Fun Facts for those who don't know. J.Cole is j-Hopes biggest influence/inspiration and muse. JHopes album "HOPE WORLD" is a play on J.Coles first album "Cole World". The BTS song "Born Singer" is also a play on J.Coles song "Born Sinner". The Avirex fit hobi is wearing is also homage to J.Cole. The street Hobi was on at the beginning is the SAME EXACT street J.Cole filmed his "SIMBA" music video on. And hobi dancing during Coles verse is because hobi before BTS used to dance to J.Cole songs back in the day.. The visual easter eggs and homage paid to J.Cole in this by hobi is insane. Shows his genuine love for a GOAT like J.Cole. This whole collab is legendary and will be cemented in history forever.. This a big W for Kpop and HipHop.
When I saw that JCole and the little boy were dressed the same. 😪 The symbolism in this song/MV is truly top tier. 💜 And thank you for the Korean lyric breakdown!!
We totally missed that!! Now were thinking that kid is jhope wanting to be like jcole and jhope giving his younger self advice and the ‘present jhope’ and jcole end up meeting at the end at the top😭 love all the symbolisms!
j-hope in MORE: "my work makes me breath so I want more" J.Cole in #on_the_street: "I have a strange type of hunger the more I eat the more it gets stronger" No wonder they collab, not only both insanely talented but also see their art & job in same way
J-Cole used to come to Temple University's on-campus bar to perform for free on the weekends when I was a student there around 2010-2011. I have talked to him many times because he used to ask questions to the students to hear their stories and struggles. If he resonated with any of those stories he used to somehow incorporate that in his lyrics. He may not remember any of us anymore but I am so proud of him.
This was one of the best explanations that I’ve seen esp for ppl who dnt know cole or his pen stroke. And weren’t there rumors of BTS dismantling, so that would line up with both of them passing the crown but also in Jhope’s dance he took the crown. Also, the gotta let her grow line applies to Jhope cuz he has to leave and do his military time so his fans have to let him grow and go.
I find the song named "On the street" is so deep too cuz Hip Hop is a Street Culture and Hip Hop is most important thing in their life And they shoot the MV in New York Hip Hop is originated in New York at early 1970
Ah hearing the explained lyrics made me tear up. Thanks for another fun reaction. This was the most perfect collab and send off from Hobi. I hope this becomes a more regular thing for western artists and k pop with bridging the gap. 💕💜
This collaboration was crazyyy! Being a fan of hip hop and k-pop growing up, this felt like two different worlds colliding. Couldn’t be happier for J-Hope getting to collaborate and create with his idol. J. Cole is a legend and he absolutely killed it 🔥 I’m definitely going to have this on repeat for awhile. Love the reaction as always! ❤
J Cole is definitely keeping hip hop in America because he knows exactly how to utilize his voice and lyricism to make a difference with his delivery and Cadence
BTS literally saved my life with their art, there's no way I'll ever forget those 7 hilarious angels. Never! I'm in this Bangtan Sonyeondan life forever! 💜
Our hearts swell for Hobi. What a beautiful tribute to his idol, J Cole 🔥 and can we talk about J Cole…❤️🔥 Of course J Cole is J Hope’s idol. Of course. EDIT: OOOOOH J in the Air! Thank you for your lyric breakdowns AS ALWAYS. I’ll recommend J Cole fans to come here to hear you guys breaking down J Hope’s Korean lyrics!!
thank you for your reactions where you explain the lyrics to us! much appreciated! and yes the kid can represent the future and also army bc jin before he went to the military, his astronaut video also had a kid where jin waved goodbye too. but wow it is so special that j.cole who j-hope looked up to collabed with each other. it just felt like both are flowing and talking about their philosophies and i love that! so amazing! honestly i appreciate you guys actually talking about j.cole's verses too referencing God. so much passion in a song. such an inspiring song too!
J-Hope is using a lot of intentional symbolism in this video (the side street and intersection from what I understand is inspired by an early J.Cole video, the subway corresponds with JColes bars and the subway stop that inspired Jay Zs moniker, the journey through the streets, through the underground and to the pinnacle (rooftop) where he can finally meet up with his inspiration. He started as an underground hip hop street dancer (thus the underground scene) inspired by the Culture, and has always claimed JCole as a Muse and major inspiration...that's why he gave him 32 bars and danced while he rapped...he came full circle while also leaving this gift for his fans and paying homage to HIS OWN IDOL. DOPE
