Since trap is a popular genre of music, I'll utilize this early comment to suggest a theme for a next video: Pop Metal - I've seen this in some videos of yours, using bands like Van Halen, Bon Jovi and Europe as examples, for me, they're all hard, glam or arena, but I'd like to see how they could be considered as "pop metal", and it could even mention bands like Linkin Park (alternative metal + hip hop and electronica, these two not what you could call pop, but they're definitely popular genres) and Ghost (Tobias is the biggest ABBA fanboy ever). Of course metal bands inspired by synthpop are a completely different thing; as well as pop rock. And also (assuming Occulturation is american) I'd like to see videos about Power Metal and Symphonic Metal (pretty much non-american genres), they would definitely be fun and interesting to see, and these genres are more diverse than most people think.
Dead Poet Society is one of my favourite "pop metal" bands. they also get called "djent pop"(sounds horrible i know), but they write some very catchy tunes with chunky guitars and sweet vocal melodies without turning it into some screamo shit.
I'm Canadian actually, but yes, I will do a Pop Metal video at some point. Maybe I'll cover it and Glam Metal together, since the two are often confused for one another and need differentiating. And I want to redo my glam metal video, since I was rather uncharitable before.
I find Trap Metal a really interesting take on the more aggressive nature of hip hop. I do find it a tad hit a d miss and much prefer my comfort food of grindcore l, death metal and the like, but I respect that it's pushing the boundaries of metal and making me think harder about the instruments i employ in my music.
I've been into Trap Metal since 2017, seen so many different styles and definitions, I think if there ever was 1 official meaning for the genre, it's been long lost and misconstrued. I think to really grasp and understand, everyone should dive deep into the genre, check out everything there is to hear both new and old. Nothing irritates me more than people say they like Trap Metal but can only name the most popular artists. There are some very talented people in the underground that barely get any recognition, especially on sound cloud.
I just finished watching Taxi Driver for the first time literally an hour ago. watched a video by Deburke where he talks about Charles Manson and John Hinkley Jr., the guy who shot Reagan because he wanted to impress Jodie Foster from Taxi Driver. So I went to finally watch it, it was pretty cool movie, way ahead it’s time, the most 90s movie from the 70s.
If you fw the style of trap metal, you should definitely check out artists such as fukkit (2016ish to 2017, mostly the "is this beauty?" album and couple of singles on sc), although he has done some "pure" trap metal tracks like vicinity and eye-full. Kamiyada is also straight fire and he mainly does the sound of darkwave/darkcore/trap metal/ragecore.(honorable mention is also brando+'s "Bad luck")

Not seeing Atilla on here was definitely surprising. I guess you could label them more as rap metal/metalcore, but they definitely have that trap vibe on some tracks
I'd say most of it is Rap Metal + Deathcore, and I almost used them as an example of Rap Metal, but they might have Trap influence yes. Maybe a sort of precursor to this style.
Uhhhhh.... Thanks? At this point, I'll just say that Trap Metal is, in my personal opinion, something unique but not new based on where is based from which is Trap just combining elements of metal. However, I'll have to say that Metalstep is what I more prefer than Trap Metal since it combines a EDM Genre now labelled as "Brostep" thanks to Skrillex. Now, I still listen to an artist named Fonik back in 2020 and oh boy. He's one of the great Dubstep producers out there. Better check it out.
Beyond All Recognition: Drop=Dead. Its Metalstep + Deathcore. Also even tho you probably know it already KoRn's Path of Totality is a great Metalstep record.

Where does Trap metal production intersect with Industrial? I hear some of the best industrial I've ever heard when I listen to some insane trap metal production. Ghostemane and Scarlxrd have an ep with Parv0 and Parv0's production is ridiculous.
In my opinion. The only "Trap Metal" band that truly blends the style of Trap and Metal together, is one band that should've been mentioned, more than any other band that came out not too long ago: DARKO US. Compared to most Trap artists here screaming and rapping over bass boosted Trap beats, Darko actually makes the beat with a blend of keyboards, like normal Trap, dissonance, and breakdowns from guitars like Deathcore, but what carries most of the songs are the drumming because it has the groove of rap, but also the speed and technicality of Death Metal, as well as the vocals. The vocals have of course all the Death Metal, Deathcore and Slam vocals. Not to mention that the other half of Darko's music are Lo-Fi or shoegaze. Which compared to most Trap Metal leaning towards rap, Darko is closer to Metal
Just saw FIR open for A7X and it was one of the cringiest live acts I’ve ever seen. Georgiev was the only person that played live throughout the set. ronnie’s rapping sections, kick drums/cymbals, bass and rhythm guitar were all coming from a PC. They’re well capable of playing, yet their labels tell them not to. Pretty shameful at their age
That is a shame. I guess sometimes its just about the studio music. I've seen the other way around too, where a band doesn't have any good releases but kills it live. Strange that.
