Actually, it's very simple. NCT is a group divided into 3 subgroups. These groups are NCT127, NCT Dream, WayV(chinese subgroup). These 3 sub-groups come together in a year or two and release an album. If the year they release is 2023, they take the name "NCT 2023" and this is a special project for that year. As for NCT U, U stands for "United". If a song is to be released in the U subgroup, whichever of the 20 members fits the song and concept is selected. Sometimes there are 2 people, sometimes 9 people. That is, it does not have a specific member. With different combinations, something different always comes out. Before I forget, let me add that Mark and Haechan are both members of NCT 127 and NCT Dream. So don't be surprised if you see the faces of those two in both groups. NCT is a group of SM. And SM is known for their vocals (you may have noticed with EXO😊). If EXO is my vocal kings then NCT is my vocal princes. They are in the top 3 when it comes to vocals in kpop. You can also learn the names of all the members right away with 1 or 2 variety shows. I hope you understand😉

SM kicked out Lucas from the whole company not like Sungchan and Shotaro they just left NCT to debut with RIIZE

He's still gaining confidence bc people ruined him, his career, his groups, and more. In his lives he barely shows his face by wearing a mask and hat and says maybe about 10 words in a 10 minute live. SM's CEO, Chis, is actually very supportive of Lucas but he probably didn't want to bring any more hate to the group. Every single time he tried to test the waters, even with a simple post on instagram, the hate and everything would come back again. "Fans" tried to kick him out not SM
No, this song is 2023 version of when all the members come and film a whole mv. There's a 2018 version with Black On Black and 2020 beautiful. And RESONANCE! now, if u wanna know how these versions with whole memebers work, u gotta check RESONANCE! This one has: make a wish. Rise the roof. 90s Love and Work it. This not a new unit. It is all the members. NCT 2018 had 18 members and 2020 had 23 members. 2021 had 21 members and now 20 members.
In 2021 there wasn't Lucas and WinWin and in 2018 there wasn't Sungchan, Shotaro, Xiaojun and YangYang weren't there.
And now there aren't Lucas who left because of the hiatus which was caused because of rumours.
Shotaro and Sungchan were remived to be in RIIZE with members that were supposed to debut in NCT which were SM ROOKIES - Eunseok and Seunghan (+ Shohei who didn't debut due to health problems)

Ever since 2018(not sure if they’ve done it every year since then) they’ve put NCT with the year it currently is. It includes all the current active NCT members. Different from NCT U which does include all the members but NCT U has different members coming together depending on the songs. So not everyone is together at once like with NCT 2023. They have different combinations of members in NCT U at different times.
Simply explained whenever you see NCT + year it means it is a full group song and in the album there will be NCT U songs which is a unit that changes members.
So, you know NCT has many units, well, every year or two, all the units gather to make an album in which they all participate, and in the album there's always a song done by all the members and this is this year's song 💚

NCT 127 - 9 member group(members changed they debuted in 2016 as 7 members being Taeyong, Mark, Haechan, WinWin, Jaehyun, Taeil, Yuta) Later on Doyoung and Jungwoo and Johnny got added and WinWin left.
For NCT DREAM they re the youngest and are 7 members debuted with the same line up but Mark left/graduated. Fans were against it and the members most likely got traumatized because they were so young. I am happy they stayed together. Members are Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung.
Last fixed unit is WAYV. Promited in China and can't be promoted as well internationally due to how China is. They are 6 members. Lucas left as said in many comments. The members are Kun, Ten, Hendery, Xiaojun, WinWin and YangYang.
NCT DOJAEJUNG is a trio being Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo. Their songs are so good. They will be most likely promoting when Taeil and Taeyong leave for military. Taeyong is the key of 127. Because he is THE NEO. Plus he is the Leader, Center, FOTG and Main Visual. (neo is how we describe their music as experimental and such)
NCT U is a rotational unit that releases albums within the years of NCT 2018,2020,2021 and now. NCT U changes membersin different ways. They are some NCT U units that have the same members as the fixed units.
