The way she says “a lifetime of grief” shows they’ve had issues from the beginning, and that this probably wasn’t the first time he’s cheated. Only this incident was the last straw for her because it affected their son. The fact he was willing to hurt his own child to satisfy his own ego shows he is truly depraved.

The child would legally be considered the husbands thus it would legally be his grandchild. Then there is the fact that clearly they would hide the child's true paternity so the son would have been unknowingly raising and acting as a father to his halfsibling and the father would be acting as the grandfather. In this way he would have fathered the child that was believed to be and legally would be his grandchild. Even if her being his daughter by law doesn't count in this families culture to many others it does, and in many other respects he would have fathered a child that was considered by everyone to be his grandchild. The mothers statement holds fact because that's exactly the way it would be seen.

Robert Foxworth played this part VERY WELL.
He should have AT LEAST received an Emmy nomination.
    His portrayal here is
    COLD TO THE MAX!!!
He blindsided his son and his wife with a calmness that really HAS to be seen to believed.
Almost chilling how he CALMLY explains to his wife that the son killed his wife AND how he CALMLY told her she was being hysterical due to her grief.
    Chilling.
Foxworth has really blossomed the past 25 years into a real GEM of an actor especially when playing villains...in fact, another great acting job was on the original L&O where he played a writer who used a woman so much so the son killed someone and she was so wrapped up in Foxworth that when the son was arrested and arraigned her ONLY thought was of Foxworth, not her son. Foxworth gave her a cold stare and walked away at the end.
I may have missed a few elements here but check out that episode...it is tooo much.
    Great job by Foxworth!!!
By the way, the way his "son" says "YOUU!!!!" is so visceral that it seems REAL. He was hurt and disgusted all at once.
That was good acting from the son... Probably learned that from his dad.

Personally I think it should at least invalidate any consent given if there's a reasonable expectation of the person to have not slept with other (like them being your spouse) and yet they have done so but haven't told you. Then it counts as SA or something of that sort.
It puts you at risks that you never agreed to, physically, mentally, and financially. It's just f'd up all around and really should be punished. Especially considering that marriage is supposed to be a LEGAL agreement.
