ABOUT ME
I’m 30 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RUclips and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Dear Cammy, you tear at my heart when you say it was your fault losing lambs. God only gave us 24 hours a day. You can not be at every place the ewes are lambing. For me, you are doing a fantastic job. No one should say a word to you. You love and respect those ewes and lambs. God bless you and yours always.
❤&🙏 from 🇺🇸 🙋
Thanks, we can only do our best 👍
Cammy and Sandi are hard on themselves, while we fans are just amazed at what they accomplish!
Best thing to watch the last 10 days educational and no hiding bad parts
Thanks Jonny, plenty of ups and downs in farming, so try to be realistic and show it all.
you dont need to do everything the same as someone else, i watch sandy for how she does it but i watch you because i think how you do it shows a completely different perspective because sandy doesnt have outdoor sheep that are wild and how you work meg and the other dogs is amazing to watch, dont stress the little things. you keep being you cos thats what were here for.
love how you include the little kids yesterday and now help this young lady who wants to be a vet! ... and gave her the experience of lambing.😍
Thanks Suzanne! That's what it's all about!
BRILLIANT just BRILLIANT!!!
What an education for Tia - she will thank you forever.
Thanks Jimmy, hope it got Tia some experience and she'll be keen to go on and get some more.
I just wanted to thank you for letting the youngens get stuck in and have those experiences. I used to holiday at a farm in Devon when I was growing up and I absolutely treasure the moments when I could be involved and help out! It definitely shaped me as a person and now I have a great career working with farm animals (cattle, sheep, goats and especially pigs). All thanks to the farmer who let me help out and explore when I was younger! You may just think they are helping out but it goes much further than that :)
Sounds like you had some great holidays Louise. Good to let them get stuck in when they can only learn so much from watching.
Please continue just the way you have been. Each has their own way of presenting. You have a well organized and clean operation. Love to learn from you. 🐑
Thanks Lorrie
First Sandi and now you, oh this is a good day.
I watched them back to back too! Great morning viewing
Me too. A great morning 🌄
You need to follow Sandi and Cammy on Instagram.
@@JudyHart1 yip follow both! Love it
Love your style of filming and editing, feel grateful you're doing it at all given your long long days and short short nights. Keep it up :)
Thanks very much. Makes it worth all the work when people are enjoying it!
And I am enjoying it 6 months later too! You do a great job as a Shepherd and vlogger.
Great job for the young lady, I've only ever had to inject one of my wethers and I definitely made a mountain out of a mole hill. She just went straight in no hesitation 👍 Thanks for also showing and explaining the third wee lamb, it's not all unicorn's and skittles.
Tia was definitely keen and eager to get involved which is great to see.
this was a great video to see a women learning to be a Vet and I like that very much I was born in 1930 and we didn't do all that I wanted to learn You are so great to move on in the world of life. and Lambing.. thanks. granny 90.
Been lambing sheep for more years than I care to remember and been having vet students for 20 plus years , the vast majority of the students have been female. It is very satisfying to help someone on the road to fulfilling their dreams.
i love when you're correcting yourself. Like "throw" But you mean put. Cus I'm half Scottish and I understand your slang and meanings, but love that you correct for those who aren't good at understanding the local slang and meanings.
You can't be there all the time. You win some, you lose some. But as long as you care about it, you're human and it's not your fault. In an ideal world a Shepherd would be living with their flock, but that isn't the life now. Just stay caring, that's as much as you can do. And you do care, it comes across very well. Enjoy these videos, and learning a lot about lambing. Very interesting!
I used to “throw” everything. My kids into bed , a roast in the oven, clothes in the washer . 😂
@@heatherd212 Or ''chuck''...😁
Thanks
@@ChristophersMum And Hoy too. But that was more meant to be chucking it. Hoy it in the cupboard out of the way :D
I'm not so sure that "throw" is only a Scottish term; I've been guilty of asking my husband to "throw" the kids into the back seat when we were getting to leave and I'm American!
Wasn't Tia amazing, she must have been really made up to have been able to lamb that ewe. Your bedside manner is wonderful, I love that you talk to your ewes so kindly. Great video.
She was great, first time and got stuck right in 👍
This is wonderful, Sandi sheared today and you have 3 little black lambs. This old spinner is drooling to get some wool going now. 😂🤣😂
Well done the young lady, getting straight in there with no hesitation.
She was great Paul, so keen for her first time.
Just watched the Midwestern Hoof Trimmer. He mentioned having a compilation with you and watching your channel. This is the first time I’ve watched your channel. Just subscribed. It’s amazing watching you with your sheep. Tia has a good teacher for the few days she will be there.
Now my down time is full of cows and sheep. Watching the Midwestern Hoof Trimmer, the Hoof GP, and you. Much better then any movies or tv shows.
