new set of idents for BBC One at the time I'd have been extremely shy about the idea of ditching the globe. But I think the balloon was the peak of the globe concept, so it would have been hard to make a natural progression from that point. For me, the rhythm and movement package worked well. It modernised the channel, had continuity between each ident with the prominent red colour scheme, and gave each programme a good lead-in by setting the mood. I've always hated those box idents though. But I think in this instance it worked fairly well. I know these idents were not very popular, but I thought they were okay. Certainly better than the garbage Oneness idents we have now... ...Oh, I'll save that for the right occasion.
The first ident i ever remember is a bunch of hippos swimming in a circle on the bbc , and i also remember for the start of one of the series of dr who there was that hippo circle ident but the tardis’s shadow is seen over the water
The Minack Theatre in Cornwall is still there today and my mum went there in around 2001, a year before the BBC One "Globe" idents were replaced with "Rhythm and Movement". Good place to put an ident for: Funerals, Deaths, Closedowns and Handovers to BBC News 24.
The Theatre from the Ballet ident is the Minack Theatre. Its still there and is still hosting events to this day. I've been (not for a show though) and it was a very nice little venue. Very hard to get to though. The road in is very narrow
The "Tap Dogs" ident was the most energetic and lively of all the Rhythm and Movement era idents. The music was upbeat and the people in the ident were full of positive energy. That was my favourite of the entire set.
I was born in 2003, & I still remember these idents fairly well! I even remember being hyped for the rebrand, as I am autistic & I had a fairly singular fixation on brands, logos & idents as a toddler.
I distinctly remember the circle set from my childhood. Although my family mainly watched itv, who have the boring af indents. Channel 4's Simpsons 7pm ident is the best ident
Why can't I find a playlist of this series so far. Unless I'm just, like, blind, there doesn't seem to be one on the channel. I really like the idea of this series and just had to scroll back through 4 years of content to start from the start.

@@AdamMartyn Ah, nice. Much appreciated. My eyes must've skimmed past it while looking or something. I like these analyses of an underappreciated part of TV.
Why'd you have to terrify me with a shot of test card F?! 😨 That thing scared the bejeesus out of me as a kid! I was never too keen on this ident set - it didn't really seem to say much about BBC One's identity, which is a bit of a problem. I did like Hip Hop though.

Skateboarder's music is very emotive. Love it. And love how diverse the idents were, too.

Ballet was filmed at the Minack Theatre, Porthcurno. It's still going strong.

Betaman so you are Born in 2001 where Channel 4 has launched E4? Wow! I wasn’t born in 2001.

That particular set was circles

Happy 20th Anniversary to the BBC 1 Rhythm & Movement Set!!

The Capoeira remains my favourite - most hypnotic.
I loved the acrobats one and the ballet as a kid. The always showed the acrobat one before eastenders
These idents are very nostalgic to me.

Did anyone catch the Test Card F Duo at the end
Do you know why they only used a still image for the death announcement of the Queen Mother?
I think Ballet should be brought for when the Duke of Edinburgh and Her Majesty die
The only one I remember from this era is the Hip Hop ident.
I love the red and black some of the people were wearing
Good video.
Cool

@@joshuaaaron125 same my friend, the fear is real!!! 😂
For The Next Episode Do 2004 Channel 4 Idents!
Of course Ade is still around now, as a bigger name
The least popular BBC One idents ever (until the current ones) and I believe the shortest lived?
You missed more than half of the set. Come on!
ccateni 28 the title of the video does say 'A Selection' - implying not all of them would be covered