such a proud moment i was smiling but on the brink of crying the whole time, on the description they released when they announced jhope will release on the street, they mentioned how he will show us his roots=where he started, when he entered the subway station=underground then J.Cole's verse began and then hobi started dancing that's what they meant 😭 hobi started as an underground dancer and on the streets, dancing to J.Cole, and now he's showing all of us, this is where I started and this is how far I've reached, from dancing to J.Cole's songs as a dreamer to dancing in his OWN song WITH J.Cole himself 😭🤙
looks deja vu, scene Jhope again around the capital, meeting with small children reminds me of The Astronaut MV, the scene is near the railroad tracks reminds me of Danger MV, Jhope took the train, reminds me of Spring Day MV & Yet to Come MV
I'm 58 yrs & may not always understand the meaning of what the artist is trying to say. Thank you for the explanation because I've only heard negativity on Twitter. They weren't real J-Hope fans. Beautiful song from a beautiful young man. You'll be missed but not forgotten. ❤️💜💙🇺🇲
Thank you for exploring the Korean translation. I have been learning a lot from all these different reviews but I really appreciate your input on the Korean verse. All the best Andy & Jas! 💜
This was so interesting, thanks so much for the breakdown!! I loved J-Hope’s line about watching us from afar… in addition to everything you said, since he’s entering the military soon, I took it to mean he’ll still be with us even then, when he’s out of the public eye… so he’s never truly gone. Also, J-Cole’s line about the cow jumping over the moon is from a famous nursery rhyme by Mother Goose: “Hey, Diddle, diddle, The cat and the fiddle, The cow jumped over the moon; the little dog laughed, To see such sport, And the dish ran away with the spoon!” In that way, he was addressing the retirement rumors by taking something nonsensical and giving it real meaning. So in a way, from both their lyrics, it was hinting at a possible/temporary goodbye. But while J-Hope’s is temporary, J-Cole is debating stepping down and handing over his crown… but every time he’s tempted, he’s got this hunger inside (like J-Hope in MORE) that keeps pushing him to continue on. This song is so much deeper than people give it credit for!! I’m so glad you both explored it!!
..i sense J Hope's passion in doing this video...J Cole seems to be a legend in hip hop nowadays..both of them form a wonderful collaboration...this video is celestial, artistically speaking. J hope's dancing is also extraordinary..it reminds me of the film Dancing in the Rain with Gene Kelly. The meeting between the 2 worlds is amazingly enriching.
So this was a gift to army before going to military. When I watched this that’s what I had in mind. When he says he with us from afar, I thought he talking about when he in military he still loving and hoping for army. I also thought when J Cole was talking about letting his daughter go, it was also a metaphor for army letting Jhope go to the military. Just my thoughts…. Thanks always for your great reaction and insights.
The kid, in the beginning, represents his fans. Because this is his farewell song before enlistment, he's saying goodbye for now. It's riddled with deep meaning. I'm curious about the multiple possible meanings of the memorial in the alley
Thank you for taking the time with the lyrics. I love your take on it. So much meaning for both artists' verses. What a beautiful collab. Jhope starting from the street, dancing in the underground and climbing up the steps until reaching the roof with his idol, greeting him like an equal artist. Legend.
When I heard the “y’all see a top 10 list I see a golden coral” I immediately thought about how there was just a “hip-hop top 10 list” that went around a few weeks ago and Cole wasn’t on it. Even I was like “how tf??” So I feel as though it was a diss to the ppl who made the list and how he’s colder than 90% of the ppl that were on that list
Your guys reactions is the best on RUclips!🔥 And thank you so much for the breakdown on the lyrics and translations❤️ do you guys not have more video reaction by j hope solo songs like More or Arson? because i will love to see that but i can’t find it on your guys channel

j-hope in MORE: "my work makes me breath so I want more"

that is so cool, he sounds like such a kind soul, a humble guy
I think 'J in the air' is also about J.Cole, as his idol and person he looks up to, being on top when Hoseok started
You see a top ten list, I see a golden corral. That bars eat the whole song like a buffet. 🔥🔥

I really hope that J.Cole won't stop doing music anytime soon. His lyrics are so soothing & so thought-provoking.
This collab was everything.

Thanks for putting more colour to jhope’s lyrics. It was helpful to know how Koreans refer to shoes and tying it to the two feet
