When your gearbox cycles one of the processes that occurs is that your tappet plate is pulled back which also pulls back the nozzle allowing a new bb to enter the chamber. In high speed builds the chamber may not stay open long enough to allow that bb to enter and be seated properly because the gears are moving so fast. A delayer clip extends the amount of time the tappet plate is pulled back and gives the bb extra time to enter the chamber.