Cammy, during this crazy virus, I spend most of my time watching You Tube. When I get up I watch you and Sandi Brock raise your sheep family. You know that many Americans claims their ancestry to the Scots and Irish. I have so many Scottish names in my ancestry and I am very proud of that. Keep up the wonderful work. I have learned a lot.
Thanks Veneta!! I hear that a lot and it’s fascinating how we’re all linked.! Hope ur keeping safe!
Excellent video with the explanations like Sandi! Loved your talks with Tia. Great work on camera, Vicky! Lol.
Thanks Melanie, a great team I have 😊
Love the hair blowing in the wind!
Cammy, you're doing a great job with the videos! We understand (even better now) that lambing is a hectic, up and down, sleep deprived season, and I think you're doing an amazing job to keep all the plates spinning, so to speak. You've got lots of beautiful little lambs and a fair few success stories, and you obviously know and love your sheep. You've every right to be proud of them, and yourself, and your helpers this year. I'm thoroughly enjoying being there with you for 30/40 minutes a day: in another life I'd be getting stuck in and working hard myself! I'm sending a big "Thank You!!" to all your helpers and to you -- and we're not finished yet! 😊😊😊😊
Awesome video. Great to see young people so interested in farming. Those little black triplest are adorable. Those 2 that were almost dead made such an amazing recovery. Great job. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Thanks Alice, we nearly put the black triplets out all together but we decided against it and one of them is now with a jacob ewe.
Sandi does a great job with her ewes and lambs and that’s her system. You are doing an excellent job with your sheep and lambs with your own system. The way the two of you farm are not apples to apples. I think you have your hands full with the outdoor fields. What both of you do is blame yourselves for lambs or sheep dying. You both must constantly remind yourself that nature is nature and only God can intervene. If the mistake isn’t supposed to happen then God would have placed you where you were meant to be. I love how you both investigate every incident and try to learn from it. It makes you professionals and I have great respect for both of you.
You are doing an awesome job. Farming what ever you is a tough job. You care so much. It is great of you to help others learn the trade. It is never easy. You have to be there no matter how you feel or the blooming weather. Bless your wonderful heart. I enjoy how you farm,,same with how Sandi Brock , husband Mark and Jess farm. They all pool together to get the job done.
Thanks, it's is definitely a way of life that you need to love to stick at it.
Aaron Lavoy sent me and I'm so glad he did.
Thanks Cameron! Awesomeness to include Scotswomen in beautiful Scottish sheep ranching!
Great job Tia! That’s some experience for her!
great to see a young person having that experience. Good for you to tell us so much about The Sheep Game. Great hair, man!🦌💌🇨🇦🐑☕️🐝🇨🇦🙏
Thanks, great when young people are keen to learn and get stuck in 👍
I enjoy the way you put together the your lambing videos. They don't feel chaotic to me at all. I feel like they give a good representation of what it feels like during birthing season. I have my own sheep and I still enjoy watching your videos. I appreciate how you follow up with the previous days lambing and give us viewers and update. Your helpers have all been great but Kudos to Tia for getting right in there, she did a great job.
You are doing awesome
No worries
Some confusion on videos are real life
Thanks Kay
Kammy thanks for sharing I enjoy the sheep births
Great video with detailed explanations about what you are seeing and hearing especially when you are working so busy. Congratulations for Tia getting in on the practical aspects so quickly as well and at the end excellent camera work by Vicki.
Thanks Dan, very kind!
Brilliant video, really enjoying them. Really glad Tia got to lamb her first lamb, well done! Sorry you lost the two lambs, but glad there’s more healthy ones. 👍
Thanks Alex
A shame that the last baby couldn’t make it. Love your channel!❤❤❤
Good explanations on the lambs that didn't make it.
Great video as always. I love how you include everyone in your videos. Those wee black lambs are lovely.
Good job, Tia! I remember the first time I farrowed pigs. So exhilarating! Though the piglets didn't need much help as I recall. Ewes seem to be much more attentive mothers.
Cheers!👍
Trucks and canopies gotta love 'em! We have moved piglets, lambs, ewes, lambs and ewes, and turkeys in ours.
It’s nice to see your sheep out in the paddock, natural air and sun with exercise. Sadly Sandi’s never see a scrap of sunlight.
You have to look at if from the sheep’s perspective.
Her sheep are never cold, hungry, wet, subject to liver fluke or resistant worms.
Mine get all that... and some snow to deal with.
They have a pretty great life with Sandi!
Great video. So many lovely lambs. Terrific experience for the future young vet. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Donna
Great work Cammy and Tia!!! Your editing is very smooth, doesn't feel choppy at all!!! As many irons as you have in the fire, I'm amazed that you know whether you are coming or going!!! Anytime you give your best at a job you are a success!!!! Stay safe Cammy!!!! Best of luck in the coming days!!!!
Great Job Cammy!!!!
