Fantastic. I feel that I recognise the voice and am wondering who it is. Loved the timing of the word Spud just as the voiceover mentions root vegetables.
I love trains and I hate tories but I am not completely convinced something like the HS2 is needed.
The existing network has numerous problems and it is not reliable, cheap or comfortable enough to travel on it. High Speed Rail is expensive. Currently railways in England have a ridiculous pricing system where you can end up paying more than flying to Asia for a local return travel. God only knows how much HS2 tickets would cost under the current privatized system.
Surely expanding, modernising and improving capacity with conventional railways would be of more use? Nobody needs (or should not need) to commute between Manchester and London every day. You already can travel between those two cities in little more than two hours.
I think it's more of the fact that they didn't understand that in the first place, lobbied for public support, committed to it, spent billions, and then backed out of it. It's not that they backed out of it, that's a good thing.
I wish they felt the same when they realised how much Brexit would fuck our country into oblivion and backed out of that

So the Tories said they would help the Just About Managings then they reneged on that promise. They said they would create a Northern powerhouse but they reneged on that as well. They said they would level up whilst reengaging on that promise and more like punching down. Now they are cancelling the Northern part of HS2 AFTER their mates, chums and pals all rich fleecing the government and they expect us all to trust them when they say they will build back better and that the north definitely absolutely will most for sure this time get some help but only if Dishwater Sunak can take it all away the money from the poor areas and give to the rich as per his own words!
Ans the northern 🐒’s will still vote Tory in massive numbers. Memories are short in the north. They seem to have forgotten what Thatcher did to them.
It's only ever been promises coming from the right-wing Tory camp. Never any action. They have only ever been populists. Pulling on heartstrings just to get votes. And yet the less respect these autocrats receive the more they believe themselves a different class to the rest of us. It emboldens them. It's like they feed on despair. And by projecting the consequences of their ineptitude onto the opposition they hope to create a public shield against any common sense opposition.
Everything they do is parroting the far right in the US; even that stupid slang word woke, which was actually created by a right-wing think tank, possibly even a Russian bot farm, they are milking it. Just like the hard-line conservatives in the US. Suella is lauded for saying it by her snobbish conference.
The Tories need to be ousted no matter what because not a week goes by when they are seen to be liars.
Ah yes, but now they're promising other things that they have no intention or ability to fulfill. You see?
Don't worry abiout what they have done, focus on what they won't do in the future.