I think the idea that Nu-Metal doesn't have rapping is absurd. There are plenty of Slipknot songs that have contained rapping or near-rapping, you may not like Limp Bizkit but they are Nu-Metal. There are rap metal bands that aren't Nu-Metal, but there are Nu-Metal bands that rap and those that don't. Another example, there are Deftones songs with rap, and though I would call them Nu-Metal, I wouldn't call them rap metal.
If you don’t consider it nu metal if there’s rapping in it where does Linkin Park fit? Were they just lumped in with nu metal bc that was the era? Cool vid
I know I'm late, but I consider Linkin Park to a mix of Rap Metal and Alternative Metal. Though I'd maybe concede that Hybrid Theory is a bit Nu-Metal.
Sematary only did Trap Metal on Rainbow Bridge 3, if you havent listened you should. Sematarys new music is ass, if you want to listen to his good stuff i recommend RB3, and start listening to maybe rainbow bridge 1, then 2, then hundred acre wrist and if you finally fall down the sematary hole, listen to grave house.
Sematary doesn’t make any trap metal. He makes trap with horror influence and emo type shit. He’s influenced by ppl like cheif keef and yung lean most he samples some metal
You probably have a different definition of Nu-Metal than I do. When I say Nu-Metal, I mean that raw sound that bands like KoRn have. Some others in this realm are Otep, Slipknot, and Mudvayne. Though many of these artists also bleed into Alternative Metal. So KoRn's early albums are the best examples. Some people use Nu-Metal so broadly that they include Avenged Sevenfold and Lamb of God, but I mean the original and specific meaning. Papa Roach is closer to Emo than Nu-Metal. Rap Metal is different than Nu-Metal, though they are sometimes mixed together, such as with Slipknot, Machine Head's Nu-Metal era, and perhaps even Sicksense.
NOO!! LISTEN TO Rainbow bridge 2! Semetary is not trap metal he mixes black metal with witchhouse and 808 mafia trap He makes Drill Music sreryotypes into horror movie themes kinda like phonk/horrorcore Yes his 2023 releases are subpar to his original work
Trap metal is a dead genre that died a while ago. It has nothing to do with metal, this is fact. Only ones that have ties to the metal scene are Shush and man oh god since they are side projects from actual metal frontmen. Sonically the music is very hip hop. The only good ones in the genre aren’t even considered trap metal by many (Sematary, bones, suicideboys, wavy jones and early ghostemane)
See the problem is, u only looked at actual trap METAL, however the genre has gone far away from metal a long time ago. Recommend u look at prxjek or older kamiyada songs. Its considered the same genre, but you simply cannot convince me it is metal.
Just had to tap in to say I think trap metal is absolutely terrible and it could disappear from the earth and I wouldn’t care at all. I’d also say other than korn and slipknot, MOST nu metal was god awful too.

May I recommend you some tracks??? Along with one of my own.
This shit sounds like the musical equivalent to the water in flint michigan.
Great video as always!
Great vid man really good.
waiting for that metal tier list
In my opinion hxnjv, depth strida, ghostofblu and vyx blv$ are the best trap metal artists. I've been listening to them for 2 years
Uhhhhh....
Have you got any good metalstep artist recommendations?
Beyond All Recognition: Drop=Dead. Its Metalstep + Deathcore. Also even tho you probably know it already KoRn's Path of Totality is a great Metalstep record.
Ghostemane is the only artist here I enjoy, Especially since he has those fear network EPs that are basically just rap metal
Trap metal is fucking awesome and can be heavy as shit when done right. Check out ghostmane if tou want a good mix of bass and real metal instruments, the newer the better with ghostmane! 🤘🏻
Dropout Kings probably one of the best Trap bands out there but overall the genre as a whole is pretty hit or miss for me. I prefer the real instrumentation of Metal.
I thinks it’s more of the extreme or heavy spectrum of hip-hop genre.
Trap metal has really grown on me in the past couple years specifically scarlxrd
MID UPLOAD BUDDY YOU WILL HAVE TO UPDATE
Could you do an analysis on grindcore that would be a cool and interesting take
Ur vids r rlly good
How about CRAP METAL as their music & lyrics aren't actual METAL!!!
If you wanna listen to some trap metal, I'd also recommend checking out Xen0christ
Sematary isn't trap metal
ikr
I think Nxxses has some good stuff, I personally like his singles like BLXXD SXXKED, No Russian, and Into The Depths.
My favorite ep from his is Dark Prison but that's no longer available on Spotify.
sematary iz kinda black metal witch house n chicago drill all mixed 2gether, idk if can b classified as metal sumtymz itz juz more chicago drill ovr witch house, 3am gang prob iznt tha best example
people often confuse SoundCloud Bass Boost Earrape Rap for Trap Metal..."Look At Me" by XXXTENTACION is SoundCloud Bass Boost Earrape Rap..."Mercury" by Ghostemane is Trap Metal...