Cheers Keith
Can't believe how much I'm learning. I hope someday to have a few hobby sheep, watching these videos makes me think I might actually be able to do it.
Way to go, Tia! I remember helping goats kid and doing something similar.
Also the Jacob crosses are just my favs. I love seeing them!
Some cracking lambs you have...even triplets are a good size, team effort, well done all.
Thanks Margaret, really pleased on the whole with how the lambs have turned out so far 👍
love the camera work! So much fun to watch and learn too.
Thanks Debra, glad you're enjoying the vlogs 👍
Cammy your are a great mentor. Tia is going to make an awesome vet.
Vicky is great at lambing and videos.
Each vlog is an education in being a good Shepherd . Thanks.
Thanks Roanld, we wish Tia all the best of luck in the future.
Your videos just keep getting better. Thank you for sharing your life.
Cami I love Sandi. I watch her all the time. But I like your videos too. It’s harder for you. Your sheep are all over the place hers are all in one place in a barn so easier to keep an eye on. I think you both do a lot to educate people different ways and how they work
Your video are just right. Keep going Cammy
Thanks Alastair
I'm still a few months out from lambing so I love watching these videos!
Great work Cammy and gang. Looking forward to sitting down some day to watch Lambing 2021 box set 🤗🐑🤗🐑
Brilliant video, well done Tia, 👌
I absolutely love the little lambs, love when they call mum. (from Kentucky)
Keep up the good work Cammy 🤗
Thanks Anneta
I wouldn't worry a great deal about matching your style to anyone else. You're doing a fantastic job covering the goings on as you get through the day. Thanks for expelling what a gemmer or is it Gemmma is, didn't know what it meant when you'd mentioned it.
Great video keep them coming cracking ewes and lamb hope u are having a good lambing unfortunately mine is the worst one in 11 years all the best from Devon
Sorry to hear that...what has been the main issue for you?...hi from Perthshire
Thanks Ryan, we are having a good lambing, sorry to hear that you're having a pretty tough one , hope it picks up for you or that its not far from being over.
@@TheSheepGame yeah near the end now its as if they know their expensive this year but then sheep are sheep they don't need any excuse do they 😉
@@ChristophersMum lots really just all in the same year ewes had a hard winter down here wet all the time I lamb indoors because I have to so you see everything which is depressing but there's a flip side I suppose just the normal really a few lied on and I'll be honest one or two I should have done better als a few more ewes than I would like but maybe next year will be a bumper year thanks for asking
Hi .Cammy, this lambs are coming fast! Don’t worry about comparing yourself to Sandi, you should do YOU, because you do it fine. I’m so happy to see that you give a chance to a young woman who wants to be a Vet! Good for her and good for you for giving her the chance. Good luck with the rest of the lambing.❤️❤️👍🤞🐑
Sandip in Canada recommended your channel. Love your work with the young girl.
You're doing just fine on your videos! I'm really enjoying learning about sheep farming.
Thanks Karen & John
I love the black lambs and yes! I found you through Sandi! I love love Sandi too!
Well done Tia for getting straight in there love
It was Sandi that recommended your channel so here I am following you, and am enjoying that your out in the field with you sheep and lambs. I do love Sandi's channel and shows another way of rearing animals. Just love the accent.
It is so good of you to let someone learn hands on.
It's good for me to have an extra pair of hands also!
Just a suggestion, Sandi has a little hand held device that allows you to milk your ewes that she uses to feed her lambs when the Mother's have multiple lambs. You might find it useful to ensure your lambs get a good start!
Stay well!!
Are all sheep people such hard workers, you and Sandi wear me out!!
I’ve got a friend with one Colleen! Might borrow it! 😁
Watching that third little lamb be born was terrifying but beautiful. I'm so ama4zed at how that happened. I love your lambs, Cammy. I'm so happy they're doing so well!
Good vid again 👍
I know how busy lambing can be never Mind making daily vlogs 👌
The midwestern hoof trimmer sent me. Beautiful animals.
Life can very hard at times. Good job Cammie thanks for taking us along.
Well done Tia getting stuck in and your care and enthusiasm is so good both for the sheep and to help Tia. Your presenting is great, and it conveys how busy you are with so much to do! Loved the little black triplets particularly but all the lambs are so cute. Are cheviots wild by nature or just because they need less intervention so don't get the handling necessarily? Either way, you're doing a brilliant job and these videos are something I look forward to.
You do a fantastic job on your blogs. Some others show themselves more then the lambs or sheep they are talking about. Nice to see a face once in a while but not the whole time ya talk about it. Keep up the great work.
Great videos cheers I'm watching mind twenty hours a day I'm loosing some because of Difficulty getting the lamb out you can only do your best unfortunately an having to intervene with every ewe so far.keep up the good work cheers.
