i don't get why an art that's authenticated by NFT is suddenly worth millions. sure NFT certifies a digital content to be unique and authentic, but just because it's the only one, doesn't mean it's worth millions, I can create a shitty 8 bit rainbow colored poop and call it the one an only 8 bit rainbow colored poop, does it mean it's worth millions? who is paying 400k to buy it then sell it later for 1 million? sounds like pump n' dump between the rich. unless , someone really think a monkey or 8 bit rainbow is the best art in the world i guess. an art shouldn't it be judged by it's own merit, NFT or not? someone help me to understand plz

Crypto Punks where not algorithmic generated, they were just stored on blockchain. The first algorithmic on-chain generated NFT are Mooncats, in August 2017. Such an underrated project.
I think 20 years from now when governments have adopted crypto (which is inevitable), NFTs will be used for all official documents such as social security, real estate ownership, car ownership, passports, etc. NFTs will transcend collectibles.

Definitely agree on the conclusion that NFTs are here to stay. While the current hype is about their insane price point, the tech itself is going to bring the web to the next level; we just have to figure out how to get there.
I think the clear missing part of NFTs at the moment is the ability to show them off. People who buy these type of tokens will like to show them to the world at some point, but for now, it doesn't seem to be many options, other than PFP, which ultimately is a very manual process. In the future, if social networks, games and other platforms integrate or allow users to "link" or somehow show-off their NFTs... then things will blow out for sure.