Bruh this video was funny asf 😭
Where does Trap metal production intersect with Industrial? I hear some of the best industrial I've ever heard when I listen to some insane trap metal production. Ghostemane and Scarlxrd have an ep with Parv0 and Parv0's production is ridiculous.
ISTASHA
HXNJV, Ghostofblu, Kill Ebola
Does Grim Salvo count? Only guys similar to this I've listened to.
Grim Salvo is dope. Check 'em out.
Awesome band
man is spitting some hot takes, too bad neckbeards are gonna dislike this vid into oblivion
I fw Kamiyada
that's actually pretty kool
I would also recommend Slen and Projek
I really like Prxjek's TM stuff, but his more tame rap songs are definitely not for me.
@@devenscience8894 yeah I’m talking like Moshpit
You compared Slipknot to dead rising, tf dude
Just saw FIR open for A7X and it was one of the cringiest live acts I’ve ever seen. Georgiev was the only person that played live throughout the set. ronnie’s rapping sections, kick drums/cymbals, bass and rhythm guitar were all coming from a PC. They’re well capable of playing, yet their labels tell them not to. Pretty shameful at their age
Bruh
That is a shame. I guess sometimes its just about the studio music. I've seen the other way around too, where a band doesn't have any good releases but kills it live. Strange that.

I think the idea that Nu-Metal doesn't have rapping is absurd. There are plenty of Slipknot songs that have contained rapping or near-rapping, you may not like Limp Bizkit but they are Nu-Metal. There are rap metal bands that aren't Nu-Metal, but there are Nu-Metal bands that rap and those that don't. Another example, there are Deftones songs with rap, and though I would call them Nu-Metal, I wouldn't call them rap metal.
good video therefore you deserve a new microphone lad
xxxtentacion was one of the pioneers to bring it into mainstream. songs like yung bratz, rip roach, tummy tuck.
That’s just scream rap
Poser metal
Zilla fucken Kami
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😈
If you don’t consider it nu metal if there’s rapping in it where does Linkin Park fit? Were they just lumped in with nu metal bc that was the era? Cool vid
I know I'm late, but I consider Linkin Park to a mix of Rap Metal and Alternative Metal. Though I'd maybe concede that Hybrid Theory is a bit Nu-Metal.
You only just asking this 😂
wel im listing to oni ink its a bit meme but he got some good stuff end im not a fan of scream stuff
Trap to me feels like it’s more deathcore, horrorcore , nu metal and trap made a baby 😂. Scarlord sick,
Oh and Esham the unholy is the precursor to it in my opinion.
Scarlxrd 🫶
Sleep Token is trve trap metvl
Are Death Grips trap metal?
Sematary only did Trap Metal on Rainbow Bridge 3, if you havent listened you should. Sematarys new music is ass, if you want to listen to his good stuff i recommend RB3, and start listening to maybe rainbow bridge 1, then 2, then hundred acre wrist and if you finally fall down the sematary hole, listen to grave house.
Sematary doesn’t make any trap metal. He makes trap with horror influence and emo type shit. He’s influenced by ppl like cheif keef and yung lean most he samples some metal
Also a lot of the bands you’re giving the “rap metal”? label to - they all nu metal bands.
Semetary is not trap metal he mixes black metal with witchhouse and 808 mafia trap
He makes Drill Music sreryotypes into horror movie themes kinda like phonk/horrorcore
Yes his 2023 releases are subpar to his original work
Trap metal is a dead genre that died a while ago.
Scarlxrd and Slipknot are miles apart in terms of being metal lol
See the problem is, u only looked at actual trap METAL, however the genre has gone far away from metal a long time ago. Recommend u look at prxjek or older kamiyada songs. Its considered the same genre, but you simply cannot convince me it is metal.
something that shouldnt exist
Is diffrent from rap metal because it uses trap instead of rap 😂
"Crap" Metal. Get off my lawn!
A mistake
Trap metal is just anader verson of horor core rap about sirial killers and 💩
Ur not a old mf lol I listen to some trap metal at 15 and wonder why tf it was even posted
I rather bee racist and say NO!!!!!
Just had to tap in to say I think trap metal is absolutely terrible and it could disappear from the earth and I wouldn’t care at all.
I’d also say other than korn and slipknot, MOST nu metal was god awful too.
The other "Nu-Metal" bands were most likely Rap Metal and Alt Metal bands. There are few "true" Nu-Metal bands.
I wish this could be a good genre, but... it isn't. It's like hardcore punk for me, it all sounds the same.
PHONK IS THE FUSION OF MEMPHIS RAP AND DEATH METAL