You can't be everywhere at once and are doing the best you can with the setup you have. Remember not to compare yourself to others too much, because you face very different challenges. Sandi is well organized but that is easier when she has all her sheep in one place at home, but then again she has to deal with the logistical nightmare we call winter in Canada. What you both do is show up and have a wonderful attitude and are always willing to learn. Your sheep could ask for nothing more from you.
Excellent video
You’re doing great - no worries! It’s not an easy job - you love the sheep game - it shows!
Watching this reminds me of the story’s of James Herriot and lambing season. Great story’s of delivering lambs outside in the cold and rain! At least these ladies are warm and dry when they’re delivering!
Great video 👍😎
Thanks Beth
Hi cammy another video. Thank you
Loving both yours and Sandy's videos this spring. Great work Cammy!
Welcome Tia for your first experience lambing. From Toronto Canada. I enjoy watching your videos.
Sandie at Sheepishly Me sent me over gosh months ago and you both do things differently and that's why I watch your videos I really enjoy watching them
Great video. I prefer your videos over others I have seen. Great job.
Yep definitely second that
Thanks, glad you're enjoying the vlogs 👍
Really enjoying the lambing vlogs Cammy. I love how you are so kind to the mom's and babies. Feel like I'm watching that BBC series "all creatures great and small". I have the battery wireless camera's in my barn (horses) that I relied on for lambing my 4 ewes. Was really nice watching from the comfort of my bed :-) I did have 1 lamb to pull but otherwise it was all uneventful.
I do love your set up for mum and lamb.
Well done good effort all round.
Cheers
Well done again Cammy for a great video, showing the real life of farming. Also for the encouragement to the future of the industry, Tia did well in at the deep end and you helping her to swim. Is she also a Killie supporter, may need to work on that one.....
I'm here at Aaron LaVoy's behest. I enjoy BOTH you gent's channels.
I like the way the voice-to-text mangles English & makes oodles of typos!
Thanks for coming over to have a look at the channel, hope you are able to understand most of what I am saying.
@@TheSheepGame , I worked as a cashier at the fuel desk on a truck stop. Your accent is one of the easier ones I've encountered! (When I was little, my ballet teacher was from Checzloslovakia [I know I mis-spelled it! Czeszc Republic today.]) 16 years of having my ears "tuned" makes most accents the proverbial piece of cake!
The videos are grate I’m following what’s going on easy.
Thanks Sue, glad you're enjoying the vlogs 👍
Well done Tia amazing job brilliant to just get down and get on with it I’m sure you will be a brilliant vet 😻 sad about the third lamb but at least mum has the other two and wow those first triplets were huge bless mum for carrying and pushing those out
Loving the videos. Good for you letting so many get some farm experience. I've been watching too many in a row and now the voice inside my head has a Scottish accent🤪
Great Job Cami! It’s exciting to see you teaching a young woman how to lamb.
They're keeping you very busy now. You are likely sleep deprived, eh? You are so good to let Tia just jump right in there. What a trooper she is! Good lot of lambs you have. Keep up the great work!
Your vlogs are perfectly fine, Cammy. There's a lot going on, but each episode is very exciting! I like your hectic style of filming.
What a beautiful site to see a lovely little lamb being born!
Midwestern Hoof trimmer recommended your channel. Hello. Looking forward to seeing you & the sheep. B
Your vlogs are perfect the way they are, real life happening live.
I used to have schoolgirl wannabe vets for lambing experience. It was the horsey girls who pulled their weight and got into it and earned their keep. Cammy your bits of string worry me, I did have a lamb who came out with his boy scouts proficiency badge in noose knots. I know Lizzy can’t stay away, but I think we are all hoping the baby stays safe.
Girls are very good at lambing, with their instinctive mothering and caring side. Its a tough one for Lizzy when she is used to doing so much and really even now feels pretty fit and able, so I have to keep reminding her she needs to watch out for the both of them.
@@TheSheepGame it is not the fit and able, I know she is a seriously fit young lady, but the possibility of chlamydia in the sheep. I know I would forget and put a sheep in need first if I was in her position.
My favourite days were always when everything went well.
Great video again Cammy, looks like it's going quite good there thankfully
Thanks Thomas, I would say we are having one of our best lambings so far, weather has been on our side mostly and that's a big help
Your dad's leg cleek is a treasure cam lovely heirloom
Great video again. Well done Tia on delivering her first lambs. You always have to allow for a few loses but overall you having a great lambing. That lamb in the sack might even be stillborn.
Thanks James, aye have to accept a few losses when you're lambing quite a few sheep.
@@TheSheepGame the most thing that do bug me is the ones that seem like they could have been saved but you have to take it they weren't meant to be.
Love your videos
We use the word futtering here in Ireland too
Well Tia will be a wonderful Vet because she was right in there for a first lambing as if it was just natural. Not many could do that first time with no nervousness!
