Terrific footage, and do we miss those days. But why filmmakers used goofy soundtracks like that I'll never understand or appreciate. Thanks for posting this on RUclips.
This film predates " The Endless Summer '. That film came out the summer of 1966. In 1965 was a 15 yo kid getting hammered trying to teach myself how to ride a borrowed longboard. I'm now 63 and have never been on anything under a 9'6".I now have a 10" nose rider shaped pretty much the same as the boards I learned on. I'll surf until I can't paddle out any more. No better religious experience in my book.
@SURFSTYLEY4 I gotta tell ya I never could be that lucky.The closest I ever got to it was Donald Takayama got on of his old three stringer signature models in 73 and he let me use it at stone steps and that board was like a no it was better than time travel.I could never talk him into letting me take it to Blacks but the Steps had its moments,D.T. was one of a kind.
Aside from the nasty sound distortion and hokey soundtrack, it might've been better had he not plagiarized so much narration from "The Endless Summer."
