For $20 we could go all summer, it was the place to go back in the day, looking for girls and just hanging with friends was all that was needed to fill the day and evening. It did not take a lot to have a great time. A time of life I will always remember
I was 7 years old when Astroworld opened, and spent many more summers riding these rides. I love the video of the Alpine Sleighs! Thank you thank you thank you!
It seems like it was so much better before Six Flags took it over and started turning into a thrill park that was basically the discard park of other Six Flags parks.
Didn't that ride shut down in the late 70's or early 80's? I started going there in the summer of '83 and it was not even mentioned as a ride although I heard it used to be there.
@chuckysbak damn i'm super late but they are building a new theme park just cant remember when they are going to open it, i believe its in 2012 or a lil later
Many GREAT memories from AstroWorld ... Thank you Kieran Burke for making a horrible and WRONG decision to close the park ... It was appropriate that the Board of Directors of Six Flags fired your ass after the EPIC FAIL ... in the sale of the property ... The company lost 73 million dollars in that deal ... Serves you right !
Big city, big dreams, power was cheap, until it wasn't, and then everything else cheapened from within. Abandoned, discarded, us, them, or just life.?then it was enslaved with false hopes and lies, raped, and transmuted, into the exact idea, that had spawned it had now turned and consumed it. Yah to losing spirit, yah to acquisitions to puppet shells, but most of all Yah to making profits and running

Astroworld was the 'coolest' place to go to as a pre-teen. Bits n pieces of Houston history will always live in our hearts.
