Prince was like no other. Yes this was bluesey and he did every genre you can think of. Blessed to see him live 5 times throughout his journey. The GOAT 💜
PRINCE was such a musical genius, not just in r&b or pop, but people are usually surprised that he wrote songs in other genres such as country. Such a huge loss to music when he passed. 😢
Prince ran away from home around 12, he had a rough family life. Even abused by his stepfather. I think there were a lot of personal switch ups in the lyrics to this, that made this personal to him. I always looked at this performance as him venting that night about his childhood trauma. Yes the man is right btw, Prince was way more than his pop culture hits. Prince has literally almost done of genre out there. Prince even has meditation music, classical piano work. To me he's the best to ever do it.
I have music in my veins and this was a masterpiece. Prince covered all genres of music u cannot put him in a box or category. If you have ever listened to Hendrix u wld understand how broad his guitar range is. I understand Mrs Coach. I didn't like Mozart until i sat down and truly listened. I get what she's saying. The one thing Id like her to know is Prince catalog is super vast. He left a bank sized vault full of music so there is a little bit of every genre, even just him alone on acoustic. Its ok if she doesn't get it, she will.😊
We always try to give an honest reaction while paying proper respect to the artist's talent and hard work. Mrs. Coach has a hard time with bluesy sounding stuff for some reason. Defective ears, I guess. LOL
@CoachCastTV some things need more time in process... at 17, I loved jazz and rock (as a guitarist), Blues didn't "pull me the same." I feel in live with Blues music instantly with my teachers suggested listen to "Ah Um" by Charles Mingus! But note, I'm talking Blues pure form; Blues is prominent in music essential, jazz, rock, etc. Also, this is a very unique piece. Acknowledging the need for time and space to fully appreciate something is paramount to genius, and anything really worth something can't be gotten in one go through ;) 😉 Enjoyed the reaction!!
Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece 💜 I think Mrs Coach does actually need an ear transplant 🤣 This is one that needs a few watches though because there is so much going on! I don’t know how many times I've seen this. It's simply one of the best performances ever. The way he channels his pain, being in the zone, conducting the band effortlessly…..this can be noticed on all his live performances. He conducts his bands all the way through, giving nods, arm movements, as well as vocal cues! Also conducting the audience! What makes his performances ever more impressive to think a lot is arranged on stage in the moment and improvised, according to how he hears it in his head! Just awesome unrivalled talent.
@@CoachCastTV this one is another phenomenal one …. Another fan favourite from 2009. They keep taking this performance down so this is the only one I can find. The emotion he conveys through both his voice and guitar literally gives me goosebumps! Guitar playing on another level! He’s almost on another planet, he is so much in “The Zone” ruclips.net/video/mv_C2RnnjRg/видео.htmlsi=RQN167oTxVVP5hKT
“It takes soul to identify with soul.” 😂😂😂😂😭😭💀 That’s hilarious. Aside from funk, blues is probably the genre Prince plays most. So if Mrs. Coach doesn’t like this one, she definitely wouldn’t like the VH1 performance of Prince’s song The Ride. 😂🫠 Definitely recommend that one for some more interesting guitar playing. 💜
“I still haven’t figured out what it is yet’’ I think i can help. It’s Prince. He’s kinda his own genre. 😆 😆 Don’t feel bad if you don’t connect with it the first time though. Sometimes a few listens will help!
Prince's mother walked out and left him and his family when Prince was 7 years old, so he had abandoment issues......in the song 'When Doves Cry' he wrote the line "how could you leave me alone in a world that's so cold". this was a line about his mother not a lover. 'Motherless Child' is not a Prince song, "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child", also "Motherless Child", is a traditional spiritual. It dates back to the era of slavery in the United States. There has been renditions by various artists over the years
Wikipedia: "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child", also "Motherless Child", is a traditional spiritual. It dates back to the era of slavery in the United States. An early performance of the song was in the 1870s by the Fisk Jubilee Singers.[1][2] Commonly heard during the Civil rights movement in the United States,[3] it has many variations and has been recorded widely. Who played Motherless Child at Woodstock? Richie Havens was the first act to hit the stage at the three-day 1969 Woodstock Festival. His performance of “Freedom” - based from the spiritual “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” - became an anthem.22 Apr 2013
Hi folks! I dropped in to see if this was the same "Motherless Child" that Martin Gore (Depeche Mode) covered. So, it is and it isn't. Same song, but not the same. Y'know? That's how you know a great song. It's great no matter who covers it. Love you guys!
Hey team‼️I think I’m in the middle of you 2 with this one. A slow continuous funky-delic groove. Prince was obviously a good performer & musician. Nobody will EVER top Mr Mercury for me💥crowd control, voice, range, showmanship, and a ton of songs that are still relevant today after all these years. Played everywhere ☝️
Prince is not the greatest performer. He is one of a number of great performers. If you had put in your opinion, he is the greatest performer thst would be more correct. I love many solo artists, bands, etc, and do not consider any above the other. I know who my faves are, but that does not make them the greatest.
Yes, that's essentially what we said. He might be the greatest. Regular viewers know we have always said art is subjective. Everything we discuss is our opinion, that goes without saying. :-)
@Kickinthescience I'm not having a go about Prince. He was a great artist, and I just about had to buy another copy of Purple Rain the number of times I played it. Dirty Mind was played a lot, too. I followed him for ten years. I lost interest in the mid-90s as he became a bit self indulgent.

I was lucky enough to see Prince on stage several times here in Paris, France. My fondest memories.

There's only a certain type of artist who can feed off of a crowd like that, and Prince was definitely one of them.

I will suggest you take a listen to "If I Was Your Girlfriend" by Prince, if you haven't heard it already.
