Dracaena 'Janet Craig' has been in the industry for a very long time. That was a really nice-looking Begonia rex! Fun vicariously plant shopping with you, thanks!
❤ I just found a huge satin pothos In a hanging basket at Lowe's for 22 bucks!! Couldn't believe it I'm breaking it up and making a couple of plants. Just wow! The one in here was EXPENSIVE And so tiny!!
I live in the UK and the D.Janet Craig used to be for sale everywhere but it’s seldom seen these days. I’m not a plant parent because it’s trendy and after 40 years of owning plants I go for what appeals to me not for the hype. Glad to come across someone whose views the same.
Love that shop looks so cool if you are having problems with alocacia immediately dying back to the corm after you take them home it will shoot out new leaves that are better acclimated to your environment but it can take a while if they are staying at 1-2 leaves water it way more my baby alocasia jacklyn gets watered every 3 days sitting in coco coir/perlite in 35% humidity they really can just chug the water
Prices are a little high there. My local nursery charges 3.99 for baby’s , 9-12 for small hanging pots and 19 for larger hanging pots. Peace Lilly’s 19 for large sizes. And that Cad so cheaper in US dollars
I think they are less preferred, but definitely not going out of favor in my opinion. They just released the new Pink Glory which is the Gloriosum x Lynamii and it's gorgeous.
Great video for those who want to learn. Funny thing - th3 plants I had been thinking of buying aren't my cup of tea now. Your video showed me new ones I like better. Thank you! (I do think Janet Craigs are hideous though 🤣)
What???!!! That's the Plant of the Year??? I expected an Alocasia, a Monstera, an Anthurium, a bush Philodendron, or some type of jewel orchid...not the one you showed, and certainly not the type with zero markings. (I won't name it so people have to watch.) This video was fun, thank you for taking us along.
That Begonia Rex is a Fedor, Rex is just a classification of the type of Begonia, its rhizomatous, unlike the Maculata which is a Cane Begonia. There are so many different varieties of Rex Begonias, so they don't all look like the Fedor you found. Also, Begonias can look completely different in size and color depending on the environments they're grown in.
I have a pretty mature, taller Janet Craig from Home Depot but it never seems happy. The leaves look like they are turning brown/tan so I moved it to a north/west facing window. Not very interesting as a smaller plant though.
@@SloansCommonGround I let it dry out and then flush it out the bottom. It really doesn’t like bright light it thrives in low light. I noticed that ants like to get in there and I dumped a whole thing of cinnamon and flushed it out and that plant went crazy with growth. It went over 6 foot and I had to cut it down, but it’s growing still and quite well. It’s started from a very small plant from a funeral there is now five plants that are 3 1/2+foot and other smaller ones
Yeah really….The grower, Costa Farms probably made the claim of the “it” plant aka.. way too much inventory that hasn’t sold fast enough, impossible to kill and has a long shelf life.
It's none of your business what other people think of you. If you are in a positive, uptimistic place, it's your responsibility to inspire other people. You can't be an adult with responsibilities to others if you are not being responsible to yourself, true to who you are. If you experience unreasonable behavior from other people, do not confront them alone. Wait for the right moment (often when the disrespectful person are smiling and occupied with somthing else, do not wait too long) and then show the person and other people in the group that you do not like to be treated with disrespect and that you hope to reconnect in a much better way for all peoples advantage in the future and you have now said you peace and will not discuss it ever again. Cut through precise and short. Do not get too personal. After that, be open for change. Wait, do not judge. Let people stumble one time and let them correct their own behavior. Tell them that you appreciate the change. Look at them, really look at them. They are struggling, often with self-doubt, distrust, and / or fear. Its not your responsibility to fight their battles for them. It's your responsibility to inspire. ❤
Who voted on this POS as the plant of the year?? What a let down, especially when so many more exciting plants have become widely available and lower in price. Psssht.
That is not what I expected lol 😂😂

I’m glad no one spoiling in the comments. Can’t wait to find out.
New sub ❤❤

@@endor8witch go away. My comment was 23 hours ago buddy so clearly I’ve watched the whole thing.

Just an FYI, Lowes has those Florida Beauties for $20. I just saw them TODAY
The Tacca (bat flower) bloom is beyond amazing. The black flower is more common than the rare white.
Also.. the Labisia will not disappoint!😊

interesting that the crawlers were so dirt cheap. i get the sense that crawlers are generally going out of favor.

Sure it's pretty especially against a "Peach Wall," but what about next ear's color which could be Elephant Grey ?

I did not expect the Janet Craig to be the “it” plant 😂🇨🇦
Haha I didn’t either!

I just got a thai constellation about that size at Walmart for $40, just an FYI 😉
WHERE???is this shop? City? Name of store please?
I saw an article that said the mythic dragonite alocasia is the 2024 plant of the year
Now THAT’S a cool plant.
Wow. Where is this plant shop you're at?! They have everything!!
The first store was Ted Lare Garden Center! I always love to go there because they have so many plants nowhere else in Iowa does!
@@SloansCommonGroundwhat city?😊
Nm...I googled it. Des Moines
😂😂😂What a joke. I am glad I fast forward the video
How is that the plant of the year? Are we all ok?
Where did you shop all of those are so cheap and what an amazing variety they had💚🌸
Ted Lare Garden Center and Lowe’s!
A plain green Dracaena! Literally the most generic, boring houseplant offered in stores. 😂
Great video!
Thank you!
You gotta be kidding. These prices are outrageous.
my prayer plants are easier than my dracena
Idk… I think I would need that plant styled lol personally don’t see the hype, but fun to watch your journey
I do think they look way cooler styled when they’re larger!
LETS GOOOO

It doesn’t like sunshine it likes medium to low. Mine only gets brown when I don’t give it enough water.
I have that same one got 4 yrs ago small pot 4inch she is now in a 6 inch and about 2ft tall... smh 80 million votes my ass.lol
What nursery is that where is it?
Ted Lare Garden Center in Cumming, Iowa!
My Janet Craig is over 30 years old
Wow that’s amazing! Do you have any tips?

That can not be the “it” plant of the year. No way! That is a really bad trend.
Yeah really….The grower, Costa Farms probably made the claim of the “it” plant aka.. way too much inventory that hasn’t sold fast enough, impossible to kill and has a long shelf life.
LOL, I will be skipping the plant of the year. I had one in 2017, that I gave away.
Won't be buying the "it" plant of 2024! Alocasia's anthuriums, calatheas and philodendrons have my heart 💚💚💚💚💚

WTH??? A dracena? The most boring and ugly plant there is?
Who made this up?
Anyone can write an article and post it online 😅
One man's boring is another man's party ❤
There's loads of different dracaena's, many are gorgeous and so easy going!!
