They played this on MTV all the time when the Batman movie came out with Michael Keaton. I loved it because Prince is awesome . Thanks for doing this! 💟☮️
This song is batsh!t crazy in the best possible way lol, amazing production and video. It's not that well known from the general public. Each time it plays from one of my playlists and I am in the car with someone they ask 'what is this song???' lol They are definitely missing out never having heard this song.
Great reaction 🎉 . Story goes the Batman set was closed. They asked Prince to record for the soundtrack ( mostly for the Joker) he said he wanted on the set , they said no . Prince said he wouldn't do it any other way. The rest is history. #peaceandstaywild
Great reaction again 💜 This track is phenomenal! It’s not a track that I will say I loved straight away. However listening to it with more mature musical ears years later I realised how genius it is. The arrangement is so complex. The first time I actually listened to it with good headphones, my mind was blown. There is so much going on! How he seamlessly includes dialogue from the movie is awesome. To truly appreciate this track you really need to isolate yourself and listen to all the musical parts. This is one track that to me, solidified my view that Prince was an actual genius. So unique and complex. But you really need to listen properly to the arrangement. I always loved the video though and Princes embodiment of the ‘Gemini’ character. The character is meant to be quite evil, but Prince injects charisma and humour into the persona. It’s just wonderful 💜
Its a little bit of a medley, includes part of his song off the same Batman album called Electric Chair which is also a banger with a killer bass line.
Prince was such a musical talent! This was so creative and unique. Was not a real fan of this when fist released, but as I have aged the appreciation has grown!
Insane...even by Prince standards. But also savvy...the tune essentially gives the listener a survey of other songs on the album: the unique bass-heavy track, "The Future"; "Electric Chair" which he also did on SNL; "200 Balloons" a B-side release; "We Got The Power" which was ultimately left off of the LP. He got a number 1 hit given the hype for the movie and we got a sick guitar solo outta' deal, so it's all good...
My wife gave me the Batman OST on vinyl as a gift when we started dating, and I have the single for this and Partyman knocking around somewhere too. I even managed to get hold of a bootleg extended version of Batdance that features additional material based on tracks that were supposed to be on the album/in the film but were cut or reworked like 200 Balloons and Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic.
The gemini character makes a perfect role for the future batman movies.... Prince mind was millions years away ahead into this. This is Nikola Tesla of music
Prince’s character in this is called Gemini. A mix of Batman and the Joker. Prince was a Gemini so it’s a play on two sides of that story and two sides to the individual.
one of the best music videos of him (often his music videos don't let a big impression of me despite being a huge prince fan but this one is so fun). when i was discovering prince, i didn't like this song... thought wth?? this is some mashup of 10 different songs.. i'd rather hear each song separately than this. But it gained me ultimately. Some of the songs that were used for this one are still great but it stands really well next to those nonetheless! (sometimes even better). Crazy such a complex song got so high in the charts!
Little quizz : this song contains a very subtle and indirect reference to Superman (and also to a quite underrated electronic music pioneer), Prince always loved to put some easter eggs in his music, can you find what it is?
Great reaction! I loved this song when it first came out, but I’ve grown to appreciate it even more as I’ve gotten older. If you’re interested in checking out some live performances from this era, I recommend the performance of “Electric Chair” from an appearance on Saturday Night Live ruclips.net/video/3sxOgnJVB4o/видео.htmlsi=WHC9xI2Fk5j6ZO-2 or his performance of “Party Man” in Tokyo during the Nude Tour ruclips.net/video/-K_f6mYlFdk/видео.htmlsi=-qom7JiAKHfVDEqJ I think you’d really love them 💜💜💜
Hey there Sal, The Batman soundtrack was great back ion the day. I remember that summer. Was going into my senior year of high school. Huge lines for it when the movie hit the theaters. Check out Prince’s live performance of his song titled Shhhhh. It’s from his 2004 Musicology tour. The song he had originally written for Tevin Campbell, later in 1995 Prince put his own version of the song on his Gold Experience album. This is some grown folks music. 😅 ruclips.net/video/8Ei0KuDn9Bc/видео.htmlsi=uRCssXqudEvqOGEJ The guitar solo close out the song is ….chefs kiss.
I was a teen when this came out. It was only big because Batman was HUGE in 1989. The song is terrible. Lets be honest here. It's not something you can listen to over and over.

Partyman from the soundtrack is awesome too. If you do it you need to watch the extended video.

Along with all the cool samples from the movie, it also serves as a medley of the other hits from the soundtrack.
I love this era of Prince's career.
We had an extended remixed video of this at the club I was DJ'ing at and it always filled the floor.
He was a musical genius n he's terribly and beautifully missed! ❤
Please watch some of Prince's live performances...I suggest his Superbowl halftime show in the rain
Absolute Genius
a great, fun song from a sorely underrated soundtrack album.
This whole album is a genius level masterpiece.
I love Batdance! It's such a vibe!
This showed the true breath of Prince's genius. I feel robbed that we got to experience so little of it.
Great reaction 🎉 . Story goes the Batman set was closed. They asked Prince to record for the soundtrack ( mostly for the Joker) he said he wanted on the set , they said no . Prince said he wouldn't do it any other way. The rest is history. #peaceandstaywild

I loved this back then! Haven´t heard it in a LONG time :-))
I love this song takes you on a trip.

I'd add House music into the mix. Genius!!
PARTYMAN from PRINCE
Definitely a wild song and video to match.
💜✨🦇
You should follow this up with Partyman another song from batman but a lot more too it. If you can do the extended video version, lots of fun
you should hear . the song scandelous from this album,, even better is the 12" version called the scandeous sex suite ..
I remember this 😁
He was a genius.
The first song to sample a movie.
The gemini character makes a perfect role for the future batman movies.... Prince mind was millions years away ahead into this. This is Nikola Tesla of music
Exciting organized chaos.
‘The’ song of the summer of ‘89
Uniqiue 🔥💜
It’s hard to get this without seeing the movie to get the full effect
❤❤❤
Have you checked out Prince performing Radioheads Creep at Coachella? I f not, I think you'll like it.
Prince’s character in this is called Gemini. A mix of Batman and the Joker. Prince was a Gemini so it’s a play on two sides of that story and two sides to the individual.
Partyman from this same movie is even better. Do watch that video!

You need to do a video reaction to Prince - Partyman 👍
Little quizz : this song contains a very subtle and indirect reference to Superman (and also to a quite underrated electronic music pioneer), Prince always loved to put some easter eggs in his music, can you find what it is?
Easter egg the lyrics contain lyrics from other songs on the album
Good track, but I think the B-side (200 Balloons) is even better and complements this perfectly.

Party man by prince for this movie is the best song on the whole movie but it can be hard to find
Did the radio version have that much guitar? If so, this lousy song sounds a lot better now than it did back then.
This song was not in the movie.
I was a teen when this came out. It was only big because Batman was HUGE in 1989. The song is terrible. Lets be honest here. It's not something you can listen to over and over.
You a fuckin Liar I was a teen when it came out and listened on repeat
It’s prince version of the original Batman theme.
Pure genius.
@@Cormac-jd2kx I know what it is. Pure genius or not, it doesn't get played a lot. People don't love that song.
@@bluedragon4question of u never gets played and so what?
Macarena still gets played more than any Prince song 😂😂
